  • Ex user here, even when I was using I’d never lie and try and say it wasn’t mine when it was on my persons or in a purse that was obviously mine lol. I’m actually glad that I got caught once because that’s all it took! I got into a program and completed it and now I have zero record and I’m 4+ years in recovery!

  • I'm a recovering heroin, fentanyl and crack addict. I was also escorting and living out of hotels and motels. I was always honest with the police. They're not dumb 😂 and they're so used to being lied too that when someone is honest with them they will definitely do what they can to help you out! It was a long time before I was put in jail by a judge because I always was respectful and honest and I know ppl say the police aren't the judge and jury and that's true but best believe that police report is following you to court and will be taken into consideration for sure. Everything happens for a reason. When a judge finally put me in prison, I found out I was pregnant (only 6 weeks thank god!) and I've been sober ever since. My son turned 3 in December of 2022 and I will have 4 years clean in July 2023.

  • That last one ... wow. You immediately notice the shift in the officers once they realize what's going on. Went from "you're up to something shady, do as you're told" to being calm and empathetic, and even letting him know to call them if he ever feels that way again. Just goes to show, you never know what someone else is going through. I understand cops tend to have to keep the "no-nonsense" attitude because they get lied to constantly, but hats off to these two who know when to shelf that demeanour and switch to a softer approach. In all likelihood, they prevented that man from getting that last push that would tip him over the edge.

I passed out think oh well this is it.I woke up the next morning, on the tiles surrounded by a huge puddle of congealed blood, took myself to hospital where I had to admit what I'd done and spent the next hour getting stitched up and super glued. Then another 4 days locked in a phsc ward. These days I can't do more than 2 days in hospital before going batty. I have checked myself out a number of times when they thought I was close to a heart attack because it's less stress to be at home. I didn't tell anyone what I was about to do then and I could see it in the young blokes eyes. I hope he's ok

And two, the drugs were always "minor" compared to these days. Pot, pot. Some crack cocaine, etc. Now, it's meth, meth, more meth and fentanyl laced stuff.

I was always addicted to something, but I have been in recovery for the past decade from drugs. Six years from alcohol. I know the thought process, if I had ever come across the police I would have been honest, it is your best option.

  • I know everyone tries to be like "I let someone borrow my car" or "these pants aren't mine..." (that's the best one yet) - but I once found myself in this situation for real. I left my jacket at a guy's house and later that night I went back by with a different friend to retrieve it. So, we're standing inside this guy's camper trailer talking to him, he has given me my jacket back and I put it on- and the cops swarm the place. Luckily- he didn't leave anything in the jacket so- I didn't have anything on me. But I was sweating it hard when they started searching- I really didn't know what was in those pockets. Even so, I never told the cops because I know they've heard that silliness a million times, it's never true, and it would've just made them more suspicious of me. If they had of found something, I would've just kept my mouth shut and told my lawyer- not them.
