@Copwatchtv obtained body and dash camera footage of a Florida man being pulled over in a truck that said Booty Patrol. The lettering and design looked similar to a U.S. Border Patrol vehicle.
The DeSoto Sheriff's Deputy started his traffic stop and investigated the truck. The deputy found probable cause to cite the man for impersonating a police officer.

0:55 unless Florida is different, then the deputy is 100% incorrect. Such lights are sold legally with the disclaimer that they’re for show and off-road use only. Unless he was using them on the public streets, he did nothing wrong.
You are correct, the officer's incorrect. Florida statute 316.2397 says it's illegal to move on any roadway within the state while displaying the lights. It does not address whether it's illegal to display the lights while stopped or while moving on private property.
Exactly, his attorney will have his charge dropped immediately by stating his clients conduct all occurred on private property.

This truck is legal. It doesn’t say Police or Border Patrol, as long as he’s not using the red and blues on the public streets, it’s legal. Private property has different rules. The Police just don’t like it when they are wrong.

There certainly is border patrol in Florida… they patrol the coastline in conjunction with USCG. Florida has always been a hub for illegal immigration, among other things the BP likes to involve themselves in.

Back in my 20s I had led lights in my car with a sub woofer that flashed. Silly me did that at the airport and the officers told me to turn off😊 I definitely removed them after that but thankfully I was given a warning.

I'm not sure if anyone else heard this but on the officers radio. He aays the truck is registered to his father. @1:31 and @2:18 the return comes back to the owner it sounds like "sexually violent predator 2018 white Chevrolet" im not aure if this radio traffic relates to the owner. If so then this means that a sexually violent predator has a son that is driving around minors in a vehicle that vaguely resembles a police vehicle. Finally there is no indication that this individual was using any lights to try to do any type of police action which is probably why he was not charged for impersonating and arrested. Sounds like he basically got an improper equipment ticket

I'm part of the public, and I have no problem with "look a likes".
It's a joke... If they use the lights on a person then it's a serious matter, but to copy a vehicle design and write "booty patrol" on the side or "penis" instead of police isn't a problem. Real police vehicles have confused me more, like dark grey (really dark charcoal grey) with "police whatever patrol" written in black letters.

The cop can't (legally) detain passengers unless they are suspected of a separate crime/infraction - the scope of that deputy's traffic stop began and ended with the driver. And since the passengers weren't lawfully detained, they were free to leave, and didn't have to ID.
