I actually liked how it showed Godzilla through the humans perspective most of the time. Really added to the scale and showcased how massive he is. That being said theres always room for more godzilla scenes
Yeah maybe a few more buildings destroyed by him smashing a muto into it but still a good movie
there's only two things that let down this movie, not enough of Godzilla and Aaron taylor johnson.

As much as I love GvK, I missed this kind of cinematography. It shows how massive and heavy these monsters are and it's always on a human's pov which makes more them more realistic-looking.
Yeah It’s the same issue pacific rims sequel had. The monsters lost that ✨Feel✨and they moved too fast. You lost the sense of size and impact.
Bros speaking fax
Godzilla KOTM had the best balance between fast unrealistic movement and keeping the feeling of them being so gigantic. That’s why its still the beat godzilla movie made by legendary imo. That and the amount of monsters present as well. It was so epic.
@ReyReyzzz agreed. They had an entire scene of what it felt like when Rodan flies over a city. Or when KG gets released and they are running away from him and get trapped in the carrier while two kaijus are duking it out above them.
@@user-ol7bt4wp1j The 2014 represented Godzilla and the kaiju as primordial monstrosities beyond human comprehension. The first 'official' contact with humanity thus portray Godzilla as a force of nature incarnate. Utterly destructive but no more malevolent than, say, an earthquake or a hurricane. Hell, even MUTOs were driven by primal instincts not malice. The destruction they caused were equivalent of someone stepping on some insects unintentionally when they were on their way to get some milk and eggs. Godzilla is just happened to be a guy who tries to avoid stomping on insects unless he has to, or bitten by said insects. One thing I like about 2014 Godzilla more than other films in Monsterverse is the theme that rather than good kaiju vs evil kaiju, it's a tale about human arrogance lead us to think we are the master of nature until a wake up call in the form of nature disaster, and this time natural disaster can think, walk, and breath atomic fire.
Bridge scene is a good example of Godzilla just being oblivious of his own size and humans filling the role of disturbing a hornets nest.
My thoughts exactly.
Tbh I thought godzilla was blocking the bridge from the missles from the ships cause civilians were on it still.
Godzilla: don't mind me, just passing thr... Get shot. Godzilla: how dare you, I'm trying to help!
Michael Cho see, I don’t think Godzilla cared too much about the humans in this film but after KOTM w serizawa, it made me think, maybe now Godzilla is realising just how much it needs to help protect us from the others?

@@argdolphins well, how did we stumble upon this vid? Shit I’ve seen 2014 & 2019 and I’ve read some comics so I’d say I’ve seen a fair amount
I feel like this Godzilla is the most realistic, cinematic, and serious toned. From the atmosphere, the reaction of the civilians, the military action, and speed of the titans. So I believe this may be my favorite Godzilla movie out of GVK, and KOTM.
I agree. This film had a great sense of perspective and realistic physics. They feel more like animals rather than titans in this film compared to the other 2
If you're talking out of the monsterverse I have to agree. It's sad that they waste so much time on useless B plot characters but the things they were going for in this movie had great potential. My favorite take is still one similar to Shin Godzilla, because it just left a bigger impression on me than just "Wow he's badass", but it's not part of the monsterverse so irrelevant I guess.
It’s sad really, we’ll never get a Godzilla film like this again, or better, people just want constant monster fights, honestly the monsterverse has already ended at skull island for me
@@t.c.g.thecentregod2809 Honestly I don't think we can expect Godzilla depicted in an horror way from the American Monsterverse, and from Shin Godzilla apparently Toho is intent on making a monsterverse out of it but I doubt we will see Godzilla in this monsterverse again too (since he mutates so rapidly). I'm in the same boat as you, there's a place in my heart for big monster fights but it's difficult to make a whole movie with B characters interesting in that format, especially since they've played it safe (kinda feels like the same rehashed movie every time).
Shin Gojira best
This felt like the most realistic movie in the series. I remember watching this in 2014 and being terrified of how real this movie felt.
Honestly i feel this movie had the best atmosphere/Tone and handled the monsters the best even with Godzillas short screen time, imo a genuine staple for how a Kaiju movie should be for the most part. I feel like in this they truly made Godzilla what he is. The monsters were shown very effectively, through a civilian perspective. and were serious and moved like what you expect them to be, you feel the massiveness and impact of their damage and collisions. Kinda similar to Clover field. They don’t move too fast where it kinda looks weird, or awkward or kinda too Hollywood action movie type of thing. Godzilla is not a hero not a Villain no special, mythical Disney type relationship with humans. Just a ancient territorial brute, that avoided human radars for a long time. That is on a semi lovecraftian level, awakened from his slumber. That now will hunt down competition and prey and ignore the little people, until they become a problem. Kong almost had the exact same qualities, in my opinion that made it good too. I wish that KvG and KOM also did that and had less of a pacific rim, somewhat goofy in some moments power ranger anime like feel to them. KoM did that not as much but KvG definitely did that a little too much imo. Also the humans in this one also were portrayed, a lot more better and interesting than in the sequels. The soldier for example is just a dude who’s parents, inconveniently were at the wrong moment and time. And his father became obsessed with the death of his wife and accidentally, stumbled on some secret government stuff that is on a whole different level. And when he died only his son could in anyway help, the secret gov. organization from knowing what his father found and later on, due to being a soldier volunteered to be part of the special operation. And Serizawa i think was the entire time, in both movies pretty much perfect. He’s just a scientist who’s fascinated with these, literally almost Otherworldly creatures and dedicated his life towards them. It’s not some goofy ah elaborate "humans 🤝 Godzilla", type thing that 20 or 60 years ago might have worked under Toho. I hope the future monster verse movies, kinda return to this.
king kong 2 and godzilla what you like can ever night
Real.
I love how he honestly doesn’t intend on killing anyone else but his size and destruction ends up killing people. He’s only trying to kill the Mutos and he doesn’t really care about their attacks even after the battle. I think he was a bit pissed at the bridge but he just needed to past through it to get mainland
Why not just swim under it tho.
@@chef2042 probably too shallow for him.
The humans pissed him off, they panicked and shot at him, some of those shots hit his gills (which hurts a lot), so yes, that went overboard and Goji decided to go straight through the bridge. He was quite calm, before they hit the gills. He might as well consider an alternate route, but not after that hit.
for him, humans are believers I guess
Yea he looked like he was gonna go around but they kept shooting him so he said fuck it.

@@midwintersnight Well, you see in the sequel that Godzilla lived in a subterranean city with carved statues and homes. So he's likely seen them before. @Stephen Walters They did the same with Rodan. When he roared everyone went silent and stared at him in all his glory. Then he roared again and cue the running and screaming.
He said: shut up it’s my turn to scream
He's the King of the Monsters, what can you expect?
You know despite him only being in screen for literally 10 minutes this is my favorite Godzilla, this is the only one out of the 3 Godzilla movies to animate him right. King of Monsters and Kong vs Godzilla just make him to fast and agile. He is a giant and needs to be treated as such because good physics make a good movie
It’s funny how KOTM fans go “ godzilla is in it for ages” then realises KOTM cuts every five seconds
This movie gave you the answer to where your gst money went to
I just wish they kept the 2014 dorsal plates and the long whip tail for KOTM and GvK
The thing is just to give more pov shots, and make him appear out of the darkness again with minimalistic music and just his epic roar. For fight scenes he should be a tank at first but then goes on all 4s when he gets pissed.
Idk being big doesn’t inherently make you slow, even the toho Godzilla was pretty quick tbh so idk what ya mean. Plus even in those other movies, he never really had some type of “super speed” he was just massive and was able to cross great distances quicker outside of when he’d get a burst of speed and run fast for a few seconds to get to a specific spot where he’d clash. He wasn’t particularly moving fast at all like ever. So idk, seems weird
i remember my absolute terror when i saw the scene at 2:15 in the theatre, going from "that's a big boi" to "wait, that's JUST HIS TAIL????!!!" Man this movie really depicted the scale of the Kaiju as massive as the human eye could catch em

This movie got one thing right; It really gives a true sense of how big, terrifying, yet majestic Godzilla is. Most of the shots involving him are done from human’s eye level, which creates the effect of awe and intensity. The airport scene is still one of the greatest scenes in any movie ever. The build up, the pay off, the music, the silence when he stomps, his roar, the CGI, everything.
What payoff? The battle in Hawaii was reduced to news footage. Biggest mistake of the film. All the movie needed was a solid 5 minute fight scene in the middle and instead left everyone with blue balls
Buildup for a fight seen on a TV in the movie that lasts 5 sec. Epic right? -. -
This movie wasn't bad but it could've been so much better.
Milan Popovic 🤣 Basically!
AzRoar Agreed!
Dont know if its an unpopular opinion, by i kinda like how little screen time gets, during the whole movie we know he's there, we can feel his presence even without him actually showing up, and then all of the 10 minutes are satisfactory paybacks to the set-up, and not only that, this is the only movie in the Legendary MV that could afford to do that since it was the first.
People were upset that we didn't get enough Godzilla in this movie, but as the first in a Trilogy I think it did a great job setting the tone and building up Godzilla's reappearance. It had been 10 years since we saw him and blasting him all over the screen like a Marvel movie just wouldn't have been the right approach.
people are still upset with this fact about the movie. was it the right approach to make the audience upset? was it really?

I actually liked the little Screentime he had, It made his appearances look more important, It just hits harder
This movie may have shafted Godzilla to focus more on the painfully boring humans, but the build-up to that first roar, the sense of scale for the monsters, the savage atomic blast down the monster's throat and the following roar *were* genuinely great.
Godzilla: *stops before hitting the bridge and boats so that he doesn’t kill the humans* Humans: “YOUSONVABESH!! FIRE!!!” Also humans in KVG:”godzilla is killing people and we don’t know why”
go to the kvg trailer and pause at like 0:04 when people are running from the smoke you can see mechagodzilla at the top right of the frame in the smoke
@@kux-6797 ok
Well, to be fair, this one is more benevolent, comparably speaking, to his past incarnations. Plus, if you were trying to make a robot using the skull of my arch enemy, I'd be mad too.
@@foxboy6145 u misunderstood me, i’m not saying “why is he mad” i’m just indicating that after everything the humans did to him in the first two movies, from shooting him and stuff while he was saving them, they got shocked now on why he’s attacking them lol
He should have killed people in this movie! I mean, why let the people bother you from the directive. That way, he would be from "meh" alpha to "good" alpha (in this movie).
"wah wah wah, only 10 minutes on screen!" Quality, not quantity.
Which is why this is still a better Godzilla movie then King of the monsters.
Which is the problem. If you can only produce ten minutes of quality scenes on Godzilla and still put “Godzilla” in the title then you deserve the criticism.
The movie is dark as shit so not that good quality
ONLY 10 MINUTES ON SCREEN
@@frolofolo2349 No you absolute fucking moron. The original movie only had him for 16 minutes of screentime.
I find it hilarious when the army just start shooting in Godzilla, and he’s just like “Damn you all, I’m trying to help you morons.
Godzilla is trying to help the earth, Some puny humans are irrelevant to his purpose
This movie has amazing cinematography, sound design, CGI and a serious tone which fits so well. It could have been so much better with a bit more of Godzilla.

One of the best scenes I’ve ever seen in a movie. Super underrated
At 1:32 Godzilla be like: “Why are all these human toys following me?”
Lol
What makes me like this GodziLla more than the future legendary Godzillas is that he has that feeling of actual scariness. He was territorial and didn’t care about humans really. Literally thought of us as ants and wouldn’t notice us when he broke through the city. He was like an actual animal and that’s what made me love this version.
Honestly I like the dark and almost eerie theme this has whenever Godzilla was on screen. GVK and KOTM were great movies, but I feel like their tones and feelings you got didn't carry the same weight as this movie did.
Godzilla was damn swift in this movie considering that he has to put in a two-week notice in order to turn around

Damn
cannibal151 it doesn't take him that long to turn around..like 6 secs

same, i just didn't enjoy watching at the cinema because of how dark both the theatre, and the movie was, like LITERALLY really dark i couldn't see anything.

Only every time...

In the seconds before Godzilla roars you can slightly hear the cries of a baby, I just noticed that.

Talk to the tail
the angles from this film was what made godzilla look terrifying compared to KOTM and KONG vs Godzilla. He looks massive here, and not like some kid's doodles.
Most of the shots were dark and below godzilla, so yea.
The two new Godzilla is like watching typical monster movie nothing really special it's nearly the same level of Pacific Rim
@@franmadaraki616 Pacific rim rules ao that's an accomplishment
And don't forget that they shot in the dark to make him more mysterious and made everyone confused whether he's an ally or an enemy
The director is Gareth, so ofc he is a badass in making surprise entrances and dark fight scenes like he did with Darth Vader's hall way fight scene in rogue one.
wanna know a fun fact, hearing godzillas roar in my opinion is one of those sounds that gives u goosebumps in the best way possible, its my favorite sound
No movie ever showcased scale as great as this one. Maybe Minus one
That tail whip is the coolest part, just so much raw power and combined with all his might to swing that thing as fast as it did 😍
