Rescuing a screech owl tangled in fishing line, New Jersey - 09/06/2015

2015 ж. 6 Қыр.

I was fishing in the woods when I heard the loud crying for help. It was a cute screech owl tangled in fishing line attached to a tree, so it was swinging like a pendulum pivoted to the branch. It took a while to get him free of the line but I think in the end he was fine. He flew across the lake without any problems.
This just goes to show how important it is to leave no trash behind when fishing, or doing any other outdoors activity. Always carry a trash bag with you, or at least put the extra line/garbage in your pockets or socks. Feel responsible for line that's tangled in the tree branches and try to clean them up as much as possible (I know it is not entirely possible sometimes)

    • a lot of people don't realise how much they're actually scaring an animal. we mean well, but sometimes we go in knowing less than we should about a situation. one example is how people pick up and move baby deer if they're just laying down alone. it's an act of kindness, but now your scent is on that baby and it's mother will most likely reject it now, basically killing it. i'd say the owl being scared is better than leaving it all strung up tho, so the guy did good

But Jesus the Messiah died for our sins, was buried, and then raised on the third day, according to the scriptures. He ascended into heaven and right now is seated at the Father's right hand. Jesus said, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel."

Its mate was in the tree above making all sorts of noise and watching it. I went in, meticulously untangled it and nudged it outside the cage with a rake. It flew up next to its mate and they sat there for about 15 minutes looking at eachother and me before they flew off together. It didn't take an animal whisperer to know they complete understood what I had done and were grateful. They're alot bigger than you think, absolutely gorgeous birds up close.

    • @@basedbear1605 it happens in videos of a zebra being eaten by lions. it struggles at first then accepts survival of the fittest and just calmly lays down with the lions as they eat him from the inside. He even looks around and sniffs them as they do it. Fear overload and becomes numb, I guess.

    • It also could have just been staying quiet and still/playing dead to appear unappealing. Y'know, a lot of animals do that. Some animals like sharks will literally just bite something because they don't know what it is and if it starts splashing around then the shark will see it as pray or a funny little thing and continue to bite at it. Similar with grizzlies. If you run away or flail around they will continue to attack you until you cease moving. Your best bet is to lie still and hope it gets bored before it takes something off or kills you.
