  • In india, in my city we have several lakes and streams built by local rulers centuries ago for drinking and irrigation. But as a child all I saw was dried up polluted lakes used as garbage disposals. But from 2013 we saw some NGO's along with people started cleaning up the lakes and beautifying it and the government too stepped up to clean the lakes and rivers. Now even in summers the lakes don't dry up. People do fishing in it and we get some good parks and sceneries.

  • The worst thing is, when the rain does return, it'll flood, not because of it's volume, but the Ground has lost it's absorption. It's now too hard and dry, like fired clay, so water will sit on the surface and barely trickle into the ground to irrigate the soil. Instead it'll sit on top like a flood. This is going to cause so much destruction.

    • I think the whole world is talking about this now to make people realise how real and dangerous climate change is. Europe is known for being a place where temperatures in the summer rarely surpass the 40° mark except in the south but as you can see this year has been so warm with almost no rainfalls not even In the winter or autumn that these big rivers are drying out. I don't think the huge media coverage of this topic has anything to do with Europe more with this issue that the whole world has to face sooner or later.

It is simply changed by human beings into an environment in which exactly these human beings can not survive. There is no higher being like "mother earth" that punishes humans. Your idea is much too comforting as it implies some kind of higher justice and thus hope. No, we become extinct because of our own stupidity - congrats, we receive the Darwin Award. Pure sarcasm. Even worse, we take other species into the abyss with us. We change and destroy and afterwards life will go on without us. End of story.... for humans.

What do you think?

    • If people try and fix the problems of this world WITHOUT God, they will continue to make a mess of it, because there will continue to be jealousy, and envy, bitterness and self preservation, personal interests at the expense of others, hatred and unforgiveness, etc. It is things like these that we destroy ourselves with. The greater problem is the condition of the human heart; the condition of this planet called earth is only a symptom of the real cause, which is mankind's sin ladened heart. Until this is dealt with there will be no lasting solution. One day the world will come together to claim to solve earth's problems. The rulers of earth will accept a man who claims to have supernatural power and wisdom to fix everything; they will believe him. But he will bring the world under his diabolical rule. His rule will last for 7 years. The Book of Revelation speaks about this as do other parts of the Bible. This man will be charming but cruel; he will be like the grandfather of all dictators, but will win world leaders by charm and deception.. Don't obey him. To do so you will save your skin but lose your soul. The only Hope for this world in Jesus Christ, our Creator and Saviour. He cares for us but doesn't force Himself upon us. Each person must choose to follow or reject Him. John 3:16-18. Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father but by Jesus. John 14:6. There is something way better in store for those who put their trust in Jesus; WAY BETTER.

These individuals all have a heart and soul, which is either driven by selflessness, or selflishness; each one is either committed to God their Creator, or themselves as "god". Jesus said, out of the heart proceeds all kinds of evil. And unless the heart of man is cured by the Healer of the human heart and its condition, Jesus Christ, that human heart will continue to work out its bitterness, selfishness, hatred, lies, covetousness - greed, violence, self praise, and self seeking, etc. Jesus came to fix this human condition, but unless a man's pride is broken, his reply will be "Stuff you". • The more tree who die, the less oxygen you will have, and the hotter the temps will be because there will not be leaf coverage to cover over the height of human habitation to reduce temperatures. You must remember that unlike trees, man-made objects, like human-sized objects to buildings absorb solar energy and release it as heat into the air. It is not just the gases from combustion and the heat from hot motors (petroleum and HVAC motors), but ALSO the heat radiating characteristic of man-made objects that raise the temperature of the air. A great example of this are heated-oil radiators we used to have in schools. Remember how cold the room was when the heater was turned on for the first time in the fall? How hot did it get when the desired temperature was reached? Whatever type of heat energy it absorbs, it will radiate it. THAT is what is happening right now. You will probably have to disassemble and destroy a lot of heat radiating technologies such as cars, trucks, metal buildings, and other buildings, AND the blacktop/sidewalk surfaces, and put trees back in those places in order to bring temperatures down. Trees attract rainfall activity, deserts repel it.

    • Hopefully, but unlikely. This crisis is only going to exacerbate. I read an article 2 years ago that the increase in temperatures has also made some lakes uninhabitable for aquatic life in other parts of the world. The article I read focused on the US where a couple bought property in the forest they owned for years and had regularly used the nearby lake for family activities. That lake has since grown a strange algae, that scientists say is because of the increased heat in the area because of climate change. The algae killed all fish in that lake because it is toxic, changed the lake’s colour and isn’t also safe for regular use by people. The truth is that the fossil fuel industry has had at least 75 years (that we know about) to steer humanity on a different course and spare everyone all this suffering and pain, but they preferred profits and now we are out of time. Weather changes are not the only thing to expect from climate change, it will create pandemics also as it offsets ecological order. I remember growing up we used to have lovely mild “Sandstorms” with lots of sun in the August in our area. Those are gone too. Just massive heat.

Many non-energy products use petroleum distillates in their formulations. Humanity as we know it is possible because of the advantages of oil and gas. You want to live in a spartan hut with no heat, electricity or AC and eat bugs? Knock yourself out. The elites have zero intention of cutting back their consumption at any point. They still fly around the world on private jets and scoop up beachfront properties, living in huge mansions and riding in large SUVs. @gcj7771@gcj7771 Жыл бұрын
    • @@gcj7771 You mean desalination? It's ridiculously expensive and most likely economically not feasiable for extremely water intensive/low value industries such as agriculture, dairy and meat production. Assuming water use is 100% covered by desalination to make the math easier: Considering that 1 Kg of beef takes 15,000 liters of water and the lowest estimates for desalinated water being 0,6-1USD per 1,000 liters, you can assume to pay at a minimum ~$10 more for it, just for the cost of the water alone. Producing 1 Kg of wheat costs $6.5 per bushel or ~$0.26/Kg and takes around 1,500 liters, which means a pice increase of $1/Kg or a factor of 5x. For countries that have at least some water and regular rainfall, which is the case in most of Europe, water storage and better use of treated water is a way cheaper option. Currently we're dumping treated water back into the rivers, despite it being of drinking quality.
