Man that's insane. 4 months sitting in the cold and dark of that storage unit. Thank you for being a great reptile ambassador and helping this snake out. Hope you can bring it back to tip top shape!
Just happy I was able to help it and very glad that I got it when I did.
Well, SOMEONE was there more recently! There was water in the dish, so somebody filled it recently!
I'm sure they made trips out there every once in a while to feed and give it water.
@@cheryldavis5376they said they had records of when the gate code was used, it had been 4 months. So I doubt that. It looked fairly empty and snakes don't always drink a ton.
This is a very good thing. Too many people in the past have had "the only good snake is a dead one" attitude. I am glad that it is changing. Good luck to the King Snake. Hope he recovers.
It's so good to see people who don't necessarily like snakes still want to rescue them. ❤️🐍
@@SnakesAreUsTVI recently talked to a guy who said he is "deathly afraid" of snakes and he said if he sees one while mowing the lawn he just shuts the mower off and walks away and waits for it to leave. That's so awesome that even though he's scared he leaves them be still 🥰
@@SnakesAreUsTVThank you, so much. Please thank care of it. You can always call Kevin McCurley of New England Reptile Distributors.
Many many many years ago a young snake was curled up in my carport. I didn't know what kind it was and feared there might be many more venomous siblings nearby. I got it in a plastic shoe box and took it to a vet. He assured me it wasn't venomous. Mr. Snek was rehomed to the woods across from my house.
People can't fathom what our world would be like without snakes and spiders...overrun with rodents and bugs and more. They are so important and have zero interest in harming us.
it was really touching to see how much the staff cared about the snake. glad they're safe and warm now
They were all very concerned. I was happy to see that too.
I’m so happy that there are people like you rescuing animals and caring for them.
Thank you very much and thank you for watching!
@@SnakesAreUsTV cant wait to see an update of it
Why would someone leave such a sweetheart I hope he recovers . Thank you for saving him
People are so cruel to animals, I hope that guy gets what’s he deserves, and Thank You for being a loving and caring person to these animals, your an example in which all people should fallow, Happy New Year 🎈
Very kind words Jeremy. Thank you!
I am not a snake person but love and respect all wildlife. Thank you for doing what you do
Thank you for saving that little guy. I can’t imagine someone being okay with leaving a pet like that. It’s hard to judge someone else’s situation. But unless they passed away or something really bad happened nothing justifies these actions.
That's right. We may never know exactly why it was left there. But it shouldn't have been put there to begin with. That would probably be my first question. Not so much why they didn't come back, but instead, why did they decide to store it rather than find it a home.
Thank you for saving the kingsnake, and kudos to those ladies for continuing to call even though they ran into people who wanted to charge them $300 >
Yes, glad they persisted and found us! Thanks for watching.
You are such a great guy to rescue that poor noodle. To have been abandoned for 4+ months and with the weather changing like that. I am so glad they were able to contact you to take this baby and care for it! You are awesome Jason!
That's very nice. Thank you. Just glad I was able to help.
Please keep us updated on how recovery goes for this guy! It's a lucky thing you got there when you did, hopefully he's able to bounce back.
Yes, I think it will do just fine once it acclimates to its new, warm surroundings.
Thats animal cruelty!!!! Poor baby!!! Im so glad they found him and called you in time to save him!! ❤
Glad we got it when we did. It wouldn't have lasted much longer.
I've been terrified of snakes my whole life, but it's KZhead channels like this and Snake Discovery that make me respect them and see them differently and not just danger noodles. But here I am crying over that poor snake. Just thinking about him sitting in that unit by itself for months. Just forgotten. It's just so sad. Thank you for rescuing him.
I am deathly afraid of snakes. When I go to the zoo with my family I walk around the enclosure. Thank you for all that you do.
Deathly afraid of snakes but can appreciate a video about saving one? I applaud you ma'am! ❤️🐍
@@SnakesAreUsTV Thank you. I watch a lot of your videos. You your daughter are special people. God bless you and your family. Have a wonderful New year 🎊🎊🎊
Aww, that's very sweet. Thank you for that!
My mom is afraid of snakes too but I purposely keep going and buying bigger and bigger ones I’ve even brought home a moncled cobra and 19ft reticulated python just to make her get over her fear those didn’t work but when I came across a calabar python and bought it she made me go track down a breeding pair of them for her she found them oddly adorable
@@richgwozdz8580 that's not how you are supposed to do it. You start them off with something like a hognose not a dog gone retic or a cobra o.o. If anything what you did could further instill those fears. Glad in the end she found something she liked, but you never force someone with a phobia it just makes it worse.
Thank you for rescuing this kingsnake! (It's my first time seeing a Florida Kingsnake.) I'm glad the snake is safe now, and it won't automatically be given back to the negligent owner. Thank you for turning the information to the animal control or equivalent; I worry about reptiles being ignored for animal negligence because some people think they're scary or icky.
Thank you! What you're saying is exactly right. So many people don't look at snakes as an animal worthy of care. But, we're trying to change that. Thanks for watching 👀
Something similar is how my husband and I found, a red tail boa constrictor. It was in February in Texas (but it was COOOOLD outside) and someone abandoned her at an apartment complex. She was in a very tiny enclosure with no substrate, absolutely nothing in the enclosure. Turns out she was left like that for months. When we entered the apartment unit, the window was open and it was freezing inside. We took her right away to the vet and the vet was surprised she was still alive. We were told by the people who abandoned her she hadn't ate in 4 months or had access to water! Now she lives in a nice 6x2x2 in our reptile room with plenty of room to explore and have a happy life.
That is just crazy, 4 months with no food and no fresh water. shoot call a friend. Bless you Jason. Happy New Year.
i’m so glad the staff was so open to saving the little guy
oh wow 4 months sat in storage, with no food, no drink and no one to care for him. poor baby. Hope he recovers. lisa 🇬🇧
Those people were so nice and concerned for the snake, and happy as I am it will be safe.
That is so sad that someone could leave him like that. I am so glad you were able to get him.
I know. I just hate that it had to stay there as long as it did.
Poor guy was so cold :( that was the least energetic musking ive ever seen. Im so glad for people like you that share the love for these beautiful creatures.
That is probably one of the reason's it survived as it can tolerate 'moderately' cold weather. Had it been warmer and and no food it probably wouldn't have survived.
Yes, it was sooo cold to the touch. I really felt bad for it.
And that's very true! Heat will usually kill quicker than cold. Unless the cold is below freezing, and that's exactly what was coming for this little guy.
@@SnakesAreUsTV I live in Australia and have a Bredli python (Carpet snake family), they are a warm 'arid' enviroment reptile, so if that poor snake had been a Bredli, it wouldn't have likely survived. Just 1 call to a rescue society, Herp. society could have saved the snake so much suffering, without the owner facing possible cruelty/neglect charges.
I completely agree. This kingsnake is a colubrid, and they typically handle cold much better than any python.would.
I hope you can keep us updated on the snake's recovery.
Thankyou for saving this beautiful snake ❤
How can people be so cruel but doesnt suprise me after some of the ways people abandoned reptiles or treat them
People can sometimes do amazingly selfish things. That's for sure!
The cruelty is never ending. He didn't love this snake. Thank you for the rescue!
Thank you so much for rescuing that snake. God Bless you! I Love snakes. I hope it makes it after all it's been through. I have to have faith that now that it's in your care, it's safe and can live a much better life.
I'm so glad that snake lived to be rescued! Thank you for taking care of him! I just came across your channel and I'm excited to see your content! I'm an animal lover myself and a rescue advocate! Happy New Year...may your adventures be twice as rewarding!
Glad you found us sixteezchild! Thank you for watching!

Sweet sweet babe :( I'm so glad he's safe now
As a snake lover myself, thank you. You are amazing 😊
I'm just doing what any other snake lover would do. Thank you for watching 👀
Thank you for your amazing work!
Thank you for sticking up for these beautiful creatures that literally have no voice.
I've watched more and I'm so ticked off. I have a ball python and he was abused before I got him. I treat him with so much respect. Last night when I let him out he curled up on the couch with me for like 2 hours. He too doesn't eat in winter. I'd love to adopt one of your snakes.😊😊
Thank you for saving those amazing creatures, snakes are incredible. Glad I stumbled on your channel
@pefectionhairdesign, welcome to the channel. Glad you're here.
He’s in good hands now. Jason will take great care of him.
I’m glad I found you back in June 2023. I had to surrender my Kingsnake because I had heart surgery and I brought him to you. His name was Ka. He was about 5 feet long and as a bonus I brought you a 5 gallon bucket of mice. I need to try to come to one of your events and say hi again
So nice to see how people are being of service to the animal kingdom Very refreshing to see. Hope our creator continues to to bless you guys Love from South Africa xxx ❤
@michelletenowitz3831, thank you for being here. I'd love to visit your Country some day.
@@SnakesAreUsTV 👍😊🙏
Would love to see a progress video to see how the snake is doing... Great job by the way
Sickening how someone can do this to an animal. So glad you were there to save this beautiful snake.
People can be cruel. Very happy these ladies called me to help.
Excellent that you are getting the notoriety you deserve!
That is so awesome the impact you've had for the public community as well as the reptile community. I hope this year 2024 is twice as amazing.
What a beautiful little guy!
Yes! I think Florida kings are gorgeous!
Thank u for taking that snake
That poor baby, it makes me want to cry😢
I know. It's such a sweet snake and pretty, too. I'm just glad we got to it when we did.
Poor baby ❤ thank you!
Respect man keep it up
thanks for rescuing it fr snakes deserve a good and loving home
I’m not the biggest fan of snakes but no snake deserves that. Thank you for saving the poor snake and lock the person up responsible.
Happy I could help it. Thanks for watching.
Ty so much for rescuing the snake I have a ball python and a ghost corn snake
So happy I came across your channel, thank you for what you do .
Glad you found us! Thanks for watching!
Putting a living animal into a storage unit is WILD. Thank you for rescuing. That’s all I have to say.
Wild indeed! Thanks for watching.
Thank god you got that snake when you did give us a update sometime people that does things like this to animals make me sick i don't care what happens in your life when you have a pet that is part of the responsibility of owning a animal if life happens and you can no longer take care of it and it happens i have had to rehome a cat once cause life happened i take pride in knowing he is in a good home i got lucky and a friend has given him a furever home has been 8 years now and i still get to see him once in awhile but if you are not that lucky there are plenty of people out there and organizations that will take animals and take care of them and find a new home for them if not just adopt the animal their self
Great work, Jason!
Update on how the snake is doing. I love snakes! ❤😍👍🐍
I plan on that! I think this one was found just in time.
Thank you for rescuing the snake. It is very sad the it went so long without food or care.
Yes, thank you. And thank you for watching.
Hey Jason. Have you heard of, or ever attended Aquashella? It's a HUGE aquarium, fish, reptile, plants show. With hundreds and thousands of snakes, turtles, lizards and fish. It's right up your alley. 😊
I'll look into that. But I've never heard of it. Sounds very cool though.
I'm so glad you got him/her. Such a pretty snake! Looks like a Florida king snake.
Yall do great things you have no idea how much your videos help people learn about these snake's i miss watching your videos hope to see more .
Thanks Crystal! That means a lot! I enjoy making the videos but it's really great to know that some people enjoy them and get something out of it.
@@SnakesAreUsTV absolutely I actually was just watching your video about what if a snake gets in your house I left a comment because my mom had a pretty good size black snake get in her house right at the end of summer and it was never found but he's still in there because she found the white snake poop under her dogs bed in the living room do you have any suggestions on what to do?
It just comes down to literally searching every square inch of the house. If you do not have pets or small children in the home, you can use flour to make a line on the floor across the doorways, hall, etc. This way, if the snake leaves a room or crawls across any of your flour barriers, you'll be able to easier track it down.
You’re awesome, bro.
Thanks! And thanks for watching 👀
I'm glad you were able to save the snake
Me too! Thank you very much for watching!
Yay,so glad ur reporting this monster
The education you provide during these visits is invaluable in creating a more positive public perception of reptiles. Beautiful King snake. Thanks for your extra care in these rescues.
Thank you for saving thats King's life. They are absolutely beautiful and very tame snakes.
Kingsnakes can sometimes be a little nippy as babies, but you're right. They do tame down very well. And they are, of course, beautiful! Thanks for watching!
Anyone that helps another person or animal is a good and kind hearted person❤❤❤
Poor baby 😢 thank you for helping him ❤
As an owner of 7 pythons and 8 sand boas, I don't understand why people can do these types of things, snakes are misunderstood like pitbulls, I love my babies thank you for getting that baby out of the cold❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you for saving him!
You're welcome, of course, and thank you for watching!
I love your videos and l love snakes🥰Happy New Year and thank you so much, Love from South Africa

Very kind thoughtful man for saving and rescuing the neglected snake.😊Well done Jason. Great video thanks for sharing.👍
Snakes aren't my favorite animal but I love animals. Thank you sir.
Absolutely! Thanks for watching 👀
Thank you so much for saving that snake from certain death. I hope he is doing well.😢 he is so pretty, it breaks my heart that someone would abandon him.💔
Considering the time that snake was left you would think it would be aggressive but was so calm
Before jumping on the "animal cruelty" train, I would want to know more about what this individual's situation is. I have to believe that anyone who would go to the trouble to keep a reptile in a large enough and well-appointed enclosure would have taken a different path had one been available. Perhaps this person fell on hard times and had to make some difficult decisions. Life is not always fair. Let the appropriate authorities act in this matter to bring whatever charges are appropriate without any influence from social media. That said, I'm glad the snake was moved to warmer quarters where it can have the chance to thrive and grow, and I wish this fellow had known someone who could have kept the animal for him, as that would have been a much better outcome. Folks who keep reptiles have a responsibility to them, and this specimen is no exception. Good save, Josh! I know you'll do your best to bring this specimen back to good health.
As morbid as it might be, there is the possibility the former owner died at some point in the last few months. I did a stint with a cleaning company that cleared out delinquent apartments, and the sudden death of the renter was a fairly common reason for the rent going overdue and no sign of the occupant. And given that it's usually single guys who own snakes as pets, and single guys are the most common group to suddenly die and no one notices or even remembers they existed, I'd say it's not an unlikely possibility this former owner is dead.
He's not dead. We have his contact info and have also passed it along to law enforcement. Even falling on hard times, that shouldn't prevent someone from asking for help for their animal. With a 2 minute phone call, he could have had this snake rescued months ago. Leaving it locked away with no heat, no food and only dirty water is cruel and inexcusable. However, I also don’t believe in convicting someone in the court of public opinion. That's why his contact info wasn't made public.
@@SnakesAreUsTV Well done. Let the law do its job.
Thanks!
It was cruel because even if the owner fell on hard times and could no longer affiord to care for the snake properly there were still other options. If he could no longer care for the snake to meet even its basic needs, (if you can no longer care for any animal to the point it is or will be suffering as a result) he should have either rehomed the snake responsibly himself or if not possible called a rescue for help to take the snake which is what the staff at the storage facility had to do for the snake instead. Poor snake would have likely died that night if they hadn't acted with the temperatures forecast. Leaving any animal to slowly freeze to death (and it was also underweight) is cruelty and not ok. That said he's been reported so the authorities/law enforcement can deal with him now . Just glad the snake seems to have been able to rebound from this.
This is the first time i have seen a video of a snake that i felt sorry for
And it's such a pretty snake too. Kingsnakes are just amazing! Thanks for watching.
So sad. But see, for every one person who would abandon this snake to freeze to death, there were three willing to help. And probably many more if they had known! Hope this snake recovers well.
Yeah, it's hard to imagine why this person didn't get someone to take this snake. Especially since it was there for such a long time.
poor baby😢best of luck to his recovery ❤
Thank you! My guess is that we got to it in time. I think it will do just fine with a little time.
Man that's awesome to see there are still people that care about animals and reptiles. This made me fallow ur channel Jason
That poor little guy. His owners failed him. Glad that they got a second chance.
Poor baby I'm so glad he was found in time
Me too! Thanks for watching.
Man…thank gosh kingsnakes are so hardy. It’s really not difficult at all to rehome your reptile or find a local pet shop and surrender them . This person is cruel and just didn’t care and needs to be held accountable.
Yeah, a Python or boa may not have handled this situation as well. Tropical snakes don't usually handle cold as well as colubrids.
That poor snake!!! You are his angel for saving him when you did! I hope that the owner who did this will be punished for his heartless actions!
Thank you. Glad I could help it. Thanks for watching.
Jason you are the best! From the Jakes
No! Steve is the best! Tell him I said hey! ~Jason
Sure will! We watch your channel all the time!
Stumbled upon this video and wanted to say thank you from Canada. People abandon reptiles up here and as you can imagine they don’t stand a chance. My snake has a battery power station in case of outages.
Oh I bet they wouldn't last long at all in a winter up there. Thank you very much for watching!
I love watching your videos and learning about the animals keep up the good work
You did good for that snake❤❤
Thank you for saving him
All Life Is Precious Blessings for you compassion ❤
Poor baby is probably dehydrated too... who knows how long its been there... Who in their right mind puts any animal in a storage container?? Thats absolutely horrible 😢 Hopefully poor snake does well in your care.
Yes, I think it's going to be ok. At a minimum, it was in there for over 4 months.
@SnakesAreUsTV wow. They are amazingly resilient. I'd suspect it went into a sort of brumation to last those months. I'm glad that family called. Please post updates. Also, how is that abandoned short tail doing? Still friendlier than your other one I hope 😉
The short tail Python is doing great. My albino one is so not nice still. 🤣
So glad you got to him in time!
Yes! Me too! Thanks for watching!
Man that’s awesome. First video watching and im thankful there’s good people around.
Thank you so much for saving him
But of course, and thank you for watching!

I can tell you have a huge heart. You've got a new subscriber! Shalom from Israel.
Shalom and welcome friend from Israel. Glad you're here!
Thank you Sir. Kingsnakes are my favorite species of Snakes.
You're welcome! And yes, Kingsnakes are incredible.
I really enjoy your vids. I learn something from everyone of them. I thought I knew everything, although my wife pointed out several things I missed. I grew up in Texas. Had acquainted with Cotton Mouth, copper head and rattlers. Your show really makes me want to learn more. Anyway thanks.
I salute you sir! I have rescued so many snakes and will continue to rescue them. I have rescue boas , carpet pythons , ball pythons and many other species of reptiles. I will always speak up for them because people always would rather just say they're better off not around but that couldn't be any farther than the truth our ecosystems NEED them around.
Thanks for what you do!!! I've been rescuing reptiles, mostly CA desert tortoises and snakes since the early '70's as a hobby. This rescue was a nice win, unfortunately it doesn't always work that way.
Neglect I can’t handle. This owner knows better! Sickening!
