  • A late comment: The composer (Piergiuseppe Zaia) initially composed this as an orchestral piece for his film, "Creators: The Past". It's on the soundtrack of the film, and the title of the piece is "The Story of Jesus". When asked about the song, Zaia said that it's about the Garden of Gethsemane. After lyrics were written for the composition (under the title "Across Endless Dimensions"), the composer said that the song, for obvious reasons, should be sung by the most beautiful voice in the world. His co-producer started googling for the most beautiful voice in the world, and she quickly came up with Dimash's name. After watching some of Dimash's youtube videos and being mind-blown, she showed them to Zaia, who immediately contacted Dimash's team. Zaia created a demo recording for Dimash to hear the song. It required 3 different singers to make the demo, and even then the operatic soprano couldn't reach the highest notes at the end. Dimash agreed to go to Italy to record this track for the film's closing credits. Sony released Dimash's track last year with a video, using green screen and FX in which Zaia inserted Dimash into scenes from his science fiction film...so lots of spaceships, aliens and such.

Like it or not, one of Dimash's dreams 💭is to win a US Grammy, I suppose because he believes it signifies or validates success in the music industry. • His English has improved a TON. In 2017 he could basically only say "Hi, My name is Dimash". He will most definitely become perfect at it in not too long. He is currently studying English and Mandarin in depth as far as I have read. Great reaction. I love how he sounds like a lead guitar at the end starting from that E6. He literally sounds like a lead guitarist sliding on the strings.

    • So true. And more so with a different language group, that had no similarities whatsoever. Dimash is fluent in Kazakh (Turkic language group) and Russian (Slavic) both completely different but growing up with them they are natural for him. English is again completely different, with sounds / vowels that do not exist neither in Kazakh nor Russian and when you don't grow up with them you will never get them 100% right. I grew up bilingual too and there are these language specific letters/sounds that are telling immediately despite someone having a stellar grammar and vocabulary.

    • Exactly! As an English-speaking monoglot (despite studying French to A-Level, I quickly forgot most of it!), I really struggle with Kazakh pronunciation - which can be a problem, as it's my favourite language for our Di to sing in! But then I think of how much Dimash honours us, by not just singing in our language - amongst many others - but also learning it, just so he can talk with us Dears? and I'm inspired to just keep on practicing! I really wish I could roll my 'r's like he does though...😞

    • @#freeHongKong "frantically trying to learn English?? You forget one detail that sets Dimash apart from most artists is his aptitude for learning. 3yrs ago, 4 words of English, now he's stringing together whole coherent sentences and speaking conversational English and all that learned in an environment where English is hardly spoken. How many artists in the west have accomplished a fraction of what he's done so far in his relatively short career while still a student? and since when did an American or Western audience's interest become the hallmark for his career to matter? Why would anyone assume that unless he gets the nod of approval from the west his art cannot be deemed worthy of recognition? How absurb! That arrogance led to Dimash walking away from American tv: proving that much as he would like for his music to be known in America it will not be at the cost of his integrity as an artist. Millions love his songs in foreign languages even his American fans....and you think his poor English is the problem. It's not, the bigotry and prejudice of ppl is the real problem.

    • @#freeHongKong Wait a minute !!! Who are you to say who is a great singer and who is not ??! If I listed all of Dimash achievements , awards , compliments from very famous and even legendary musicians , the type of high class political and military leaders he performed for , I'll need 2 or 3 long pages . You English speaking people are egotistical as fuck , everything has to be about you , the whole world revolves around you ( just like the clown Rapaul telling Dimash that a star was porn when Dimash had already surpassed all three judges in many categories before even going on the damn show ) . Wake up , Dimash had concerts in 8 countries all around the world ( 6 without U.S & U.K ) all with huge crowds from the Middle East to Europe to Asia , his only album went platinum in a matter of seconds . Just because he doesn't sing in your language well or fuck that if he doesn't at all , that takes away all he accomplished at a young age as an artist and leaves him only as a " Vocalist " LOL . The man with 3 degrees in classical music & contemporary music & music composition , the man who received an invitation to join one the world's 5 biggest opera house theaters , the man who performed in the Kremlin & Astana Opera & Fifa World Cup & 2nd European Games & the Asian Culture Carnival , the man who received prestigious and high caliber awards from China to Japan to United Arab Emirates to Russia to Belarus to the U.S , the man who received very high praise from legendary musicians & top selling artists & famous composers & Grammy award winning singers and song writers & the director of the Astana Opera state theater & the president of the Chinese pop musicians association , the man who held a concert in Barclays center in N.Y. city with 20,000 people on par with someone like Beyonce who performed in the same place before , the man who performed as the headliner at the Gakku Open-Air Festival in Almaty, to a crowd of 150,000 people , the man who made people from from 63 countries from all corners of the Earth sing in his own language and show respect and appreciation for his culture . That man is a great artist period no matter what some egotistical people in the west think about him .

  • I think if you're going to make a song about something grandiose and endless, Dimash is pretty much the only guy you can pick. His voice has that sort of otherworldly quality to it that makes us all sort of subconsciously say to ourselves "yeah, this guy knows about the vastness of space, because he's probably from there." It really is brilliant marketing from the filmmaker/studio. I NEVER would've heard of this film at all if it wasn't for Dimash doing the OST for it, and now I'm interested. The visuals look really unique and I'm more curious about the world they've built for the film, so I'll likely pay to see it when it's available.

  • Thank you Elizabeth for this nice reaction. After SOS, this is my fav song of him by far. Along side the impressive dynamics of the song, I like the tasty combination of classic and rock elements here. P. Zaia is a good composer. Please check its soundtrack album version (e.g on Spotify) too. The interpretation and dynamics are even better. Btw, I read some of the the comments here and saw some comments criticizing you not to do reactions other than Dimash. Your channel is not the only one that reserves a specific day to react to a certain artist. There is nothing wrong with that. Please ignore those weird comments. They have to learn to stop reacting like impatient teenagers 😄 I like you and your prof reactions

  • I'm glad that you brought up the 'spacing' of words. I found that when I 1st tried to sing along, I was amazed at how 'slow' it was.. & I noticed others who tried to sing along ended up 'jumping the gun'. The delivery & pacing is stunning & hypnotic. I realized how difficult this is to sing while it seems like it would be much 'simpler' to do so. I am not a singer, but that was my observation. I LOVE this song & Dimash's singing of it.

    • @@TheCharismaticVoice I would maybe propose doing both in one video. Certainly the Gloria Wu Singer one as it provides context for the song and also shows his difficulty when he was ill during competition but Bastau would give you a different version of the song and also a comparison to a healthy voice. Just an idea. Of course approach it however you wish but thought from a teacher's point of view that contrast could be interesting while still providing context for the song :)

  • Hi, Amazing reaction to this superb performance from Dimash. As others have said this is from a new Italian movie "Creators - The past" which was scheduled for release late March but got postponed till later in the year. Sony music released the sound track and we had a lyric only video for a couple of weeks but Dimash said they would try to get a mv released as soon as possible. This was put together during lockdown using clips from the film and a little CGI and Dimash just performing against a green screen but the end result was not too bad!! 👌👌👌👌😊😊

  • Elizabeth Zharoff- I always look forward to your well thought out Dimash reactions/analyses. Like you, I pray Dimash will make great strides with his English language skills. Perhaps his new USA representative, IPZ talent agency, will make this a priority. Working closely with a language coach will make a big difference in ensuring Dimash’s diction is crisp and clear. I have been a Dear since discovering Dimash 2 years ago. I highly respect and admire him. In December 2019, I attended his Barclays Center, New York concert. It was an unforgettable experience! I look forward to attending one of those postponed concerts in Germany next spring!

Your reaction to this was wonderful and pretty much the same way I reacted the first time I heard it. I hope the two songs I just mentioned will be next on your Dimash journey. Better buckle your seat belt for "Adagio," though! Gary in Seattle.

  • Hi Elizabeth thank Yor for the reaction, interesting and fun as usual. Yes, You're right, Zaia has a classical backround as pianist, composer and singer (Tenor). He started piano and singing lessons at the age of four and at the age of the ten begun to study at the conservatory. Fun fact, I've just discovered that the movie has been shooted here in Italy very very close to where I live :). In an interview Zaia stated that Dimash will came to Italy for the movie promotion when the emergency will be over, I have to stay tuned on this.

  • The "fire bird" is "my soul free" from the body, soaring across endless dimensions looking for his creator. At least that is how I see it. Nevertheless I love it. He only pronounced one word (the) incorrectly (he pronounced it "de"), in my humble opinion, and that is pretty good. I only know a few words in Kazakh. This is not meant as a mean comment, just my observation. Thank you for reacting.

  • If you do the 2 "Daybreaks" as some are suggesting, be sure to do the Gloria Wu video first, for the tragic backstory in the intro, and the part where Dimash has to get treated for losing his voice before the performance. I don't think she altered the pitch - besides, half of the drama of the Singer performance was wondering if he was going to be able to sing it in his condition.
