I’m more worried about dust, stone chip and scratches in outback roads. It does the job well at a cost that has gone significantly high in terms of fuel.

  • Great review, thank you. I'm considering this to replace my LR4. You mention at 9.55 the height is 1990mm. Premcare quotes it as 1900mm on their website - same as Nissan. At my local dealer I had a pretty rudimentary crack with a tape measure and it came out at approx 1994mm. It's an issue for me as my garage at home and work is 2000mm on the knocker. With an ARB base rack putting another 60mm or so on top, by your figure I'll be too tall. Just wondering if the 1990 is the official height or did you guys meaure it yourself? thanks.

    @jamestreloar5827@jamestreloar58273 ай бұрын
    • The 1990mm height is supplied by Premcar. @Agent.K.@Agent.K.4 ай бұрын
    • @@Agent.K. I think because they are bringing out the new Y63 this year (overseas anyway) so probably didn’t want to put any money into the Y62, but stupid move in my opinion. They updated them overseas but not for the Aussie market, reckon they lost a lot of sales because of it. If people did their home work they could update them selves with after market units as I mentioned but it’s a stupid move by Nissan. A lot of people want it fitted from the factory with out stuffing around fitting after market stuff. Same as the wood grain. You can wrap yourself or get it done for you or dip it in what ever you basically want, but again people want it from the factory. In saying that while I personally haven’t changed any of it on mine, if you che k out say the 300 series GR sport, the trim in that looks superb compared to the patrol BUT I couldn’t justify spending 50k more over my Ti Patrol. And the fact the gr is only 5 seater by Toyota is crazy, and the patrol kills the 300 for rear leg room in the centre row of seats, not to mention that V8 sound from the patrol 😍😍

      @Stevegrande1@Stevegrande14 ай бұрын
    • It's an interesting point you make that the interior look so, as you said, ancient. A car designed to be taken off-road and therefore likely to track so much dust through it, is it worth upgrading the interior? But then again can certainly be used as a daily rider so should it offer luxury and comfortability too?

      @Drivecomau@Drivecomau4 ай бұрын
    • @@Drivecomau it has all the modern safety gear same as say a 300. It’s certainly comfortable either round town or on a long run. Even if they added wireless car play etc would have been a good upgrade to the head unit. I can’t post pictures on here but if you google etc off road y62 digital dash, you will see the instrument dash cluster available which look insane, they also do a upgraded head unit which personally I don’t like that much. • Love it's capabilities, which is prevalent to the upsized tyres and suspension. Great review. Though the looks...Wow, I couldn't imagine buying something so outdated, plain and basic, with almost no creature comforts and no appeal what so ever for just off road ability. Which is 100% all that's judged here. It would have been more credible if the on road performance, which should have been assessed given the changes in dynamics, furthermore, handling and features should have been a part of that test as nobody drives 100% off road. Being an 8 seater, I'm sure many people buy it for ferrying the family around town...Though 20 litres per 100 kilometres using only Premium unleaded is not a great incentive for purchasing, and just briefly glossed over. And that's totally unladen, add some passengers and any gear or accessories, that figure only rises......although the price of the LC300 is never just "Glossed over" even in this test, it's commented on...yet the Patrol uses double the fuel, absolutely stock.

  • Thanks Sam but this whale is way too big, wide and heavy for bush work but ideal as an alternative to poor quality US built trucks like RAM, GMC etc especially for long on road touring as it has far superior Japanese built credentials - I’d still choose a Landcruiser V6 diesel for economy, bush access and general off-road treks - you’d buy the Y62 if you don’t care about fuel economy and ‘love the V8 noise’ annoying attitude that dismisses the peace and quiet the rest of us want when out there in nature - quite selfish actually as I didn’t give them permission to do this which is now quite prevalent across the nation now with Landcruiser V8 owners installing their 4” exhausts 😖waking us up at 1am in the early hours - and no I’m not some leftie woke crazy but want mature consideration from others in society but obviously I’m expecting too much.
