Two words: Episode six. One of the most devastating television episodes of all time. Or in my limited experience of such shows. Still, it made my heart hurt. Hell, I just started crying thinking about it. Long live Ali.
Sang-woo!
Gganbu was the most hard hitting episode for me from the series too. Everything was there. Sacrifice, forgiveness, betrayal, aggression, grief....
Meh. Milked for emotions too much. I liked the other episodes better. Body count.
Yep. I am not ashamed to admit it. That episode was a gut check.
@@NotaNazgul for us, death of 3 emotionally well developed characters hit harder than the death of 300 "extras" like characters.
The reason why Sang-woo getting to SNU is a big deal bc it is S. Korea's first national university and not just anyone can get in especially with mediocre grades. Graduates of this school usually work in government or really respectable companies. Their business program is also considered very prestigious so that's why people in the show are in awe of Sang-woo's educational background.
Thank you.
Also! They mention that they grew up in a poor part of Seoul, which is all the more impressive that Sang-woo got into SNU

Have you watched JSA (Joint Security Agency)? That is probably the best movie for that
@@LukeWatts85 Oh do you know it?? So great movie.
Edit: Now that I watched I know where the line is in the video. The character's place in the series is a wink & a nod to the National Security Act of South Korea - the act broadly speaking penalizes saying or writing anything neutral or positive of North Korea with penalties reaching from prison to death penalty. About 90 people were sentenced under the NSA in 2011 for reference.
So why do we keep electing communists? It clearly hasn't worked out for North Korea.
THEY REALLY REMEMBERED JUN-HO LAST MINUTE, BUT NOT ALI! 😭

@Gia Gia Well western colleges are top ranked globally lol. Harvard, MIT, Oxford, Cambridge all consistently rank above University of Tokyo or Seoul National University. Pull up any list, the western colleges are going to be in the top 20s, while east asian colleges are in the top 50s.
@Gia Gia How do you rank if a university is best or not? How does any ranking do it? Metrics, and how they measure it, are important in a statistics, man. And how did you define universities, where did you get a list of them, to be used for your ranking? If you don't specify things like these, then everyone can claim an area's university is DA BEST. The claim becomes useless by that point.
Man, the time and effort it must take to get into that university. My head hurts even thinking about it.
I've heard that the university you attend is a pretty big deal in Korea and that the entrance examens can be extremly difficult. And the college this guy attended might be one of the really prestigious ones. Maybe it's like the equiviavent to saying "He made his degree at Harvard”. The subplot with the cop and his brother being the front man turned out to be kind of a disappointing loose end, unless of course they can somehow tie it back in if there’s a season 2.
Well, The Frontman knows the terrain. He shot him in the shoulder to knock him off the cliff. He has a small chance of survival if he hits the water. I got the sense that the Frontman is essentially Gi-Hun. That's one reason he tried to warn him away from digging deeper. The brother was a winner. He went home, and couldn't stand it, started digging, and some how for some reason ended up running the games. He seems to have loyalty to the old man, but now that the old man is dead, perhaps that is where the loyalty ends. I imagine those texts / videos from the cop will also eventually go through.
What if you look at it from the perspective of it was a vessel to show us a behind-the-scenes at the whole operation
