Cutting the frame to fit the big block Ford 😆

2024 ж. 27 Сәу.
73 961 Рет қаралды

We started mocking up the big block 460 Ford engine and soon found out that there's a lot of slicing and dicing needed to make it fit. Nathan is going to start cutting out the frame while Bad Chad gets rid of the driveshaft.
PS...this is ALL because Bad Chad wants it to look exactly like the Hot Wheels toy , which has the engine mounted back in the cowl/firewall 😐

  • Thank you for the daily entertainment. I've watched you on KZhead from day 1. Now my 2 cents worth: As you say, take what you can use, forget the rest. 1. The visitors are a total distraction to you and the viewers. You're not yourself. 2. For the TV viewers; These cars are built to entertain. This car will never be used competitively. These are show cars, only. Don't worry about proper engineering. This is just Chad, doing his thing and enjoying his life. We could all take a lesson.

  • It is nice to watch a show were people are not arguing just to make the show better, because it doesn't. And then you get to listen on how they think things out. Not this is what we have to do and the next scene its all done and the people watching have no clue how they did it. Nice job!!! and keep it up. Because all of the above is what keeps me coming back.

  • At this point I would remove the body from the frame, install the engine and trans & then lower the body down over the frame until you meet interference with the engine/trans. At that point you start cutting to fit. if only the scoop is supposed to stick up you can sit the engine as low as you want and put pipes on top of the carbs and put longer bolts from the carbs to the top of the scoop. If scoop and carbs are supposed to stick out then you can get spacers to place between the blower and the carbs, of course this would require throttle linkage mods where spacer pipes between the scoop and the carbs would only mean longer bolts.

  • You should replace your breaker if its tripping all the time, they do get weaker if their always tripping over time. , also any lights on the same circuit if your not using them turn them off, for instance your not using the paint booth if its on the same circuit shut it off, that will help your breaker to not trip as often. You need to pick up a set of torches for your garage that's what you need nothing beats a good set of torches.

  • Chad and Nate , have a plan to make the huge engine work in the 1940 Blue Hot Wheels Replica .Regardless the drive shaft had to go because it wouldn't handle the torque of the huge power plant. Nate plan is workable . When your fabricating to make everything fit and operate properly .You need to think a bit outside the box. I would guess that when everything is in place . Chad will come up with a center console and shroud to cover up and fit in the shift lever and etc. Similar to what Nate built in the Hudson Terra Plane. Allis very interesting to watch.

  • The issues you have to overcome is the reason most of us use GM . Mainly because of the front sump pan and the oil pump up front . I've played with a 460 in the past and its downfall was the rods . Mine ran really good and then one day the rod stretches and the intake manifold was the only thing usable afterwards . Not hating on it just saying from experience.

  • I have a question for Nathan and Chad, do you think that old frame is strong enough for the power and the torqe that blown moter is putting out? When I watch other car shows, usually when they put a much bigger engine in an older car they either make the frame way stronger by welding in more x supports, and boxing it in, or they put a whole new frame on it, that they know will handle the extra power and torque.

  • I would not want to be in that car when the frame rip apart when the rear end blows up you should read your comments by removing the body from the frame setting the motor in place reinforce the frame change the rear end for a high gear ratio and putting the body in place but you wanted do it your way😢 by rushing your way i see a big smile😊 on the motor what it is going to do to you that motor is design to lift that motor off the ground. Good Luck

  • Need to split that wishbone and get it out of the way or put a parallel spring axle up front like a gasser

  • I would make a new rectangular square tubing frame pull the body off it’s probably easier than trying to patch that up you are changing rear end suspension anyway with a four link also front might be a tad light so add disc brakes and a clip or something that can handle the power safely, just a thought looks great in any case

  • Chad I would try and push that engine towards the frontof the car even if you have to modify the steering. If you have work on the engine will the valve covers come off half the engine is in the cowl/firewall. Sure it will fit where you have it but is it really where you want it?
