On 19 January 2024, Harper's BAZAAR China published this interview with Jackie Chan on their Weibo account. It was recorded in Jackie's new training centre in Beijing, at a location unknown to the public. Recognise the big carpet? That's right, you can also see it in the film "The Karate Kid" (2010). Maybe it will make a comeback in the upcoming Karate Kid sequel with Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio.

  • I love this guy, even after 20 years of become world famous he sill as humble as he was from the beginning and sill never wasteful with his tissues and water, I remember jacky, telling a story about his kids why the kids are so wasteful with electricity, tissue etc, jacky is a premium version of great man ❤

  • God, I can't believe that I watched so many of his movies, Its seems that the years have past so fast. I remember watching Rush Hour until late and my mother said to turn off the TV and go sleep because I had school in the next morning. Off course I didn't turn off...

  • So refreshing to hear Jackie speak in his native language. Hearing him dubbed in english for decades and him having to speak english for western film audiences does not do justice to this master of expression.

    • @@wakakaforever007 Of course not. I just wish people don't put him and Bruce on a pedestal all the time though like they are perfect. I still watch their movies. But I ignore their pretense (or their followers pushing that narrative) that they are saintly Men... Jackie has contributed massively to Asian films and the HK film industry, and has been a defining hero of my childhood. But I feel he (and the likes of Andy Lau to some extent - another man I grew up watching and am still a fan of, but he started giving only mandarin interviews recently in a Cantonese/Vancouver audience -AKA mini Hong Kong ) To me it's like they have sold out their roots. Cantonese is going to be a dying language in a couple of generations if they don't lend their voices to the cultural heritage, rather than say: oh we only speak that official language. I heard last week from a friend that in the Congo, their 'official' language is French. But their own languages, he knows 3 Dialects. All the best to Jackie and Sammo and the Yuen team (Yuen Biao is another amazing stunt actor, I've just been watching his old Wing Chun TVB series recently). I just hope people do see there is something amiss with how they don't make good movies anymore, and only bend to the will of "Shareholder" value. Chow Yun Fat - now THERE's an amazing human, proud of his HK heritage, takes public transport and converses with fans and makes movies HE wants. Ultimately, I am sad to see my childhood heroes age and fade away. But I just want them to do it with dignity and not kowtow to their sponsors all the time. That personal life stuff (Etta Ng and estranged daughter etc. That makes for a colourful life and a good read - I recommend reading his Bio as a fan). To be a fan, is to accept his flaws.

    • Actually it is very easy if you think about it, when you use warm water for shower or brushing teeth, at least few minutes of water is cold, you can collect that in a bucket, and use it for boiling tea or watering plants or something.

    • @@KejutoJetomo you havent seen Jackie Chan early days he was good at wushu, and he literally been trained in chinese opera classes, which is hardcore wushu for artistic performances.

    • @@cyc20976 lol I have seen jet and chan since I was a child and since they were in their teens. Jet Li is mainly focused on wushu, has practiced more on it ever so, was also a legit tournament contender. Jackie Chan grew up in Peking Opera, he learned through many arts but never mastered them. Even Wong who's a HK director would say Jet fad surpasses Jackie Chan with his use of weapons but it's more to a point and useful. Jackie Chans prowess is more of for screen, ever since the likes of buster Keaton and so on he modeled after. They fight so differently but Jet Li is hands down the wushu master, done more wushu than Jackie did in his lifetime

    • ​@@KejutoJetomo You do know that both Jetli and Jackie Chan wushu is for performances purposes. Wushu is not for championship combat, but its a form of art. No one fights wushu style in combat anymore. So with this in mind both Jetli and Jackie Chan are equal when it comes to wushu. However I have to give you that Jetli actually did won wushu art style competitions, but those were also performances not actual combat. The fact that Jacie Chan did not enter wushu competitions, doesn't mean he cannot do it and doesn't mean his mastering of the art is not accurate. During Jackie Chan Opera times, he was required to train wushu to perfection, and Peking Opera training is even more strict and harsh than any other.
