My father, Fred Corby, died on April 7 at 102, missing his 103rd birthday by 46 days.Dad was a decorated Army veteran of WW2 ,serving in England, France and Germany. He was part of the prep teams for the Normandy invasion and survived the Battle of the Bulge. In the past 2 years he survived COVID.twice , RSV once and pneumonia twice. He died during his 3rd pneumonia battle. He was a builder, a battler, a survivor, a member of the Greatest Generation as well as a quiet, modest man. He left a huge hole in my soul. Rest in well deserved peace, Dad.

I am sorry for your loss. 7:11

We could use another Robert McNeil these days. Someone who reports the news without trying to make it into a reality TV episode. RIP, sir.
Was he Canadian?
@@daviddun1389 Yes
Oh, you Americans hate that too? It's opinionated television, isn't it?
I mean he kind of did, if you see anything to do with his JFK assassination coverage. They all do, that's what TV journalists do.
We are lucky to have had him.
My mom called me to tell me about Dickey Betts. She's 81 and couldn't remember his name, but we both remembered Ramblin' Man, and how his guitar sounded. Growing up in a music loving household is good.
Wow..your mom making 81 is beautiful..my mom just turned 68..I hope she can live and be healthy into her 80's as well 💛
@@ShanecaRene Thank you. She does pretty well. I need to see her soon.
Yay Dickey Betts! He also created "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed" {On both the wonderful Idlewild South album and the great Fillmore East} And Dickey created "Jessica" a great loping instrumental.
The Keith Richards of American rock, like him it's amazing he lasted as long as he did.
@amandafranklin1914 Yes and if you haven't done it yet, record her stories about her life when she was young.
Lastly, and I'm surprised this wasn't mentioned, I want to remember those who lost their lives 29 years ago today in the Oklahoma City bombing
My federal agency lost several employees who were managing projects and programs that allowed the terrorists to travel quickly and safely over thousands of miles of highways as they planned and carried out the bombing. Ironically, McVeigh was stopped on one of the Interstate freeways that my agency helped to fund, maintain, and upgrade. He killed several people who made it possible for him to almost make a quick get-away, but I'm sure he never gave a thought about that.
That man was simply a fall guy.
@@ArcoirisDeZebulonDo you mean McVeigh was a Fall Guy? Even so, he was involved in the bombing. He’s an Accomplice ~ he’s just as guilty as The Mastermind behind it all.
My cousin died in the credit union in that terrorist attack.
Sorry for loss@@janetstreet7264
From an Australian, thank you for acknowledging those who lost their lives in the tragic attack at Bondi shopping centre in Sydney. It is appreciated. ❤
I concur.. 😊💟🇦🇺🙏🏻...
❤
A legend in the PBS News Hour. My condolences to Robert McNeil. Rest in Eternal Paradise
I use to watch the McNeil Report with my dad 🙂 RIP to Robert McNeil and to my dad 🕊️
People thought the Allman Brothers Band would never recover after Duane Allman’s death. Dickey Betts took the reins and made some of their best music.
Pattern Disruptive...from 1988, your ears will flap with joy. Two future members of GOV'T MULE are on this cd.....badass!!! King Betts!
I had had an urge to listen to Jessica. So strange that right after that is when I read of Betts’ passing.
Betts did a good job after Duane but he only stayed with the band for another 5 years. if only they could have weathered the storm could we imagine what else they could have done.
Thank you for honoring Shoestring. He meant a lot to us sharing his knowledge and love.
😢😢💔💔
Pretty shocking to me after I watched a few of his videos just before he disappeared and then confirmed death.
We lost Gary Rossington and now Dickie Betts. There must be one heck of a show going on somewhere. The talent of the two of those men can't be measured. We won't see talent like that again. RIP.
I love Rossington Collings!
"If there's a Rock n Roll Heaven, You know they've got a Hell of a band!!!"
A salute to Bob Graham. It would be nice if more politicians worked some of their constituents jobs to understand the needs of their district and how regular people live. 👍
I agree. If more people in general worked at least 18 to 36 months in the service industry- hospitality, retail, and food service- perhaps these jobs would be more understood and respected, instead of looked down upon by those with "better" jobs, and workers would be treated with more respect, and paid better.

I hadn't heard about Dickey Betts. RIP Dickey. A true artist.🎸
He didn’t get the credit he deserved. The guy brought a lot to the ABB. His guitar style and sound was unique to him.
RIP Dickey Betts. Thank you, thank you, thank you, for the music! 🌈🙏🧡
RIP Pooch Tavares I was listening to your music recently and recalling how great you and your brothers were back in the day.
Heaven now has that angel it was missing.
Madame Butterfly and Penny for your thoughts

R.I.P. to all. And thank you again Legacy, for another dignified obituary.
Fan of Rowdy Roddy Piper… Fun guy to watch as he entered the ring wearing a kilt… A truly good human being… God bless you, Mr. Piper…🙏🏻❤️
I remember when he did a tag team match teaming up with the legendary wrestler Dick the Bruiser
As a kid I hated him. I thought he was soo evil but I grew to like him when I got older. RIP Rowdy Piper 🎉🙌🎉
The Mount Rushmore of wrestling promo greatness, Roddy Piper, Dusty Rhodes, Ernie Ladd, Ric Flair. Only Flair remains💔

Hobo Shoestring was the freest man on earth. Courage and insight. God Bless and receive him. Amen.
@@eddielavene4190Don't judge a man until you have walked two moons in his mocassins. You didn't know the man. You didn't know his fears, his hopes or his shattered dreams. Perhaps you have never had any dreams of your own. Perhaps you are the sort of person who delights in stomping on other people's dreams, who rejoices when others fail.
Happy in his cage and telling other people to stay in theirs!@@susanp.collins7834
MacNeil was on the press bus in the motorcade when JFK got shot. Went into the Book Depository and used the phone to give an early report.
I used to love watching the show as a kid
He was one of a handful of reporters breaking through the jammed phone lines and the unprecedented chaos to chronicle the terrible moment to moment news on that sad and historic day in 1963…
Thank you for the beautiful and respectful tribute to those we have lost. Always so comforting and compassionate to listen to. May they all have eternal peace and rest. 🕊️❤️🙏
Dickie Betts. One of the best. I Saw the Allman Bros. Band in Long Beach, Ca. in 1971 when I was 16 years old. We had the front row!
Saw him play with the Brothers and with Great Southern. One of the greatest. Was struck by his sound before I even knew who he was. RIP Mr. Betts. And thank you.
Duane and Dickey the best dueling guitars ever
@@joekosmowski3865 TRUE !
Saw him with Great Southern at the Santa Monica Civic in SM , Ca. Tiny venue. Crowd wouldn’t leave after last encore. Band returned to play with the house lights on. BEST concert ever. RIP 😢Mr Betts.
Mark “Hobo Shoestring” Nichols was also a US Army Vet… Rest in peace bro.
Mandissa Lynn Hundley, known professionally as Mandissa, (October 2, 1976 - April 18, 2024) died at the age of 47 in her Nashville TN home. She was a Grammy award-winning Christian music singer.
She was so gifted. She will be missed.
Oh, my! I hadn't heard. This sent a chill down my spine. That's so young. I saw her in Live concert; she was an awesome entertainer. She knows the sweetness of being in the presence of Jesus now. RIP, dear Mandissa.❤
She was a 2006 American Idol contestant as well. Simon Cowell said once that she had the best pure singing voice in the history of that show.
I loved Mandisa, beautiful voice
I just wanted to say a big *THANK YOU* on behalf of the fans to all of the the *People* who made this website and *KZhead Channel* possible. A very *SPECIAL THANK YOU* must also go out to our public speaker *Linnea* for whom all these people that we've *LOST* always have a final honorable salute/tribute placed upon them!!! You always manage to spell everybody's name right as well as say it in just the *RIGHT* way, which still *AMAZES* me to this day.... ~ JonseyG 👲💖
RIP Dickie Betts. One of the Greats!
I Love the Allman Brothers band my ring tone is Midnight Rider Rest In Peace Dickey Bets 🎸 💐 Rest In Peace to All 💐
Dickie Betts now too. There better be one hell of a concert going on in heaven when I get there or I'm going to check out the other place and see what's kicking there
Very Funny, buddy.
That's exactly what I keep saying!
Nothing to joke about.. the other place is not where you want to go. Forget about Dicky Betts and the Allman Brothers and get to know Jesus Christ
Poor Pooch Tavares, Tavares' songs always bring back happy memories and remind me of my latter childhood years in the late 70s. They were one of the best disco/soul groups of that era. RIP Pooch 🙏
Not mentioned: Eugene Wolfgamm, singer and musician for The Jets and Boys Club, died April 15, 2024 due to complications from heart issues at the age of 56. While with The Jets, they were known for hit songs. Crush On You and You Got It All and with The Boys Club I Remember Holding You!!
Wow, I did not hear about that. I love those songs.
So young
I LOVED the Jets. My favorite song from them was "Curiosity". May he RIP...
Loved "Make It Real"... which instrument did he play?
They might not have released the information to the Legacy site.
Rest in Paradise Dickey Betts and everyone who have passed from this earthly realm. You will be sorely missed.
Thank you so much for your respectful inclusion of Dr. Savelle.
Rico Wade IS Atlanta. He will be deeply missed.
Some good music. Like TLC
RIP Dickey Betts. Thank you for all the great music over the years. You will be so missed!
Miss Ringgold, aged very gracefully. She was a beautiful young woman, that grew into a beautiful older woman. If u ever bumped into her, u would never know she was in her 90s, unless she told u. I liked Ramblin' Man myself. I sing that song to this day, when it pops in my head. Sleep in peace.🕊💐🎶🪽
3 baseball legends gone within a week.... sad
Thank you for adding Hobo Shoestring !
I remember when Robert Mc Neil was interviewing Oscar The Grouch about his ice cream business called "Bad Humor" on Sesame Street and I used to watch The Robert Mc Neil Report on PBS when I was a kid.
“Blue Sky” was one of the most perfect songs of all time…..RIP Mr Betts..
Whitey Herzog is a legend in St Louis. One of the good guys.
Paul Sorvino played Worf's adoptive brother, Nicholai on Star Trek TNG
RIP Mark Hobo Shoestring Nichols 🙏✝️ Thank You for your service and you'll be missed but not forgotten 🇺🇲
Also Mandisa passed away last night hopefully you can mention her in next weeks video thanks
Thank you. I had just read about this very sad news.
Mandisa was mentioned. You need to watch the video before commenting. PLEASE.
@@denyss3476 I did watch the whole video I didn't hear them talk about Mandisa
Neither did I.
Wow, Hobo Shoestring, gone. We were the same age. There's been a few KZheadrs I have watched that have passed away over the years. And some I wondered if that's what happened because their videos just stopped all of a sudden. RIP to ALL who have passed on...
There is videos on KZhead about good Ole hobo shoestring. He was found in the lake behind his home by a fisherman a week after his disappearance. No drugs or alcohol was in his body. He was disoriented the last time he was seen. I have been following him on KZhead

I am so glad that you mentioned Pooch Tavares. I would not have heard of his passing, otherwise. I enjoy their music and videos to this day. They bring me joy, and have helped keep me alive through some pretty devastating illnesses. Farewell, Arthur "Pooch" Tavares!
Paul Sorvino also appeared on the TV series Moonlighting as David Addison Sr., father of David Addison(Bruce Willis).
I always think of that and his appearance in the movie Oh, God! when I think of him.
Burt DiAngelo!!!!
Never ceases to amaze me how so many rap/hip hop artists die so young. 😥 RIP... we'll be playing your music forever. ❤
His family announced he died of heart failure.
Carl Erskine was also heavily involved in Special Olympics. He had a son with Down Syndrome who lived to be 63. He was also a harmonica player who entertained students at Anderson University and the Anderson IN community
RIP To All.🙏
Bob Graham ,One of the few Democrates I voted for. A true gentleman and a hard working politician who did a lot of good for the people of Florida. His family can be proud of the legacy he left
I voted for Bob Graham. He is probably the only demonrat I've ever voted for for governor. Only Bob Graham was no demonrat. I thought he was a good governor. He sure supported the death penalty.
One of the few Democrats? I'm 68, even grew up in Jerry Ford's Congressional District, and have NEVER voted for a Republican.
Oh, I hope you're not for any current crop of your republicans. Noxious weeds.
@@McfreddoHe is probably part of the Trump cult.
RIP Whitey Herzog.

Lot baseball players died this year rip all
I did not expect to see Hobo Shoestring mentioned!
Also just reported within the last few hours is the passing of American Idol contestant & Grammy winning Christian singer Mandisa. I'm sure she'll be mentioned in next week's video
Christian Artist Mandisa was mentioned in this video..people you have to watch the video..when you comment and haven't seen the video, you know how foolish you make yourself to be?
Dick Betts the last original member of the Allman Bro. band. Now they are all gone, wiped from the earths surface, kaput. All thats left is the music.
Coppola is ALSO the sister-in-law to actress Talia Shire.
Also remember, flags in New York have been lowered to honor the memories of Syracuse Police Officer Michael Jensen and Onondaga County Sheriff's Deputy Lt. Michael Hoosock who passed away, "In The Line Of Duty."
Thank you for posting this. I would have if you hadn’t. So many of us in Syracuse and Central NY are grieving the loss of these two fine men. May they RIP and may their families, friends, and the “blue brotherhood” find comfort and peace in the days and weeks ahead. 🙏🏼
Some die young and Some die older, Either way we all will be in an obituary somewhere sooner or later,
Dickey Betts should be on every list detailing the best guitarists of all time. he was truly amazing.
Thank you for including Hobo Shoestring. His YT channel is one of my faves and I loved hearing about his many travels along the rails. He was well known amongst the conductors and engineers and they'd sometimes sneak him into an empty engine or a DPU so he would be safe and warm out of nature's elements. R.I.P. Shoestring and keep on ridin' the rails in heaven!
Thank you for remembering Mark Nichols, aka, "Hobo Shoestring." He was also a veteran who served in the U.S. Army. He will be sorely missed.
Didn't hear about Mr. Taveres. Rip.
I must be getting old. I know way too many of these people. May they all rest in peace.
One this day too is when the Oklahoma bombing happened in 1995
I was a junior in high school when the Oklahoma City bombing happened and I still remember it as if it took place an hour ago. It was so heartbreaking and the country as a whole mourned together.
@@sandralyn5869 I was in my last year of college when this horrific crime happened. I did visit the memorial some years after and it was very emotional.

Didn't even hear about Dickey Betts passing. Really sad to hear. Love The Allman Brothers music. R.I.P. Dickey.
I'm disappointed that you chose to refer to Beverly LaHaye as an activist, anti abortion and anti equal rights. She was pro life and pro women but mainly pro God. No mention of her being the wife of the creator of the Left Behind series? Disappointed 😔
