BenQ Zowie EC3-C Quick Review (new cable, 75g but basically an EC2)
Measurements and specs here: www.rocketjumpninja.com/produ...
Update: Turns out you can set the mice to "Fast Response" mode by holding in Mouse4 as you plug it in, only 1ms slower than the G903 in the bump test once that's set.
Good news, Zowie now has a really nice, flexible braided cable! There are also some other improvements, like lowered weight, but overall this isn't that different to the EC2, maybe it should have been named EC2C?
The shape is better than the EC2, but it's such a subtle difference that I don't think this is worth upgrading based on shape. The reasons to upgrade would be the better cable and lower weight.
Hoping to see even lower weight in the future, nicer buttons and scroll and ... a completely new shape? That'd be cool.
Anyway, nice and steady, that's Zowie's philosophy, slow to changes because they still have a fair few pros using their mice and they don't want to shock them with something totally different.

good video I would like to see an analysis of the air aquila mouse from the brand vsg.
Why is that a mode? Why is "slow" the default?
I can do these videos pretty quickly too, so you get a sense of what the old reviews were like but I still don't lose 30 hours making them. Cool? I'm still looking for a compromise, I know some of you haven't been liking the new mics and all that, so how about this? Good middle ground?
For me zowie is the king when it comes to shape but I hope they will produce a wireless one soon. So i will stick to the gpro superlight
You're improving. Good job!
Looks/sounds good to me
This is a great balance. Professional but brief and to the point.
please review Vaxee Outset AX please
YES YES! actually amazing video. its right in between with some shape talk (which I love Btw) but giving me the rundown of the mouse! Short a sweet to thank you!
Odd request (i suppose): There is no suitable list out there for the heaviest gaming mice, for example very few of them list the corsair m65 and many of them confuse mouse weight with mouse+cord weight and some of them don't even report the weight (!). I used the M65 way back, with the weights, for playing Quake and i was pleased with it. My question is, is there any other high quality mouse out there, that weighs around 130g or more ?
RJN, I know for a claw grip user with 19 inch palms, do you think I should go with this EC3 or Razer viper mini (personally inclined)?
Is this good for 17cm x 10 cm hand size ? My grip is relax claw fingers are slightly curl. My previous mouse in order is g203, viper mini , deathadder v2 mini. I’m not worried about the width but i’m worry about the length of the ec3 119mm because it’s longer than my previous mouse g203 is 116mm viper mini is 118mm and deathadder v2 mini is 114mm
Hi @rocket jump ninja. I finally pulled the trigger and got your mouse. It’s perfect for me I love it.. I have 20x11 hands and I believe your philosophy of shape is spot on.. I am looking forward to your mousepad next. I currently use an mm510 xl. Cheers!!
my ideal mouse according to your website is the Razor mamba elite (21.5cm x 11cm), quite heavy 100g but the size looks good. I would prefer opting for the Zowie EC1 C bc it has good length, the width would only be short for my hand but does it have a big impact for me ?
really surprised zowie made these! especially with the newest version of the EC2 not even being a year old... I absolutely love the EC2 but I always wanted better weight, better cable, and better scroll wheel. The shape otherwise is extremely comfortable.
Loving my Vaxee AX so far even though I never got used to the EC2 and had to sell it after about a month. Whatever Vaxee did to the ec2 shape definitely works for me.
i have both vaxee mice they both make my hand cramp, ec3 ftw
@@sjr1792 I bought one of the last ec2-a before they stopped production and the right click was suuuper sensitive, I barely need any pressure to click it down, and its extremely annoying, how is the EC3 and the Vaxee mice clicks? thanks in advance!
it just doesn't. I have the ec2 and ec3 as well as Outset AX. The worst one out of these three shape wise is definetely the Outset AX if you're really competitive.
@@StunRun1337 The EC3 is great. The EC2 is a bit more of a palm oriented and the EC3 is a bit more claw oriented. I have thin/small hands but in size dimensions they're average like 17x10cm.
Was waiting for this video, thank you
I love the more angular design of the side buttons, looks aggressive.
I am waiting for your review for this mouse )
@@tinleo333 Thanks man. I probably won't review it myself until the 1 and 2 are also available, since I am planning to use the EC2-C or EC3-C and want to decide between the two!

where can you buy this in the UK? Thanks!
According to Zowie you can adjust the debounce time with some button combination.
Where did you see this? What do you press to change it?
@@timeisbutawindow someone from zowie told me on reddit. ZOWIE_Support OP · 17d Yes, we have two different level options of clicking response time setting, you can adjust it via key combination (check user manual of how to adjust), and yes you can select faster option than default (also faster option will be also faster than previous gen mice). You may ask what's the ms of those options: since it has deviation between each unit, and also the feeling between different mice, even they claim the same number may different. We would suggest that you try and feel it, and decide which one to take.
I even thought earlier "I better read in the manual in case they've added an option to change the debounce" and then completely forgot. Ok yeah you can change click response time "Disconnect the mouse first, and press and hold the following key while re-connecting the mouse. Fast response time - 4. Normal response time - 5." I'll update this tomorrow after testing it. Not that 4 or 5ms is that big a deal, pretty common, but now I'm interested to know what the other setting is at.
@@RocketJumpNinja Appreciate you redoing the test, as I am interested too. Still waiting for mine to arrive😃
With the EC3-C in low latency mode, the G903 is 1ms faster, so let's say it's 2ms for the EC3-C. I'll leave the updates in the desc and all that. Thanks!
I love it, a short and precise video. No nonsense, no bullsht.
Is there any mouse on the market with a similar shape but with better switches? The click feels mushy, too much play and sounds bad. But I really like the ergonomics of this mouse and would like to stick to a similar design.
are you gonna do videos like the best mice of the year?
@rocket jump ninja I was wondering if you could answer a quick question for me...I used your mouse finder with my hand measurements and one that it recommended was the g703 as a current g pro wireless user it looks like the closest to the g pro as far as the shape so I don't see a problem there...But my Question is with the g pro I find myself feeling fatigue in my pinky finger do you think the g703 would help with that... it feels like i'm having to hold my pinky up a lot during longer gaming sessions but I love the feel of the g pro just getting tired of feeling like I have to adjust my grip to alleviate that feeling of holding my pinky up all the time.... thanks for any help you can give glad I found your channel
G703 is an ergonomic shape so there is a lot of place for your pinky to rest. Gpro wireless is an ambi shape so expect a bit of adaptation time. Also G703 is larger, more aimed toward palm grip player.
@@johnspartan2096 thanks for the response ...my hand is pretty big at 7.5/8" x 4.3/8" so the larger size probably won't be a problem.... plus I have kind of a claw palm grip combo going on so this mouse might be perfect for me... def. worth giving it a shot since I have liked pretty much every logi mouse i've used so far
@@sporttsvetts I used the G703 during one full year before going back to the Wired version (G403) it s a good mouse, like all the logitech wireless it have probabilities to suffer from double click issue though, but for a claw palm combo the shape is perfect.
I know that the mouse is the most important peripheral for an shooter but I think that the keyboard is almost equally important. So, what keyboard do you use?
He use the Logitech G915 wireless keyboard. You can find everything he use on his website in the "what I use" section.
Just picked up a wireless ec2, cant wait to test it out
At least Zowie is finally realizing their mice need a refresh. This is a good first step. If they can ever pull off a wireless,
i bought an EC3-C and my right clicks feel sooooo light and a miss click a lot, anyway to fix this?
Yes, cool. Thanks for the video!
I really like that review
Hi, i come from the Zowie EC2. Is the EC3-C or EC2-C the right choice?
Is the scroll wheel lighter and more sensitive than on the EC2? The terrible scroll wheel on the EC2 was definitely a dealbreaker for me.
Just got this mouse and the game I play requires constant use of the scroll wheel, it's requires so much effort to press in, the other buttons are good(used EC2A for 4 years) the cable is great, very light. But this scroll wheel is a deal breaker for me
Are those pre-travels only happen in the EC series? My S2 Divina Blue doesn't have this problem.
It's post-travel, after the click, it happens on a lot of mice but that's been happening to my copies since the EC2-A from 5 years ago. So yeah just something in their design I guess. Hopefully they look into it, because it does get pretty annoying.
@@RocketJumpNinja ah, post-travels, my mistake. Maybe, maybe you just happen to receive one that is bad? Some other copies might be have good buttons out there. Anyway, thank you, good to know.
I have about 20 Zowie mice, maybe more, it's the same on all. It's the same on a lot of the older mice, but newer mice have found a fix, so I'm just pointing out that it needs to be fixed on Zowie now too.
@@RocketJumpNinja good point. Thanks again.
The post-travel is intentionally there for CSGO players. We really need that to easily control burst and tap fire.
can you do a review about the PWNAGE ultra custom symmetrical? thanks!
Looking for this review long time
It’s only been 21 days since the mouse was first announced by Zowie...
Is this worth upgrading from a g305? If wireless is not a concern.
Hello, my hand size is 17.5x9.5 cm, will this mouse fit me? or ec2-c will be better?
EC2-A buttons are rock solid with not even the slightest hint of rattle/looseness. It seems they have made the material a bit thinner?
@patrick b. Yea, for the other mice the lighter clicks have been a godsend. But EC always had light clicks even with the old setup.
ive seen a few reviews with different weight measurements, how accurate is this? plus theyre site says 70 grams
That's probably without cable. Factories weigh mice with just the mouse and have more accurate scales, plus tolerance. That's why a lot of measurements are different for us.
@@RocketJumpNinja ah thank you for the clarification! Don’t suppose you had a chance to try out the extra ptfe feet they’re doing? Curious to see what they’re like
So the buttons are lighter? The ZA13 gave my index finger RSI cause it was so stiff!
i had the same problem with ec2-a. My index finger was hurting bad after a long session of gaming.
Hey zy what is that rgb bar in the background? it looks so nice.
Sound BlasterX Katana sound bar, pretty good sound too, reviewed it ages ago, liked it so much I bought another.
i remember you said once that if they made ec3-a it could be your new main mouse im really happy that they finally did it im sure gonna check this one out
I said I wanted to try an EC3, meaning smaller version. This is still EC2 size though, should've been named EC2-C.
@@RocketJumpNinja wait really? its not smaller ?
@@iDZEJKOB only a little shorter 120 mm in the ec2 vs 117 in the ec3
@@RocketJumpNinja they are going to eventually release the EC1-C and EC2-C in any case

Hoping they release one for the za-13 with the new cable would be great
Are they going to release light versions of other mices like S2, FK2 etc as well?
Yes can u go check Twitter?
It’s weird that the scroll wheels are different on the EC3-C and EC2-C. I much prefer the outer horizontal ledges on the EC3 to the concave ledges on the EC2-C so I wish they’d just updated their wheel to match the EC3 one.
The greenscreen handcam is genius
Yeah after having a mouse pad cover so much of my highlights, I was trying to get one for ages. Fnatic eventually asked me what custom design I wanted back in 2019 so finally managed to get one. twitter.com/RocketJumpNinja/status/1168489214343663617 Been one of my favourite things about these highlight vids ever since. Some people don't like it, but I think it's awesome. These days I'm using a custom pad from Xtrfy.
Is this basically a heavier gskoll mini? and probly somewhat bigger.
skoll mini was my main until qc went dead. i am after this until skoll mini goes wireless. its 5% bigger than skoll mini. i am so happy its coming.
@@Rodiac Currently I use the G Skoll mini with the grips and i wish it was just wireless... you would think someone from zowie is smart enough to just make wireless mice, up the price of their actual current mice ppl buy, and just make a killing off that... Almost everyone wants a g pro wireless superlight nowadays and here zowie is making more wired mice. Seriously SOMEONE doesnt want to make an ec2-a clone wireless? /End vent rant :D
Hey Rocket Jump Ninja, not sure if you'll see this but I want to tell you something. A while back I watched a video of yours it was "How to grip a gaming mouse for best aim potential" In the video you mentioned stop tapping the mouse when shooting, like raising your finger up and then hitting the mouse. I never noticed that I did that until I watched that video and I just gotta say you mentioning that really helped out my aim. Although I'm still struggling with the muscle memory of it my aim with rifles has gotten a lot better in valorant. Although I still struggle with tapping while opping/awping. I would just like to say thank you for helping me out.
All good, glad it helped!
I literally watched their trailer 10 mins ago!!!
Surprised you didn’t compare this to the outset ax; Really wondering whether I should get this mouse or the ax.
He has a summary on the website on his thoughts on the Outset AX
I've been using the AX for a month and it has been a great time. Fits my hand like a glove, satisfying clicks, flawless sensor.
get outset its better sensor clicks and similar shape
Get the outset.
Outset hands down and that's coming from a guy who loves the ec2a
I have the EC2-A and now bought the EC3-C because most reviews said it's basically the same as the EC2-A, just with less weight. No, it's not, it's a bit smaller. The EC2-A fits perfectly for me, like a glove, while the EC3-C is a little bit too small.
I see most people commenting the other way around, preferring the EC3 size. What's your hand size?
@@digitalfruitcake24 I don't have the exact measurements but I have middle sized hands. I sold the EC3 and took the EC2-C, it fits perfectly. It's the same size as the EC2-A. I do recommend the EC3-C only for smallish hands!
well , i have the same problem , bought ec3 , for palm grip is really small and doesnt feel good , sadly where i live cant sent it back , so i need to buy a new ec2cw , for 180$. :D@@bentorres8307

if you already have a mouse bungee should you get a paracorded cable or is that unnecessary
I'd say unnecessary on cables like these. I'm on the side that says cables can be too flexible (and flick to hit your hand or get in the way of the mouse), so cables like these are good. It could be a little thinner but I'm happy with the flexibility and smoothness.

do people honestly care about scroll sound lmaooo
@@saikosrevenge1366 well yes. I use open back headphones so the sound of that scroll wheel is not amazing. Wouldn't deter me from buying the mouse but it should definitely be improved.
@@saikosrevenge1366 it's wild to me that people ever complain about scroll wheel sound. Or smoothness actually, the Vaxee/ex-Zowie guys are objectively right that defined steps are going to be better for using the scroll wheel as an in game input e.g to jump in CS or to definitively and clearly switch one weapon at a time.
I dont know which one to get...

any comment on zowie removing all ambidextrous options?
I guess to save on weight because most people use mice right handed? That would be the silver lining, at least they're starting to care more about lower weight. Otherwise maybe it's so they can have bigger side buttons, which are being used a lot more in games like Fortnite, so it's a selling point.
@@RocketJumpNinja yea but it's not the silver lining if you are left handed
@@cdet3666 I'm left handed and I use mice with my right hand. But I started at a young age, so it was easy to learn I guess. Now I can use mice with both hands. For chill stuff like turn based stratgey, card games etc., I tend to lean on my desk with my arms crossed only using the left hand. This way, I don't even have to move the mouse to the other side of the keyboard. I don't really need the side buttons in those games, so as long as the shape is symetrical, I'm fine. However, in games like FPS where I also need precise keyboard inputs, I can only play right handed. Not because my left hand aim is too weak, but because I can't use the keyboard properly with only the right hand. Not saying you should switch, but it can be beneficial... and wierd. :D

Wireless requires a battery which increases weight. As far as gaming is concerned wireless will always be a meme because the best wired mouse will always beat the best wireless one.
LOL
They reduced the weight by almost 20%... It can't be the same as a EC2
There are other ways to reduce weight than a size reduction. I'm sure they could reduce it even further if they tried. But yes, it's the same size as the EC2 basically, just not as long.
@@RocketJumpNinja They reduce all their products. EC3 just the first came out.

I don't understand why you believe fingertip grippers would want a larger mouse. The opposite makes more sense. I want the weight as close to my fingers as I hold the mouse, not lagging "behind". I also don't need any kind of rest for my palm so why bother having that whole part of the mouse, let alone make it bigger?
All my reviews have been based on the idea that we need to use smaller mice, therefore I'd never say fingertip grippers would need larger mice. I don't know what made you think otherwise.
@@RocketJumpNinja the infographic where mice length were sorted by grip type. maybe I misread that graphic.
