It pains me to say it, but this video was way more useful to me than a Lambo review.
mct8888 this comment is so underrated
All i learned was that if you want to spend 40k on an AWD cross over, don't. Buy a Golf R instead
Cars that people actually drives and see in the streets.
Lambo is a dream car. Just listen acelerate the engine is stunning
mct8888 I did a video on FWD vs AWD if you are interested in that aspect too
As a CX-5 owner I thoroughly enjoyed this review.

I have the Mazda CX-5 and it really is a great car .. Good engine, quiet cabin, good interior materials and good seating position. Price / quality a very good car
Quiet cabin? So, when you pass holes and stitches on the road - it is so smooth and you do feel it?
@@ivperri4148 we dont have holes on the road
@Sunflower Do you like the seats though? I feel that they hurt a bit after longer drives
Dove one and thought the ride was stiff and noisy
I have z 2017 mazda cx5 , I've had it three years and 40000 miles on it still works like the day I bought it
Been loving my CX5, it really is a wonderful car. The way it handles long bends and sharp turns, it's actually better than most mainstream sedans and is akin to, dare I say it - MX5. Considering the size of the car, the fact that it can just dart into long bends and kinda begs you to floor it out of the corner while keeping its composure, that's just fun.
How.much bigger is it than the cx-9? Dods yours have turbo?
I say this too after driving my CX5 a while. Then I get back in my MX5 for a Sunday drive and remember how dumb my thoughts were.
@@Mike-pb7jm Yep. Not so much zoom zoom. But still better than anything in its class.
@@martyjacqz7901 its smaller than the cx-9
Enters in a race car: its bumpy, no storage space, and poor visibility Enters an suv: not enough power, vague suspension and has poor throttle response
Yea was wondering about that...
You hit the nail on its head buddy.
That’s why you want a sporty-ish sedan
HARMENDEEP DHILLON Perfect Balance: Porsche Cayenne 👌
The Mazda CX-5 is fun to drive.....paddle shifters....what like maybe 1 second faster and 20 more hp then the other two... Come on, it's a utility vehicle. We are talking about crossover suv's. If you are the type to try and drive a crossover like it's a sports car, your a D-bag. Or at least you're going to look like one. This review needs a review!
Mazda CX-5: Driving dynamics and looks Honda CR-V: Comfort and practicality Toyota RAV4: Rugged style and (perceived) reliability
They all have reliabilty, excluding the crv 1.5l turbo
sᴀᴍɪᴜʀ ʀᴀʜᴍᴀɴ the Mazda will rust away shortly
@@ConemantheBarbarian this isn't your 1990 miata it wont rust away that easy lol
ConemantheBarbarian the older Mazda were built cheap and had a tendency to SHOW rust on wheel arches. Older CRV and Rav4 have plenty of rust underneath the car and in the wheel wells. The new Mazda has stepped up the build quality and materials. I don’t think there will be a noticeable difference.
I just can't ever call a Rav4 rugged. Sorry
Hearing l/100km brought me so much joy. I haven’t watched a non-US/UK car review in such a long time. Glad I found you guys.
"My favorite river" Team CX-5 for sure! I disagreed on the steering, maybe I just feel more comfortable with the artificial weight. The steering in my CX-5 is incredibly smooth and much more responsive than any other crossover I test drove.
As much as I like the CX-5 overall I will say the steering to me falls short. It doesn’t feel good to me but I guess I’m just used to my ford fusion
@@Shortorderboy1048 do you drive it in sports mode?
I agree with you. I have a 2021 CX-5, and the steering is effortless and smooth.
@@Shortorderboy1048 Might be the same with me, drove an 0'7 Camry before getting a CX-5. The steering is good, responsive, quick, but feels floaty and as if they tried to hide how light it feels. Only dislike I have for the vehicle.
I love my CX-5, it looks amazing, drives really good and wasn’t expensive. I’ve driven coupes for 5 years and wanted some taller and “bigger,” without getting a huge car. There’s something for everyone out there at the end of the day.
Tried them all - bought CX5 ..I agree with everything you said except the quality of the interior. It is noticeably better than other two and there is not even a slightest doubt about it.

We bought the CX-5 after driving all of them. We couldn't be happier with it.
Hilarious intro, entertaining the whole 21 mins, funniest end. Guys, thanks for making reviews not only informative but also fun. I've seen a lot of your revs and feel kind of reassured owning a Mazda (3). Awesome channel!!!

I own a CX-5 and I find it to be rather sporty and fun to drive. I’m almost positive mine picks up and goes faster than what y’all showed, acceleration has never let me down in the car.
Trust me, it just sounds loud and doesn’t do much on WHP

Thank you for being the show the you are. Out of all the Canadian car review shows out there (cable TV included). Yours is by far the most interesting to watch. You guys knock it out of the park with how you interact with each other with comedy, facts and personal feeling about the review car. Even in this episode where I couldn't give a personal damn about crossovers. I found myself watching the whole episode without being bored. In fact, the video felt kind of short until I looked at the play time. When you did the collaboration with Jason Cammisa (congrats by the way), everything was seamless with how you guys interacted with him and his comedy and presentation style excellently. And you got to meet Randy Pobst too. Keep up the good work. I'm definitely a fan.
You guys deserve millions of followers. Another excellent review.
I love how these guys get to the main event 1st - how do they drive?; and then do the interiors/practicality bit. Totally appreciate it. I wish other reviewes pick up on this as well.
I bought the RAV4 premium XLE. I just fell in love with it, its comfortable and offers enough "luxury" for the dollar, while still offering space.
happpy for you

Interior materials and quality are far from "luxury". Only car that can really be associated with that term in this particular mainstream category is the Mazda.
@@ShafinRehman 100%.

The outro was the absolute best, hilarious! :D
Your're intros are super unique. Keep it up and obviously the excellent content as well.
Your videos are so good I watch them even though the specific car is boring. That’s how awesome your videos are. Keep up the great work!
That outro was the HIGHLIGHT of my day!! Thank you guys!
I know! What's that song??
aaahhh that air guitar bit at the end was so deliciously dorky! thanks for putting a smile on my face!
One thing I really like about your channel is that you are good at judging vehicles by what they are and what their intended mission is. Most reviewers will drive a car like and spend the whole video bashing it because it isn't a Ferrari or a GT500
I test drove all three and went with the CRV. The lane keep is way more advanced than the others and we got a great deal on one. The interior of the rav4 was lacking in the power trims and the Mazda just doesn’t have the space (it felt small). Again, these cars are to go on long distance trips and grocery shopping.
We had a ‘21 RAV4 loaner a few weeks back and I rented a ‘22 CX5 this past weekend. Interior usability was fantastic on both, why more automakers can’t do this is beyond me. That said, the CX-5 absolutely blows it away in every way imaginable except overall interior space. The RAV4 was bloated, soft, and handled like my dads 1991 Dodge Ram…and it was just as loud on the inside. That CX5 was incredible though.
My parents bought a CX-5 back in December. I knew they made the right choice. It was between that and the Tiguan SEL Premium 4Motion. End of the day the Mazda was just easier because they were trading in a 2014 CX-5. Anyway love the content as usual. Great outro too! LOL
Lol I genuinely enjoy the intros 😂 and honestly the occasional lambo video and stuff like that is great but I really enjoy the fact you guys do these videos on affordable everyday cars that I see on the road more than a lambo or Maserati or RR or other cars of that nature. The content and the humor and even the dumb dry humor I appreciate and laugh at. These videos are probably what I look forward to most on KZhead each week. Can’t wait for more content you guys are doing great.
I have a 2016 CX-5 and I haven't found anything I dislike about it yet, it truly is a fun car to drive. Even without the turbo, it has plenty of power for me.
The intro was outstanding piece of art, now the standard of production value for car videos have risen up by a notch
The CR-V is a realistic drivers car. It’s super comfortable even on long trips, the lane keep assist is basically auto pilot. It’s true about the engine having a bit of turbo lag but 80% of people live in cities where that will rarely matter, and this car handles traffic like a boss!
@Угон Харлеев The Honda CVT is much more responsive than the Toyota one. The CX5 will be king here, but I ended up going with Honda!

Wish the CX-5 had a more competitive fuel economy. Only thing keeping me away from it.
You guys are just brilliant! The humor, information and production of your videos are second to none; keep up the awesome work and thanks for the info and the laughs :)
I drove a CX-9 with the turbo 2.5 and I have to say it's a fantastic engine. Even in the bigger CX-9 it's still quick and very responsive. I was also amazed at how well the CX-9 manages to corner. I gotta drive one of these new CX-5's though.
Thank you so much for this video!! I recently sold my Honda civic and I love Hondas BUT now I'm leaning towards getting a Mazda with the recommendation of my nephew and so far I'm starting to like the look of the Mazda (body style, features, specifics, reliability).
Drove them all (and the Tiguan) and ya it’s the CX-5 everyday. Starts with the proportioned, classy looks, continues with the solid door-closing “thunk” and well you know the rest...
Now I want the ‘Throttle House 4’ to make an album. All air instruments! Sounded great 👍
I test drove the Toyota RAV4 2021 and the Mazda CX-5 2021 and was totally won over by Mazda. Considering my whole family has Toyota vehicles, Mazda really impressed me and I’m so happy with my purchase ❤️

This wasn't a fair comparison. You're comparing a stylish drivers vehicle to a dishwasher, and to a washer and dryer on wheels. PS love my CX30
This video really helped me when I was looking for a new car! I was looking at all 3 of the cars in the video and ended up going with the Mazda after test driving all of them! I felt that the RAV4 and CX5 felt pretty comparable when driving and felt great right away. The CRV was really familiar and overall pretty solid too. I went with the CX5 because I really liked the luxury look and feel of the car in comparison to the RAV4.
its japanese, made in japan. the others are made in usa, not so good.
Exactly what I needed. I’m torn because of the comfortable seats in the CRV and the quiet and handling of CX5.
Love how these are fun to watch and they sure do seem to have fun making those videos.
I have a 21 rav 4 and I love it, it’s rugged and has a more aggressive styling and handling. It’s also very comfortable inside
I LOVED the guys...sooo hilarious & cute 💕 The review was perfecr. Got me having no.doubt of getting the Mazda CX-5.
I love your videos, guys. You even mentioned not reviewing these as if they are race cars, but... you _did_ fall into that a little bit. The driving dynamics matter a bit, but it's the "livability" that matters with these practical vehicles. These cars are meant for every single day, doing all of your errands, taking trips, etc., and doing it with compete reliability. The RAV4 is the one I'd choose. Still a great video, very helpful, and very fun to watch.
Got my Cx5 from Carvana a week ago. Fucking love it. This thing steers and controls like crazy. You can tell the manufacturers wanted you to have fun and enjoy your drive

@@Horus4387 new sonata looks gorgeous inside-out, not sure, but I think I saw it in person. For the rest - of course I mean all line like qx80, q70 etc., not only glc (hate it), Sportage, Santa Fe and previous gens of sonata. And that's my point - in overall Mazda has nothing special in design, for 6 it's well outdated. Actually 3 looks the same as previous gen, and cx5 is a little bit different in front (situation was the same with old Outlander, changed grille, headlights and called a new gen, XL, but basically it was the same model). Actually I think the issue with Mazda is lack of money, they can't afford to change model line every 4 years and create a variety of models for every request. Not complaining, but for new it's matter of fact, they have a very narrow segment where they can't compete with major brands like VW (Tiguan), BMW (x3), Honda (CR-V), Toyota (RAV4) and, I think, even Ford has better chances with new Escape which is all-new). And I need to note that Ford looks very good IRL.
@@sergeymatpoc i think mazda is better than toyota and honda in terms of apples to apples comparison of cars.. better interior, exterior and driving dynamics..

The CX-5 is very compelling (for the segment). Have been considering getting one but the competitor hybrids are so much more fuel efficient at around 6L/100km. That is a massive savings in fuel costs. For "value", the Rav4 will likely have the best resale and reliability, but just get the hybrid. It's only a few grand more and has more power. The improved fuel economy alone will pay for the difference in a few years. The hybrid transmission is also reported to be more reliable than the non-hybrid.
Good job guys I would go for the RAV4 Hybrid or adventure. I have a 2019 RAV4 trail in Canada great AWD and towing capacity 3500. I enjoy the drive if it city highway or gravel road. The torck vectoring is great in snow or gravel roads.

I have RAV4 hybrid, the one with a dark roof, and it also keeps me in the lane and even handles road curves, also it has decent adaptive cruise control. I didn't try Honda or Mazda, but my RAV4 launches very quickly. If I need an instant jolt from a dead stop - just put it in the sport mode and 40-50 km/h are reached in a few seconds. I like it!

The CX5 is my first car and I can say I am so happy with it, I test drove the RAV 4 but I decided to go with the CX5 it just suited me better, in my opinion, it is the best SUV in its class. I would recommend it.
It’s the best suv in class according to your needs. The 99% of people buying SUVs in this class are buying the CR-V and RAV4, they meet the needs what what suv buyers want way better.

I found this review to be very accurate and great overall. I really agree with you that the CX-5 is not as cramped as people make it seem. Although I did feel that this review was kind of brief, but other than great review!
Traded my my 17 CX-5, and 19 Fusion in. Test drove the the 22 CX-5, Rav-4, & the CR-V. I went with the CR-V. Liked the CR-Vs over the other 2 by far. But everyone is going to have their own needs and that is ultimately how people are going to have to decide. This is a good side by side video. Been in automotive as a tech since 1995, and my dealership is a Ford and Mazda dealer. I will say the 1.5 turbo CR-V has a lot more passing power than the 1.5 turbo Fusion, but the Mazda does out power the Honda. Steering in the Honda is by far better than the Mazda. Taking corners is a much smoother experience.
Yep totally agree!!

I traded in my 2016.5 CX-5 for a 2020 CX-5. So far I've been very happy with both. I purchased a CX-5 four years ago for the same reasons they listed in the video...the CX-5 was by far the closest to driving a car. They didn't mention it, but I love the center console joystick.

Your sketchs are awesome keep this going
Test drove all of these quite a bit, and loved them all, and took some notes while at the dealerships (shared below). Ultimately the short answer is none of them are clear winners due to each offering different aspects that may appeal to you more/less. CX5 - Outstanding looks, handling, options, but only comes in black trims mostly (the advertised other colors I was not able to find anywhere in my local region). I found the visibility to be just ok and felt a bit cramped in. Rav4 - Best MPG, great looks. Cons: very flat driving experience, found it to feel much bigger than the other two (perceived size). CRV - Felt sporty in sport mode, CVT is responsive, great looks. Cons: neither the best handling NOR best mpg, but a great mix of both. Can get other colors apart from black that is available in my area. All are awesome.
Really good quality review and I love these guys, but some of the complaints are so harsh that I'm not surprised auto manufacturers aren't sure what to do in a lot of situations. They complain about the right things that need improvement and then are really harsh about petty things that aren't as important which draw unnecessary attention when there are areas that could use way more focus. the critical communication isn't as clear as it needs to be, only sometimes.
Well put, more manufacturers need to understand this when taking notes from motoring journalist reviews. There should be an annual or semi-annual reminder on the phone of anyone involved in developing new models that says something along the lines of "Motoring Journalists literally HAVE to complain about at least a few things in most reviews to prevent people from accusing them of biases, lacking sufficient standards, or even just being too lazy/vague. Their complaints may also be very subjective, and not representative of the average consumer's opinions. Their specific opinions may be tempting to latch onto because surveys and customer feedback can be vague, but they are most likely not part of your target demographic, so do the hard work of listening to/ reading as much verifiable consumer suggestions/complaints as possible so that you can make a product that we are all happy with." [That was supposed to be a comical sentence or two, like a typical calendar reminder, but I got a bit carried away 😅]
