  • My father, Fred Corby, died on April 7 at 102, missing his 103rd birthday by 46 days.Dad was a decorated Army veteran of WW2 ,serving in England, France and Germany. He was part of the prep teams for the Normandy invasion and survived the Battle of the Bulge. In the past 2 years he survived COVID.twice , RSV once and pneumonia twice. He died during his 3rd pneumonia battle. He was a builder, a battler, a survivor, a member of the Greatest Generation as well as a quiet, modest man. He left a huge hole in my soul. Rest in well deserved peace, Dad.

    • My federal agency lost several employees who were managing projects and programs that allowed the terrorists to travel quickly and safely over thousands of miles of highways as they planned and carried out the bombing. Ironically, McVeigh was stopped on one of the Interstate freeways that my agency helped to fund, maintain, and upgrade. He killed several people who made it possible for him to almost make a quick get-away, but I'm sure he never gave a thought about that.

  • Thank you for including Hobo Shoestring. His YT channel is one of my faves and I loved hearing about his many travels along the rails. He was well known amongst the conductors and engineers and they'd sometimes sneak him into an empty engine or a DPU so he would be safe and warm out of nature's elements. R.I.P. Shoestring and keep on ridin' the rails in heaven!
