I couldn't imagine navigating the minefield of buying a new monitor without your reviews.
I know, right? I would have otherwise just went for the cheapest thing possible had I not known. And there really isn't another channel I've seen that go in such detail. God bless these reviews!
So true. Remember the time before HWU and TftCentral? When you bought a monitor there was always something odd going you just couldn't put your finger in it. Those probably were response times, motion blur, tearing, washed out colors, contrast, many many more and of course clouding, blooming and dead pixels. Only thing we compared back then was monitor size and if it was flat panel or crt. Now that i think about it, how could we be so informed.
Couldn't agree more! I have been on the market for a new UltraWide for over a year; but I don't make any decisions or considerations without this amazing channel! Aussie Aussie Aussie.....! Oi Oi Oi!
@@moldyshishkabob Absolutely, as much as with a little research anyone can decipher what they want in a monitor, only such in-depth testing can actually tell you if they are on the level or are there hidden caveats. No monitor I or anyone I know is bought with out a review here. (period lol)
which one did you get
Your reviews have taught me a lot about monitors and what to look for when buying one. Best in class, keep it up Tim!
I've been waiting for you to actually review this, thanks guys.
I own an AD27QD (basically the original Gigabyte monitor) it's actually insane the pace monitors took after that. The 27qd was the talk of the town, the first monitor to be 1440p, 144hz, 10-bit colour (at 120fps) and IPS. Now we are talking very colour accurate IPS at 240hz like it's nothing a few years later.
Always appreciate the monitor reviews, thanks!
Nice to see this!! I hope you guys will review the other 4k monitors by Gigabyte!
I was just looking for this!!
I really struggled with BGR on this Monitor made text appear really blurry to my eyes ended up returning the monitor as I found reading text extremely straining on my eyes I found out about the bgr issue later after watching another review have since purchased the Alienware monitor as it was just restocked here very happy with it, the Asus monitor looks very good though and probably slightly better than the aw but sadly not available here yet, I'm really happy you mentioned the BGR in the review as well keep the comprehensive reviews coming always look forward to the monitor videos.
Wow, so you would recommend the aw over this? Did you try the cleartype, scale, and sharpening solutions on this one? Sorry to ask but text is important to me, and i was about to buy this one since the aw isnt available, but the text issue is stopping me since i cant check the monitor in the store and here return policy is terrible.
@@santiagoberto7178 did you buy it, and how is it? is it good
@@aureate1023 nop, i havent. Im waiting for something similar that has bgr... now im aiming at the m32u to be available in my country
Wohoo was waiting for this one
why is every monitor so significantly worse than the odyssey g7? like all i want is that panel in flat but all other options are mire expensive and worse in performance
And that's why I'm currently still on my PG278QR (TN)... IPS would just be a side grade since the monitor is used for gaming only. VA would just be too blurry except for the Oddyssey, but damnit that curve is just too much.
Yeah, I would buy one too if they were flat. We need Linus to get one and try to flatten it out for the lols.
G7 colors look washed out
@@Logan-ix8vh Your previous display probably wasn't properly calibrated & oversaturated everything.
Lol! İ still use g7 . Everything is best except colors and if you play strong dark level games such as escape from tarkov , g7 is the worst monitor .
I wish you could review Gigabyte new line of 4k high refresh rate monitor, the model available right now like the 43 inch FV43U is insanely competitive for the price they offered but there's very little technical review to clear up some of the basic concern (subpixel arrangement, black smearing, HDR performance etc.)
Great review.... can also make a review on fi32q monitor thanks..😀🙏
Another great monitor to review would be the acer predator xb273u gx, 1440p 240hz agile splendor ips & its $700 usd msrp.

@@urkent4463 this exact monitor just working out my future setup as definitely needs improvement
I bought this a few weeks ago and absolutely love it. Took over as my main monitor for a Dell s2719dgf which is 155hz and the difference was actually substantial to my surprise. The colors on this are astounding, as well.
@@gr8one623 great to hear you're getting on well with it, gives me some confidence that I've made the right decision. I'm going to be doing an unboxing and review on how I get on shortly
I always enjoy these monitor reviews as Tim is very thorough with putting them thru their paces and comparison to other models out there. I've always found that he gives an honest and fair opinion as to whether he would or would not buy the reviewed monitor. Thanks Tim
Hey, Tim! Any plans to look into Predator XB273U? Seems like an outstanding monitor but I am reluctant to buy it without your blessing :D
check RTINGS review of it. Basically flawless
What's your opinion about LG 27GP850?? Was considering to buy that but wasn't sure if it's the right choice..
You should change your channel name to Monitorsunboxed, I freaking love how much effort you put into these videos, i know a lot about monitors thanks to you guys
That would not make sense, since the other half of the channel is not about monitors.
@@WCIIIReiniger it was clearly a joke
As for BGR on other operating systems, on most linux distributions it's a pretty easy setting to change, However changing it is system wide and not on a per monitor basis, so that may not always be desirable.
on windows its the opposite, system wide but only affects windows.
I was wondering how to change the different modes. Like enableling the balance mode. I bought this monitor and it will hopefully arrive soon so I would appreciate some help here. Thanks
I bought this monitor a few months ago and it has been great. I had been looking at the Samsung Odyssey G7, but that 1000R curve as a deal breaker.
Man yeah.... why curve?! WHY???
@@TheTykus unfortunately Samsung rarely makes a product that is just a good solid option with no dumb extra features. They always have to throw in some sort of gimmicky feature to "stand out from the competition" and it ruins otherwise great devices.
i have a g9 and love the curve, though is there a reason that the curve sucks to so many people on a g7? i havent seen it but i feel like it should be the same effect just in a smaller form since its the same radius, basically just taking off the sides of my current monitor and looking only at the middle 32 inch section doesnt seem like itd be too bad
@@lolickypeepee23xdd6 the curve On the g9 is easier to handle because it extends beyond your peripheral vision. The g7 is actually more curved than your eye is because it is all in the center of your view. It induces extreme headaches in a lot of people.
@@philwithcheese thats a good explanation thanks man, makes a lot of sense- kinda weird with that being the case that they decided to implement it and sell it like that
Finally been waiting for this one!
Lol same I was waiting for this exact video
It is a funny coincidence that just yesterday I decided to finally replace my 6yo Samsung 4K 28" monitor. So today this video comes out selling the FI27Q-X as "bang for the buck". The monitor costs USD 700,00 and is not even 4K, how can anyone call this "bang for the buck"? Here in Brazil, the F127Q-P (which is 165Hz) sells for BRL 5.599,00 (that's very close to USD 1.000,00 in current values), this price increase is mostly due to our import taxes. So, what did I buy? A 55 inch LG OLED 120Hz G-Sync TV for BRL 5.200,00. Yes, a 55 inch OLED 4K 120Hz TV is CHEAPER than a 27 inch 1440p 165Hz monitor, now that's what I call bang for the buck. Sorry, but I just won't go over these overinflated PC monitors anymore, and I couldn't care less about anything over 120Hz, as it has been proven that even professional fps players can't see any improvement at anything over 144Hz. So stop wasting money on overinflated monitors and invest your money where you will actually able to see a difference. TVs have evolved so much (they even have G-Sync now) that PC monitors no longer make sense.
Hey Tim.. Question, i'm about to buy a monitor, got it down to two.. = LG, 34GN850 & Dell, AW3420DW... Thoughts ????
Any luck finding any Lenovo G27q-20 for reviewing? 😎 I'm curious if there's a reason why Lenovo seemingly isn't sending out samples to any reviewers.
Please do a full review of the LG83A-B
I’m so freaking in the middle right now 😭 I have this monitor seems fines to me but it confuses me that his reviews from testing came out worse compared to Rtings review and most youtubers who have reviewed this monitor. It just worries me because of the price but so far you’re the only channel I’ve watched that said this monitor was below average for a 240hz monitor 😓
I feel you, I'm exactly in the same spot right now. I bought the monitor a couple of weeks ago after watching the review on rtings, and now after watching this video I'm not sure who to trust anymore. BTW I'm really loving the monitor so far.
Because He is fan of g7 i watched 10 rewiew just this guy doenst like this monitor . This guy dont tell truth because or response time .
I bought it and like it. But, then again I haven’t owned many monitors in the past to make a suggestion on it.
If the monitor is working well for you, that's all that matters right?
@@tarkaltuntas1381 .... What? He literally just gave another IPS monitor that competes with the G7 a great review. Even recommending it.
I don't know why nobody is talking about this but I have to say it. Your audio quality is absolutely amazing
Your monitor reviews are the best. Would it be on your radar to review the HP 27xq? I know it has its limitations but feel like for the price a 1440p monitor with decent response might have something to offer a budget conscious gamer.
I'm sure he'd recommend the Gigabyte M27Q over that for the price
Is the Asus ROG Swift PG279QM actually for sale in the US? I have even seen it listed.
can you include benq in your charts so we can have them for comparisons. theyre the standard monitor for csgo pro's
Will you guys test the Acer Nitro XV272U Xbmiipruzx ?
Patiently waiting for bung for the buck 30+ inch high refresh monitor.
Oh rip I bought over a month ago lol. Wish this review came out earlier. I went off the RTing reviews.
Are you gonna review the Acer Nitro XV282K?
Hey man I'm sticked between the Samsung G7 and Dell 2721dgf. If price isn't a issue, which would you get. I'm so confused cause I see G7 at the top of most the charts.
my question if the displayport cable that the original box brings is 1.2 or 1.4 or do you have to buy a dp 1.4 greetings and thanks I have that doubt
Why do they keep making BGR screens? WHY?
Whats a good option for a 42"-50" 120hz-144hz 1080p-1440p 16:9 budget monitor?
Have you checked the Gigabyte FV43U? Would be nice to have a review on it
Can you do Spectre E325B-QPN168? Love to see how this 400 usd 32 inch ips monitor stack up against premium monitors.
The response time results for the FI27Q-X were way better on rtings.com compared to your results. Clearly beating the AW2721D. Average total response time of 6.5 ms with 0.9% overshoot in the "Balance"-Overdrive setting compared to an average total respone time of 6.8ms and 10% overshoot on the Alienware. Any idea why that's the case? Normally, your results are pretty close to those at rtings.com. Thanks in advance.

Please review the LG 32GP850-B / 32GP83B-B. 32 inch 160Hz Nano IPS
I'm in the market for a 240hz 1440p oled 27-32", or maybe a 240hz DLP. For now the G7 looks like the best offer, I'm just not sure about the 1000r curve, if it was 1800 I would've probably ordered it by now. Now I just need to fork out 150eu for a gt1030....cause all my gfxcards are ancient by now. All to play a game that ran perfectly on a c2d e6600, or even a pentium 4
Please make a video on 1440p non game centric colour accurate working monitor.
Still Am Trying To Find Out If The NON QD Version Of The MSI Optix MAG Is Good Or NOt
I'm seeing this monitor out-of-stock almost everywhere with no restock indicated... this monitor has only been out ~ 1 year so I'd expect it to still be available. Only thing I can think of is that maybe it's going to be "replaced" by the upcoming M27Q-X (which is 240 Hz and rumored to use the same panel).
Maybe I misunderstood something here, but in my opinion a monitor that advertises a 240Hz refresh rate that can't deliver better than 51% compliance isn't a good monitor; it's a gross exaggeration, a lie worse than the "1ms response time" lies often told.
They pulled a VA on us with an IPS panel (except for Samsung Oddyssey VA).
Yeah. These companies don't even get that they're shooting themselves in the foot. How many people do you think have moved up to a high refresh rate panel(generally VA) only to run back to a 60hz TN which has significantly clearer motion? That happened to me with a '200hz' Acer years back which made me physically ill it was so slow. I instead upgraded to a better 60hz monitor and wrote off high refresh rates & 'gaming monitors' as snake-oil at best for a couple more years.
Your response time charts deviate a lot compared to the ones found in other reviews of this particular monitor. For instance RTINGS praised this monitor's response times and is suggesting it as a flat alternative to the G7 Odyssey.
Agreed. This monitor is one of the best 1440s available at any price and he shits on it. Baffling.
Does anybody else find the long stand legs on all these monitors annoying? I'm use to BenQ where the stand is just a small rectangle at the bottom that allows you to put your mouse mat right next to it. If you want to do competitive gaming you need a large mouse pad and to be somewhat close to the screen.
Could you please review the Mag274qrf NON QD version?
Watching these monitor reviews closely. In the market for something shiny. Making the jump to 1440 soon
What you waiting for? You're missing out
You'll love it. I went from 1080p 60hz to 1440p 165hz recently and it's an amazing difference.

How about to review Acer predator x34gs? Pretty interesting competitor to 34gn850 imo
Acer doesn't send them review samples because they'd fall short in hardware unboxed tested. Almost every monitor they make turns overdrive completely off when you enable freesync. Their real gsync module monitors are good other than that they are mediocre. Every other competitor allows you to adjust overdrive setting when freesync is enabled. Acer doesn't. Big flaw and really annoying because it's a simple firmware adjustment.
I've bought it and used it recently, still waiting for the GPU to test it at his max, but I'd really love to see an Hardware Unboxed video about it.

@@DrakonR I hope this is sarcasm lol

I got super excited when I saw Gigabyte Aorus....but then I saw it WASNT the FV43U. Still watched, but not the review I'm waiting for. :)
they could of saved some $$$ without all that ugly lighting and plastic on the back
backlight strobing is really important, how could they mess up that setting? are they using the "picture quality" mode?

@@davidalgobiagonzalez4471 I use ULMB 24/7 to bad some youtubers don't even care to mention that feature. But they seem to be adapting some of em still.
From the inverse ghosting present on the blurbusters example I'd day it uses a too aggressive overdrive setting. Picture Quality would've gotten you a blurrier image with possibly only some strobe crosstalk.
