  • That one ring Dirk has is priceless. He could have done it the easy way by leaving Dallas, joining Kobe with LA, or by joining any other superstar to form their own super team but no. He did it his way, and got that sweet 2011 team over the super team of the Heat. He may not have as much rings as the other greats, but that 2011 ring is more than enough to make him a top 10 NBA player of this era. #Swish41DallasMVP

  • A lot of these plays - aside from the game-winners - are dunks off of textbook fakes... As a defender, how do you not bite on his fakes? If you don't bite on his fakes, he'll swish the jump shot anyway. Dirk's one-legged fadeaway is the second most iconic and unstoppable shot in NBA history (next to Kareem's skyhook), he is the second greatest power forward of all time, a top twenty player of all-time, and his 2011 championship will always be one of the most difficult and celebrated titles in NBA history.

  • Dirk has been such a good player for so long, we can't forget him. He might be going away this year. It might be his last 14 games so appreciate him. Because when he is gone, I don't think there would be anyone else who would be as great as he was for the Mavs. He was the only star in that 2011 championship.

  • This man could pull up anywhere on the court and make it happen. Didn’t matter where he was. Top of the key, in the paint, mid-range, at the FT line. He was never going to win style points or dunk contest, but that’s not what he was about. He was effective. Just a pure ball player and it was a pleasure getting to grow up watching him.

  • Players will never understand how confidence inspiring Dirk Nowitzki is. There is never a chance when he gets the ball, does a few spins, and fades away with his knee in your face that you question if it will go in. You feel that it will never miss. That Dirk is just too good. His movements are so fluid that you never know if its humanly possible to contort your body at such a steep angle and rainbow all the shots in - just like he does with ease. Dirk's statue will be iconic, and his style and work ethic will be missed by all these younger players.

  • I don't understand why Duncan is considered by many to be the greatest all-time PF. Obviously his defense was better, but Dirk is the 6th all-time leading scorer in NBA history! One of the most dynamic scorers the NBA has ever seen. There's never been another 7 footer who can make the shots he makes.

Every possession where he got the ball on the post felt like a sure basket. Most unstoppable fade away I've ever seen. And now, KAT's going around calling himself the greatest shooting big man in the league, lmao.
