Sprint Showdown In Dubai! | UAE Tour 2023 Highlights - Stage 4

2023 ж. 22 Ақп.
109 045 Рет қаралды

Stage 4 is the first of three consecutive opportunities for the sprinters. At 173.9km in length, this stage takes place along Dubai’s metropolitan coastline. The threat of crosswinds isn't quite as apparent in this part of the country, but in the UAE there is always a need to be wary! The run into the finish is another straightforward one with an arrow-straight final 700m to the line.

    • European “road furniture” has been a significant problem for the World Tour, not to mention the usual lack of safe “race furniture” (barriers, etc.) in some races.

    • Quite interesting, if you compare it to the roads seen in the Saudi Tour. Were multiple riders had 3 or more flat tires during a single stage.

    • he is there, not sure what his team was doing, he was really far back at the last corner and his teammates in random places whereas everyone else had a somewhat organized leadout train. He had 2 teammates infront and 1 rider a couple wheels back with 1.9km to go, then the next frame it's 0.9km to go and they've all split up and all 3 of them behind him and at that point if you're not in the top 10 into the last corner there's no chance in hell.

    • @@albr4 i was being facetious. Wow, he had plenty of wheels to follow, about 18 of them. Was never a threat, just like Day 1, only ten more quick guys were there to contest this sprint. This is why nobody was willing to pay him and Merlier got his spot on Quivkstep.

  • This commentator makes these stages very dull. There was so much going on that wasn't described: team dynamics, the composition of the breakaway, the use of team mates, a ballsy late attack by (I think) Mohoric. Not even mentioned! Could be so much better

  • Why do these videos always feel completely unscripted? It's like some guy is just rambling at you... Compare this to Lantern rouge - deep analysis of important moves, positioning, things that happened earlier that could affect end result, etc. There's no photo pauses to show exactly who they are speaking about. I get they want to churn this video out ASAP but it feels like the pacing of the narration is always a little off and that they have rushed to get it uploaded without thinking very much about it.

    @plopper_guy53@plopper_guy53 Жыл бұрын
    • Look - I don't know that much about this sport but here's an example of what they could have done here: - talked about the movistar rider who deviated from his sprint line and ended up crashing into the flag. - The fact that the DSM rider may have had it if the movistar rider had not swung out to the left as he would have had a longer draft What they actually said is just observations of what is happening. There seems to be 0 analysis... maybe that's what they're going for, idk but seems an underwhelming way to speak about what his happening.

      @plopper_guy53@plopper_guy53 Жыл бұрын
    • Its two different types of video. One is a highlight posted rather quickly after the stage has ended. The other is an analysis video that takes more time to do, edit and script and thus is also released later after the race. Both have their usecase.

    • This particular GCN presenter is the worst of the bunch. Tries to put you to sleep with his cadence. Has no idea of what is and is not important. Drones on about unimportant things to hype while missing obvious important stuff. He is, at least, marginally better than the dreck that is US cycling coverage (Phil Liggett and Bob Rolle need to be banished, post haste!)...but I prefer the other two commentators VASTLY more to this yawn fest.
