  • It truly was a once in a lifetime experience. We both have lived near lakes our whole lives and never saw a bird of any kind stuck like this. We did go back to where we took him a few hours layer and he was up in the nest with Mom and Dad 🦅 close by. In the fall they all migrated south.

    • @grand nagus I saw a discussion recently on TV with representatives of 3 different proponents of ways to fix the homeless problem. It quickly evolved into a shouting match and narrowly escaped becoming a flat-out brawl. Obviously there isn't a clear path to a solution. BTW, I'd appreciate it if you could be a bit more respectful. I don't use disparaging terms when referring to you, and I'd like the same from you. Finally, at some point in time, unless we blow it up first, the only inhabitants of Earth will be us, humans, and maybe roaches. Happily, I'll be long gone by then. A world without animals is no place I'd want to be.

  • One of the more important come backs of a species in my life time. As a child in the 60’s, you only saw eagles in captivity. Wild eagles were nearly extinct. But now, you can see them almost everywhere and they’ve become a back yard site for many Americans. We live near a little lake and we have one. When we lived in DC in the loop, surrounded by urban sprawl, we had a nesting pair in the woods near our house. Truly remarkable and a sign that mankind can make positive changes to our world.

Barely getting a bite when out of nowhere in the big city - a falcon - just swooped down and took the sausage leaving me with a sausageless hotdog. I was blank faced and my dad wouldnt stop laughing. The vendor gave me another hotdog free of charge after that.
