I have a 1997 SWB 2.8. Fantastic little car. 310 000 kms on its clock. Still going strong.
Nice, how long have you had it?
@@GulfCoastDieselz A couple of years now. It's not my daily but my weekend toy for off-roading and teaching kids to drive.
I bought a 1994 Pajero Wagon highroof model, the largest body made. It has the 4m40 engine as well. I bought it last year with only 57,000 kilometers. Wanted one my whole life and finally was able. Yours is very nice too. We also picked up a 1996 Land Cruiser Prado as a family vehicle with the 1kz-te turbo diesel engine. Enjoy it man!
Sounds nice, the Toyota Prado is definitely cool a vehicle as well. How do you like it compared to the Pajero?
@@GulfCoastDieselz it's great really. They have their pros and cons. The pajero is lower geared and has limited slip differential, whereas the Prado does not. The Toyota is definitely more responsive on throttle and you can hear the turbo whistle through the exhaust which is fun to drive and people turn their head at that. They do for the appearance/style of both too. The Toyota has a much softer ride and brakes are softer as well. I like them both but enjoy the Pajero more, partially because I always wanted one. The brakes are sharper, suspension stiffer, condition is more immaculate, the style is more radical, and the engine sounds like an old noisy diesel. I live on a mountain and drive across 2 commuting to work every day. It has never had an issue with any weather condition including ice and snow. The Prado is much softer all around so the comfort is there for that preference and has had issue with snow and ice because of the differential. The Prado engine is more powerful, but that doesn't outweigh my likes for the Pajero. They actually complement eachother as far as multiple vehicles to own. I'm looking at continually acquiring more imports each year and finishing my garage. Building a huge one to fill up and pass on to the kids lol. I bought mine through Duncan Imports.
My dad also has a 2.8 in manual transmission and i love driving it. It's from '99 and has only 95k miles
i have a 2.8 manual too, what is your top speed? mine wont go over 100km/h
Nice Paj. They’re also made for the export RHD markets like the UK, Australia etc which is why decals are in English. I have all the same running gear as this in my Delica Spacegear 2.8, it’s done 282,000km and drives like new
Nice! Thanks for the info. The 2.8 is definitely a durable engine!
Nice man also got a 2.8 engine in my montero sport,it will last forever, mines a 96 with 200k miles
How many miles did it have on it when you bought it? and where did you buy from?
It had about 96,000 miles when I bought it. I bought it from Japanese Classics, based out of Richmond, Virginia.
@@GulfCoastDieselz Thanks for the reply!
