Driving a Honda truck explains everything
Explains what?
Honda doesn't make trucks, they make truck shaped cars!
@Phill Huddleston You do realize that Honda isn't a some new company right? They don't make a move without knowing that it was a good move.....the RidgeLine is a good truck and is just as good as any other light duty truck trying to haul some jetskis.....

@Audiwan Kenobi you must be the one driving the Honda truck
You can see from the trailer fender this isn’t the first time he’s tried backing that thing up somewhere 😆

Umm, no, not all of us. I've never been that F'd up at backing a trailer ever.
Boats,dehydration, impatience,alcohol=recipe for my entertainment 😂
First impression when he stepped out of the truck, intoxicated. That made the whole video make sense.
We all know that small trailers aren’t easy. That’s why you practice before you hit the ramp and embarrass yourself. An empty jet sky trailer is even more challenging. Great video.
Small trailers are the easiest 🤡
@@zoobrizz Wrong!
Yeah, no mate, small trailers move around more with small steering adjustments. It's bc of the single axle. And the fact that you normally can't see empty 6ft trailers without a backup camera. Double axle trailers are so much easier to back, you can see it out the rear window and it reacts slower to turns while backing. 🤨🤡
Being a retired trainer ( from 1989 to 2004) for over-the-road truck drivers, this guy sure needs some advice, but then again (speaking from experience) some people just can't be helped, take my word on that!

Honestly, I’ve been a truck driver for about 7 years and generally I can back in a 53’ and get it within an inch of where I’m wanting it to go. Give me an 8-10’ trailer and I can be out there all day lol… by the time you notice its drifting one way or the other its already upside down 3 houses down and on fire somehow lol Edit: just watched the video…. I’m not that bad lol
I appreciate that backing a trailer up is harder than it looks. But I also think that after a few attempts, one should be able to start recognizing what the trailer does after certain moves. And then you keep trying and it will get better each time. But if you lack logic insight, than don't even try and just ask someone to do it.
@@FetidafI drive for an LTL company. It’s true that the longer the trailer, the more forgiving it is. Some days I’ll be out in a 48’ or 53’, then take a second load on a pup (28’), and it takes a couple of cuts to adjust mentally to the difference. But you’re right that at a lot of places you only have a few inches margin for error.

At 15 years 8 months, I launched boats on trailers, with cheap cars, on various boat ramps, in one try. By myself! Some people have way more money than brains. Learning has nothing to do with it. Some brains are just defective in certain ways, and will never learn. Wow. Once I saw a fast boat run over a sand bar, on the wrong side of the channel marker, busted the motor and ran aground. Much fun to see. I never had a boat or car accident, ever. 50 years so far. Coast Guard courses do help, but not with boat ramps. Great video.

The shorter the trailer, the harder it is to back and maneuver. Of course, there are fails with people trying to back longer trailers. I’m a CDL holder and I drive tract-trailer dump trucks. The 53-footers I trained in in school were a bit easier than the shorter dump trailers that I back now. A few years ago, I backed a boat onto the ramp. It wasn’t my boat or pickup truck, but the friend I was riding with wanted me to back it in while he was on the boat so he could go ahead and back the boat off. I was able to do it without too much hassle, though I confess I zigged & zagged a bit. More than a truck driver should lol.

Back in 86 when I bought my first boat the dealer launch the boat the first time at their dock then took me to an empty parking lot to practice backing up the trailer in a straight line. He had me do this until I could do it for 30 ft straight back all the time coaching me on how to do it as well as showing me. He was so good at it he could probably Drive his truck and trailer down the road to the grocery store and back while backing up. The weekend that it was raining I would take my boat and trailer the mall parking lot and practice and practice and practice.
That’s some great advice! Take your boat or camper to a parking lot and practice. Even with all the 360° cameras on my truck, I still use my mirrors and drop the tailgate on steep ramps, my advice is to just use your mirrors, cameras can get dirty, broken, hard to see at night and hard to judge distances, I see lots of people make more mistakes with cameras. Master the mirrors and then use the cameras to assist.

@@whitegoodman7465 You either lower the tailgate so you can see the trailer or use a backup camera. I had to do this when trying to back in a trailer for a tiny 12 foot V-hull boat that was narrower than my truck.
@@whitegoodman7465when you line up for the ramp pull forward until the trailer is parallel with the truck, then lower the gate, look over your shoulder directly at the trailer and turn the wheel asif you were driving the trailer, go slow until you're confident, remember the shorter the trailer the more responsive it is to your inputs on the wheel and be careful not to turn sharp with the gate down some trailers will contact and crunch it up real nice for you. Is a single trailer harder?
@@scottfreedoms9584 Single axle trailers "jack-knife" (swing too far in one direction to continue backing up) much quicker than a tandem (double) axle trailer. Exactly, our family ranch is on a peninsula and it's critical that everyone over 5 years old knows how to drive every vehicle, farm equipment, and water craft. Backing up trailers is mandatory starting from the time they can turn a steering wheel. For us it's a matter of safety. Sometimes we don't have an adult available to help with loading or unloading trailers, so the children must be well trained, well practiced and know what they are doing. And no, we don't turn them loose on the highway alone , until they have a license. I refuse to raise idiots, this young generation coming up is going to need every skill we can possibly teach them.

PWC guy was definitely not playing with a full deck. The left fender was like that the whole time so must have happened previously.

I freaking love the narration 😂
What to keep in mind most of the time is to turn your front wheels opposite way than you want the trailer to turn until or unless your vehicle is more than at a 10 degree angle to the trailer. Also, good mirror alignment/angles. I never look anywhere else but my mirrors, looking at my trailer tires or fenders. A 10 degree angle is when you look in the turn side mirror of your vehicle and you see the front of your boat or the wench. If you are at more than 10 degrees, it 's better to pull out and straighten up than proceed. It will take you at least the full length of your vehicle and trailer to straighten up going backwards.
I haven't backed up a trailer much, but I've had success with steering from the 6 o'clock position and swinging my right arm in the direction you want the trailer to go, which is the opposite way, but works and is easy to maneuver.
