Melo, Wade, Iverson, Marbury, Marion, Odom)and 4 rings with the San Antonio Spurs and this cat still isn't worthy of the(H.O.F.)? Manu is in Larry Birds class and I'd say he's even better because he won a gold against a stacked U.S. squad in '04 and even though they were young so was Manu but he always played big when the moment was at its biggest stage!!!

  • Down to earth guy too. I go to Spurs sports doctor. Understandably, players and former players have a separate entrance to avoid being swamped by fans. One day I was in there with my son. He was/is a huge fan. Ginobili was in the next room with his wife. My son was a freshman in high school and playing fairly high level ball in AAU. I tried to convince him to ask for Ginobili's autograph on the way out. He was too embarrassed. Long story short, that day one BIG name former player and another current player also happened to go into office through private players entrance. Again, O don't blame them. At this point the office was buzzing with electricity. Everyone was excited. People were running out to lobby on phones 'so and so is here and so is so and so and Ginobili!' People started showing up outside the doctors office door to catch a glimpse. It was insane. Ginobil and his wife CHOSE to walk through the everyday people door and greet fans, talk to people, sign autographs and let people get pictures. By this time my son missed his opportunity. The line was long. Manu was gracious and humble and stuck around. He didn't have to do that. His wife was very kind to everyone. I loved watching him play. It was basketball as jazz and filled with passion. The guy only knew one speed: all out. He was so very special and could have gone elsewhere and been option 1 and padded stats. He was a consummate team player and sublimated his ego and his body for wins and rings. We won't see his kind again. Thanks, Manu for playing the game right and being a good man.

  • Manu Ginobili is proof that stats don’t tell the tale of the tape, the ability to make the right play at the right time is a lot more important then someone whom is piling up points that doesn’t translate to wins. Stats can be circumstantial, depending on soooo many things! I’d take Manu over a lot of current superstars, he’s someone who’s a team player and will lay out and die on the court. Believe dat!!!

  • Admirable in so many ways, but a few things to note for younger players: a) The precision of his passes. It wasn't just about getting the ball to a teammate. It was about leaving the ball ready for the teammate to shoot. His best passes were all about hitting the ideal spot for the receiving player so that they could easily dribble or shoot without little to no time needed to compose themselves and set their shooting motion. b) No gloating or posing for the cameras. He would pull an incredible defensive or offensive play and immediately turn around and get involved with the next action. Too many young players these days think that the game stops for them after they score or stop one play that they perform for the cameras instead of continue playing until there is a whistle.
