In this episode we are fly fishing trout on a very nice day in early spring. We float from Kelly Island launch to Harpers and stop once in awhile to anchor and fish or to wade fish. We use a wire worm pattern and few different San Juan patterns as well as BWO nymphs to catch and release some smaller sized Rainbows and a nice Brown. A beautiful day in the outdoors of Montana. I hope you enjoy this episode.
Fly Fishing with Ladin's primary purpose is to share fly fishing techniques and places to fly fish in the Western United States. We are a dedicated fly fishing KZhead channel promoting catch and release fly fishing. Our motto is having fun catching and releasing fish. We want to share our passion with others. We are not professionals. We are passionate about fly fishing but we do not take ourselves to seriously. We show our mistakes, falling in, getting flies stuck in wrong places, loosing fish. The same things that all of us experience fly fishing. We have been fly fishing northwest waters for over forty years. But we are always learning new things that we like to pass along. We think our channel is a great place to get ideas for fly fishing vacations and weekend trips.

    • Ive only fished the Clark Fork upstream from Missoula. Is that stretch downstream from town?

    • @@garyrafferty7625 Kelly island is basically on the west end of town which would be downstream.

  • You guys look like you have such a grand time going fishing together. It's really hard to tell if Ladin is trying to be comical or if it's just the way he's wired / fishes; he sure does lose a lot of hooked trout 😅. I look forward to your next video; good stuff 😇

  • Its all about line control when you are fishing Keep your line in control and you will not have so much slack in your line when setting the hook.Cast and then get line in control by stripping the slack out and then if a fish strikes you just have to raise your arm to shoulder height to set the hook.If you have all that slack you are trying to set the hook like you were behind your back and that is a hard thing to do. Love your videos thanks

  • Where's all the big fish??? One would think this river would be full of 20 to 30 inch trout. 10 to 14 inch fish all day long. Still looks like fun.

    • I am not totally sure but we have caught browns from there upstream quite a bit and downstream from there we have caught Browns although not as many. So I think they are in most of the system at least from St. Regis upstream.
