    • @@SJ-xb7lg true, but the thing of valhalla is very true, it was an honor to die in battle, all men wanted such an honorable death. as we thought that we would go to valhalla with other legendary warriors and feats in its halls. yes im half nordic half swedish, i think one aspect that help this idea was how hard life was in the cold north during those times, so death was often seen as a release for all your burdens.

  • While everyone else is screaming war cries and smiling and laughing, Bjorn and Floki just look so angry and are in pure rage since they knew Ragnar the longest and were the closest to him. Floki was one of Ragnar’s best friends and Bjorn was his eldest child and spent a lot of time with him and learned a lot from him

    • sebastian krejlgaard I would have loved it if Alexander could be in the show in some capacity. He looks nothing like Gustav, so they could easily play separate characters, and he’s the most Viking looking of the brothers.

    • @@KruglugBadax yeah they weren’t that good. People worship them like they were amazing warriors when there was nothing special about them. They were only deadly because of their mobility on water allowing them to strike at villages and towns quickly so the enemy was unaware and couldn’t summon a large army to fight them. I’ll give it to them that they were smart with hit and run tactics but when facing off against a Saxon army of near equal size they would lose most of the time because Saxons were mostly just better trained.

    • @@unga8588 just makes me laugh because the Romans were battering these barbarians like a knife through butter - Vikings, Gauls, Brits, Spain, but for some reason the Vikings are much adored. In terms of the Saxons, they crushed the Vikings, Scots, Irish in 1 battle called Brunanburh. That just about badass the the Saxons were. I give them much more credit than the Vikings

  • The most interesting part of it all is that this really happened. The Vikings did avenge Ragnars death and ravaged England for several years to come. It wasn't untill Alfred the Great defeated the remaining army years after they first came that the war was over. It was also after this that the vikings settled in England.

  • I love how they didn't show the battle. I mean, there was hardly a need, they were massively outnumbered and the Vikings were out for vengeance for their King, which only intensifies their strength. Not to mention the King even said he doesn't even think God can help them, which spelled doom for them even before it started. I loved this scene, I loved how everyone rolled deep to avenge Ragnar.

    • Still 10:1 odds are beatable in the right conditions. The Romans beat Boudicca, the Greeks the much more massive Persian army several times, etc. Just because you have an overwhelming majority doesn't mean you can just run up to your enemy with no tactics and expect to win. If the english had slightly more cavalry here and well organized shield formations the vikings could have been in trouble.
