You can complain all you want about how short godzilla was in this movie, but all those 8 minutes that godzilla was in was pure, fucking, gold.
yeah... now you have 125 minutes of boring ass garbage to filter through till to get it. not an even trade

I agree man. It's not just 8 min Godzilla is in the movie. It's more around 25 min this KZheadr had to cut out some parts for copyright reasons

5.56 mm doesn't kill a player in pubg after 10 shots....he is trying it at the godzilla! 🤣
This Godzilla definitely feels the most grounded out of them all. His movements are weighted and slow, showing that he is in fact this gigantic beast of a creature taking a step upon the earth. I can feel the sheer height and power he exudes every time he takes a step. The way the camera is angled from near the ground through the humans perspectives makes me feel like i’m standing amongst them and watching Godzilla in all his glory. Through the school bus, with the soldiers, through the view of an apartment complex, etc. They do it a lot and it sells the realism really well. He’s always taking up most of the screen and we rarely ever see his full body in a single shot, showing us just how big he is! Great filmmaking!
This is why, this is still my favorite film of the monsterverse (although in terms of just pure fan service, Godzilla King of the Monsters is user there for me) ..I love all the monsterverse films so far but 2014 has this sort of deliberateness in its direction that I can appreciate..but hard to replicate again
In my opinion, Shin Godzilla did a slightly better job with how a giant creature like him would move. Either way it's a movie and a creature like Godzilla is physically impossible to exist in the real world.
@@trshb1n276 I agree, godzilla is a large animal that couldn't and wouldn't exist in our world so him being slow isn't the definitive way for him to move. Shin gojira moved sorta fast when it needed to but was also slow at the same time
Well now he is sprinting with the Monke
@UNSTABLE111 this is why I wish they would of kept the same director for all the godzilla films. This is more realistic with believable characters then it gets all wacky in GVK and with really dumb and annoying characters.
Well I now realize that shrouding godzilla in mist, putting ominous music, and maintaining the dark ambiance really makes it feel like Godzilla is a true colossal titan that tramples all beneath it as it hunts. In the more recent movies, he just kinda feels like an action figure that I use to pretend was fighting in a block city.
true, it do be scary at some point for me, like we can feel the intensity when the fight took during the night, everything was just dark

2:56 has to probably be one of my favorite Godzilla scenes. It takes almost a horror route showing only glimpses of him with the flashes of light and the piano stabs. The way the tail looms over and makes you realize that from a human perspective, you are nothing to this kaiju. The framing is incredible and would make such a good poster. I don’t think we’re going to see a style like this in the monsterverse movies for the forseeable future so I’m going to enjoy this one here, unless that Godzilla analog horror stuff gets close to this.
Well said. Agree 100%. Really unique and probably the single best-looking shot of the movie.
Well said. Agree 100%. Really unique and probably the single best-looking shot of the movie.
Honestly godzilla 2014 was the better out of all the legendary movies just because it truly shows the sheer scale size of the monsters unlike 2019 and 2021 it shows how massive and heavy they were especially godzilla with the way he walked and the way the mutos walked and moved. And when they showed it from a humans perspective when he appears from the fog with a swish of his tail and began walking towards the FM muto ready to fight. This specific legendary movie will always hold a special place in my heart for the way they made it
When the movie is about you but you only got 8 minutes of screentime
To be fair, everytime he is on screen, it's really epic. You can see that the director really tried to sublim him. But we really don't see enought of godzilla in this movie. If at least the story with the humans was interesting it could have been acceptable, but the characters are soooooooo boring.
Not exactly 8 min's. There is more like 20mins of screen time.
Well in the new Godzilla movie there's basically hours of Godzilla on screen

5 mins of jaws in a 1 hour 30 minute film
Bruh despite the little screen time he gets, you know it was done right when even the movie poster alone made your stomach turn. I was 11 when this came out and just seeing the movie posters made me uneasy. Watching it at home, I remember watching Godzilla’s grand entrance and actually being terrified at the size of him. Dude, imagine seeing him in real life. That’s scary AF. Wonderfully done.
I really enjoyed this film. I saw it twice in the theater, bought the video, and even bought the soundtrack. I thought the soundtrack was great, especially the theme for the opening, and loved as to how it paid homage to the original 1954 film score by Akira Ifukube. Some people I know did not like the film, in part because of too little Godzilla on screen time. I too would have enjoyed more on screen Godzilla, but I loved the MUTO's as well, as they reminded me of Rodan (at least the one that flew). The first time you see Godzilla in full as the camera slowly pans up when he's at the airfield in Hawaii, and you see his head and hear is roar, I got chills, and a huge smile came across my face. I felt like a kid watching all the great horror movies on TV, Chiller Theater, etc. That scene alone was worth the price of admission. Godzilla is the greatest monster of all time!
i love the way he turns up, protects humans and then leaves. what a badass
Yeah he sees Muto and he's just like "What the fuck is this thing? Ugh, dumb humans, gotta do all the work" After he defeats him he's like "Sniff sniff?! Are you gonna make another fucking monster?! Nah, screw yall I'm out. Peace"
+Lee Henry I don't think he fought them to protect the humans... It was more for territory, like every animal does.
+Mr. Popo if you read wiki or anything in behind the scene the writer said (that the soldiers where ment to find Godzilla as it nuked ... they tried to find Godzilla until they attracted him to go to the city that's why they evacuated all the people before Godzilla cames... so its pretty heroic act.. as Godzilla.. Godzilla is a hero thou he defeated almost every monster attacking every city lol.. so its pretty awesome.. wish Godzilla will help batman defeat superman LOL!
yea
+eventsby superman would fly inside of godzilla and rip his insides apart
I know he's more of an anti-hero, but the amount of patience godzilla has for the humans attacking him whitout even fighting back or defending himself certainly is a heroic trait.
I guess he'd attack back if he actually felt something from those bullets

The way he shows up and it’s dead silence as the humans await this Titan’s decision on whether he kills everybody or keeps moving is done incredibly well. Although Godzilla had a relatively low screen time in this film, I definitely much prefer the overall tone and sense of scale from this film over any other in the monster-verse since. Any scene with Godzilla or the other monsters felt mysterious, terrifying, and with a sense of awesome scale that made you as a human feel helpless in the moment. I feel like the last couple movies there’s just too much “ooh look 2 monsters fighting let’s check it out” and it just doesn’t feel real or terrifyingly large as it definitely would be in the real world. The characters in this were not engaging enough to warrant the audience's attention. But the action pieces were awesome enough that it harshly contrasts with the lack of emotional investment, making people crave more monster action.
Because this movie is over 2 hours and 30 minutes long.
Godzilla: Atomic Beam, Durability, Strength Kong: Agile, Fast, Brute Force, Resourceful. Godzilla would win, but Kong can do good damage.
That godzilla roar has got to be the scariest giant monster sound ever.
People complained about not seeing the monster in a monster movie. If you do, that's not a monster movie... Godzilla 2014 earned every time it showed you Godzilla and every time was a treat showing him in a creative way feeling his presence. All that butthurt got us to WWE Monster Smackdown from a great path we were headed. But now people like Godzilla minus One... I'm done
2:10 - Godzilla blocks the missiles from hitting the bridge. Godzilla wasn't in the way of the missiles, but deliberately moved to block it so the people on the bridge wouldn't get hurt. Godzilla's a real bro...unlike his bastardised version, Zilla, he's a real douche.
mega sean Zilla only wanted to have babies
mega sean Zilla straight up dry humped a building.
LUL the missile are just teleguided and they were following Godzilla's movement, why would he care about humans ? He literally destroyed the bridge few seconds after with civilians on it
Zilla is a girl tho
mega sean For now...
This movie feels realistic in the same way Jurassic Park does. When the circumstances feels real, so does the creatures!
Agreed
@@t.c.g.thecentregod2809it also felt like Jaws and Alien
sad.. as the time passes, the monsterverse is slowly becoming a full-on fairy tale like in Godzilla 2024.
Yeah and now look at Godzilla x Kong
NOW IN THE NEW ONE THEY GOT HIM RUNNING LIKE HE OWES SOMEBODY MONEY
this is the only movie of the monsterverse that really understands the scale of these creatures and i still love it for that (and other reasons)
Best Godzilla movie out there
Smaug: "I am fire..... I am dea-"*Splat*Godzilla: "dang mosquitos."
Lmao.
Ando LOL!!!
LOLOL Smaug got rekt by an arrow. Godzilla shrugs off artillery shells.
Shrugs off? They barely phase him.
Godzilla: "Hey, that's not a mosquito. What's this tiny one-headed Ghidorah doing here?"
1:06 Military: "C-can we come along? Um, s-sir?" Godzilla: "Yeah, whatevs."
Jason Garfield Bardy haha
Xd
Me and the boys ready to go to McDonald's
Me dad and the boys getting pizza
i do not have a dad
the camera angle and human pov in this movie is amazing....
I love that at 6:24 you can hear the notes of the godzilla theme when he's charging up his breath
Bruh why they gotta make the movies this dark it’s hard af to see the fights. Ik it has something to do with cost and effort for animating, but like cmon
CGI is very expensive
Lol i thought that when i started watching this
Godzilla vs kong should be taking place during the afternoon so no more night lol
@@Velotooslow then it wouldn’t be scary. Your supposed to feel like your there.
If it was day time, it would be harder for realism
0:16 I got to say, they did really good with the sound design
Is that vibration sound when he moves because of the size
That's also the way I felt about Godzilla's atomic breath.
It's a really good indication if something massive is coming. Like for example Big Spaceships or something.
@@charge7267 can it happen in real life
@@lolstuffenjoy9880 of course you can hear sounds like that in real life but not as you'd expect it from the movies. Like an airplane coming through your place. Although this particular sound effect /design of Godzilla. IDK if an animal or something this big can produce sounds like that. It's commonly used in science fiction films nowadays.
Watching this just makes me nostalgic for when the Monster Verse treated Kong and Godzilla like they were giant beasts whos movement was so grand and weighty it would cause the ground to shake or shift the ocean level and cause a flood. The cinematography is shot very much from a perspective as if a human was watching the events unfold, which makes us feel more attached. Having seen so much footage of GxK its just like if someone was playing with action figures in a giant CGI shit show. Minus One also understood the necessity of grounding Godzilla, and the fact the human scenes were actually very emotional and well acted, makes it peak Godzilla. Kind of a old man yelling at cloud type comment but Godzilla can be so much more then big lizard fight big monster, and it feels like almost every time American filmmakers get their hands on the Lizard, they just fail to understand him. Gareth Edwards understood him in this movie despite the unfortunate lack of Godzilla.
ever heard of showa? for decades godzilla was able to be fun and fight monsters, the Monsterverse exemplifies that, especially in the recent few
@@MoojinBoi I have seen every single Godzilla movie and the thing that is lost from those to the new MonsterVerse movies is those have old movie charm of really goofy costumes but also really fun practical effects. Not just 100% CGI scenes that people made in a computer.
WTF YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT??? A godzilla film filled with a boring human plot.
@MeepFromSpongebob and what's the problem with the CGI?
This is my favorite Godzilla movie of all time
Muto: *exists* Godzilla: I'm about to end this man's whole career

I bet there is one kid in that bus saying: *I TOLD YOU ITS REAL!!! HAHAH!*
Mr_kool 123 me
Nope, those kids are scarred for life. You don't come back from that kind of shit. That kid screaming is probably the one having the most coherent brain functions of everyone in that bus. Bitch I would faint and never wake up or if I did I'd never be able to form a coherent thought anymore
Fuck I'd be scared and happy at the same time Now at least I know what it's like to feel the screaming pain from the ppl of Japan seeing godzilla
Dont be that kid guys
2:32 godzilla entry 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I just seen this on dvd. Brilliant.
