  • One of the best stages I have seen on a grand tour.

    • The stages the tour doesnt offer anymore sadly. The giro does. Stage 20 should have been even more epic but with 3x Sestriere it became boring.

  • João lost his pink today but I'm not sad. I'm proud! Proud of João and Rúben. I never thought I would see a Portuguese leading a grand tour. I never thought I would see a Portuguese fighting for a grand tour. I never thought I would see my country interested in cycling. Now everyone knows João in Portugal and every cycling fan knows him as well. We won a stage, we wore all the jerseys for at least 1 day. We had a leader for 15 days and we will win a jersey in a grand tour for the first time ever. How could I be sad? Thanks for the memories Giro d'Italia!

I know João Almeida lost his maglia rosa and a place in the podium as well, but how great this kid was, his first year as a pro, his first grand tour ever and he held pink for two weeks, fighting for the win with some of the best cyclists in the world, also young but with much more experience than him and he will finish the Giro in top 5!! he have future for sure. and the Giro is incredibily tight til the end!

  • What a stage! Such a revolution in the GC. The Giro has been quite exciting. And it appears to be even more exciting after today. I guess there will be some moves in the classification til the end. And that TT in the last stage will help to that. João was a fighter and he did really good nonetheless in this stage. I guess we'll still hear from him. But Tao and Jai are riding superbly. Let's see what happens...

He basically paced for what, 30 km? Far played to him

  • Great race today. They really had to go very deep. Tomorrow a "flat" race of 257 km. Terribly long and probably not as flat as a the WC in Qatar. So even tomorrow not much time for recovery for the GC riders. On Saturday another mountain stage and on Sunday the ITT. Many things can happen and will happen in these last three days. It ain't over till it's over. Take a look at the top 12 now and at the finish line in Milano. There will still be a lot (and huge) changes.

    • But kelderman was with 4 team menbers in the big part of stelvio and João was only with masnada, and when João crack masnada didnt help, masnada will just help João when the things really get bad, so for me sunweb did a great job.

      @edermartins180@edermartins1803 жыл бұрын
    • @@edermartins180 Your comment is confusing and illogical. At first Masnada didn’t want to wait for Almeida, eventually he did work for him - it was far from perfect, but still something. Hindley did never wait, while he is horrible in time trials, so he has to get a big margin on Hart before that... Now Kelderman and Hindley only have a small margin and if Hindley had helped Kelderman, he would never have lost more than 1 minute to Hart. If there wouldn’t still be a time trial, it would be a debatable call, but now it’s just a naive call...

    • @@Tim-K. srr but my english is horrible and i understand what you are trying to say but kelderman was horible today and kel show is weakeness today, and ofcourse this is the queen stage but stage 20 isnt easy at all and for me now sunweb cannot risk losing this because kelderman is on 1st gc, and believe on my words kelderman will not take this win on my opinion, and for me sunweb did a great job today and quick step was horible because is team is better than sunweb and cannot keep is leader on the main group and they have names like masnada,knox and more to work for João, but was a great stage at all if giro was so far being boring now is a real giro d italia

      @edermartins180@edermartins1803 жыл бұрын
    • The issue wasn't so much that they left Kelderman on his own, the issue was that Hindley didn't try to attack on the last climb. He absolutely needs a bigger margin for the TT, so he should have tried to drop Hart. Especially as he still looked relatively fresh after that sprint to the finish line.

      @topsander@topsander3 жыл бұрын
    • @@edermartins180 You don’t have to apologise for your English, you’re probably Portuguese so it’s not your native language, just keep practising and you’ll improve. Kelderman was not that bad today, he was just that little worse than Hart that he couldn’t follow in one of the steep sections of the Stelvio, he maintained a steady gap of 38 à 48 seconds eventually, but during the flat windy section after the descent he lost a lot of time because of Dennis - who is really strong in keeping a hard pace for a long time on a flat section - who could just give his all, while keeping Hart out of the wind, without him Kelderman wouldn’t have lost more than a minute, probably even less. Hart was also on the limit on the Stelvio, he had trouble following Dennis’ pace, indicated by the gaps he left sometimes. Saturday isn’t that hard, and Sunday there is a ITT and Kelderman is better in that than Hart. If Kelderman loses a minute on Saturday it’s not unrealistic to say that he will gain that time back on Sunday. Hindley however is even worse in time trials than Hart, so he had to attack today to get a bigger margin on Hart, because tomorrow is probably not hard enough for that, so Hindley will normally only win the Giro if Kelderman and Hart lose a lot of time on Saturday. I think this is between Hart and Kelderman and the latter has the advantage.
