    • But then dealers wouldn't deal on new ones and used ones wouldn't depreciate. I prefer Mazda remain an open secret shared by 2% of the population; you're doing well to pay MSRP at a Honda or Toyota dealer. Even when the car's crap, like a 1.5T CR-V, ZF 9HP anything, or a CVT Corolla, the dealer won't budge because they know some other sucker will buy it without knowing any better, and they'll happily tell you so. Mazdas are some of the last affordable quality out there, I got 15% off my Mazda6 and I liked it better than a Camry or Accord. Mazda themselves have said they're happy with 2% as long as it's the most loyal 2%. Compare that to VW, who approach 4% of the market on a good day, but whose crappy cars lose their "premium" sheen so quickly that buyers bounce back to another brand, and don't try VW again for 10-15 years. A brand lives or dies on its ability to move customers up through the lineup. Golfs are decent cars, but hatchbacks don't sell in America. A Passat or Jetta buyer isn't moving up the VW AG range into Audi and Porsche, the way a Toyota Corolla buyer would retire in a Lexus ES, a Honda Civic turns into an Acura TLX, or a teenager driving a used base Mazda3 will eventually carry their family in a loaded CX-5. High churn is bad for a car company, you need to create identity, loyalty, and emotional investment. That's where the highest profit margins are. A Chevy Aveo needs to become a Cadillac Escalade, not a Honda Fit and then Acura RDX. Nissan has over 5x Mazda's market share, GM over 10x, VW double, but I'd rather be Mazda right now.

      @DJBla2e01@DJBla2e013 жыл бұрын
    • Dylan Byrne, that isn't the case here in the US... The Cx5 sells in decent numbers, but the rest of the lineup has been way down compared to the competition. It's very understandable for the 6's numbers to be extremely low, since not only is it in a class of car most likely to be traded in for a crossover the instant they get extra $$$, but despite the gen debuting as a 2014, it started selling in mid 2013. It's basically a 7 year old car, making it its oldest car in its lineup. If you don't need a turbocharged engine or air conditioned seats, then why pay $30+ grand when you can get just about the same car lightly used for around $15 grand? But on the other hand, their Cx9... their midsize 3 row... sells only slightly more units than the 6 when the rest of the competition sells infinitely more of theirs... well into the hundreds of thousands annually when every newer mazda other than the Cx5 is a pretty rare sight in many places in America.

  • Bought my first Miata 30 years ago. Just purchased my fourth. But ya know, it goes beyond that. Here’s this rather small car company, and when the whole world is saying the little 2-seat roadster is dead - that the convertible is dead - what do they do? They come out with the Miata. And when the whole world is saying the rotary engine is an experiment that failed, what do they do? They come out with the marvelous RX-8. This company is not like the other car companies. This company has, at its core, a bunch of engineers with a passion for automobiles. Not just bean counters with MBA’s, but engineers willing to stick their necks out to pursue something they believe in. Even when the rest of the world is saying “no, you can’t do that”. I just gotta reward a company like that with my business. And so I do. ❤️

Great cars, great engineering, great value, and great driving experience. I own a 2016 Mazda 6 Grand Touring and a 2017 CX-5 Touring and both are rock solid vehicles. At the very least any auto enthusiast can appreciate an automaker that is still committed to creating fun to drive vehicles, refining the internal combustion engine, and staying away from that CVT transmission crap.

The only thing I’ve heard is that some people were having issues with the automatic transmission but it was very early in the cars life, like less than 15k miles and I believe it was due to the valve body at the time which was updated. That being said, it was a very small percentage of people that had that issue so not really even a drip in a bucket for them. I’ll always recommend a skyactiv Mazda

    • Upon inspecting the door jambs of all the models in a local Mazda showroom, I found that the only one on the floor not made in Japan was a Mazda3. But that wasn't a 2019. One nice thing about Mazda's being a small company is that they haven't been able to open plants here in the US until recently, so most of their cars are still made in Japan, like the two Mazdas I own. The 2019 Mazda3 models aren't selling as well as previous models, perhaps because 1) they've increased their price along with the quality of the interiors to compete with the likes of the Audi A3. I helped a Honda-leaning friend buy a car last year and once she sat in in the CX-5 the quality really got her attention and she bought the Mazda instead. And 2) the Mazda3 hatch has some polarizing styling, which I didn't particularly like in initial photographs but loved in person. The Mazda3 hatch is still available with a manual on the top trim. To repeat what was said before: If you're getting a Japanese car, get one that is made in Japan. If the one you're looking at isn't made in Japan, buy a different trim level or format (hatch vs. sedan vs. etc.) in order to get one made in Japan. Don't get a turbo if you can get a larger naturally-aspirated engine (e.g. get the Mazda 2.5L non-turbo vs. the Honda 1.5L turbo). Don't get a CVT for now, but hey, maybe they'll be great in a few years (get a modern automatic - or even better, a manual if you really want to be engaged in driving your car.)

    • @@jasjuaquin140 As a former Mazda tech, I can honestly tell you that the CX-9 is probably THE BEST Mazda ever! Never seen any issues with them. I have seen some issues with the Cx-5's, but mostly minor things (Seat warmers/strut covers), A LOT of issues with the CX-3's, but the CX-9 had 0 issues. Also, I prefer the 3.7 V6 over the 2.5T. While the 2.5 is much easier to work on, the power and torque are not available on-demand, since the turbo needs to spool. The 3.7 get really good mileage for its size, and it accelerates like a dream. Both of them are really quite and do a great job of isolating tires/wind/suspension noises. I think the CX-9 even beats the BMW X5 in that aspect. The (HORRID) CX-7 were canceled and had a LOT of turbochargers issues (among MANY other issues). All the "Mazda-Speed" line had Turbochargers issues as well...so I'm a little worried about Mazda's and Turbos, but only time will tell since these are brand-new designs of turbos and engines.

    • She is not much of car person. Just want a wee town runner for the kid, and we only brought low spec glx something basic that's wht I wanted. You are right it's very small and compact which suits small ladies. Even that I wish to get the cx30 instead. For guys cx5 as minimum will b my 2 cents words.

  • I did my homework and got my wife a 2016 CX-3. She's small, doesn't travel far, doesn't haul much cargo, and likes AWD. I liked it so much I finally got rid of my 2006 Honda Odyssey (kids are grown now) and got a 2017 CX-5. Gotta admit that it iss, by far, the most reliable car I've ever owned. 50K miles and not a single problem, not even annoying little glitches. But I live by what Scotty says in his videos - "PERFORM REGULAR MAINTENANCE!". Makes all the difference.
