For those that don't understand, the games between these two were MUST WATCH football during that era. People were going to get rocked, people were going to get fucked up, and nobody knew who was going to win. Without a doubt, these were the best games of all time.
Well im 62 and before that it was raiders steelers of 70s when cheap shots ran amok check some highlights out from that era....vicious
The most important part Bthorn about this rivalry's era was that those games mattered. We like to sell rivalries today, but few routinely mattered 2, 3 times a year. Who's getting to the playoffs, who's winning homefield advantage. Who's going to the SB. These were two teams that at that time, if you beat them, you were worse for wear.
I’m a Ravens fan and the Steelers always won the most important games. The Ravens won the ones that didn’t matter. So frustrating. There were a lot of very questionable calls (and non-calls) in this game though especially the hold on Webb’s kickoff return TD. But the Ravens deserved to lose this game after blowing that gift of a lead the Steelers gave them, and then giving up a bomb behind the defense on 3rd and 18 with the game on the line smh
Still is must watch football. If you put on Steelers-Ravens you WILL be entertained
The Steelers receiving corp was Ward, Brown, Wallace (huge at this period), Sanders + even Heath Miller?? Insane
Too bad they didn't win anything?
Ryan S they won 12 games, 2 playoff games, and an AFC championship
Keep in mind that they still had santonio Holmes and Ben still didn’t have a connection with ab
yea that offensive was lit bro
Forgot emmanuel sanders
This was the best rivalry in sports for 10 years.. Man I miss these. I remember this game vividly
These teams were so equal at every position it made it a legendary rivalry
Sorry they were not equal
steelers clear buddy and im not a fan of either team@@christ7381
Best rivalry in the NFL, as a Steelers fan I have a lot of respect for the Ravens. It’s always a fight till the end.
As a Ravens fan I have absolute respect for your Steelers. Best rivalry in football
Agree
Maybe Vikings and packers are a close second
I am a Vikings fan
Ravens fan here, gotta play the best to be the best. This era was so damn good.
Man this gave me nostalgia, I miss this Steelers team 😢
Me too brotha
Look at how both QB's got hit many times. Not one roughing the passer call. That was fun to watch! Man do I miss the days when the NFL was actually entertaining to watch.
Yup
Same
Whether you were a Ravens fan, Steelers fan, or you had no dog in the fight. You looked forward to the hitting and physicality of these games. Especially between 2008-2011.
Same
Wonder if it'll still be entertaining when a starting QB gets hurt cause of a late hit and and shitty backup has to play
As a Ravens fan, watching this game again hurts. But damn were the Steelers good back then. I couldn't stand them, but I respected the hell out of them. They were a true powerhouse of a football team. Now they're just a drama show.
Same man. They beat us in so many close heart breaker games it's brutal. But the feeling of beating them is priceless
To add presently the ravens have the making of a young juggernaut
As a Steeler fan, I honestly feel nothing better in this world than the feeling of beating you guys. Nothing comes close. Not sex, nor drugs. But I respect the hell out of ya.
Ravens/Steelers games were must see football back then. There was no harder hitting matchups in the league.
We beat ourselves...but kudos to Pittsburgh
The NFL need to bring back playoff games like this one.
That won't ever happen players are soft asf now
When AB was humble " The Bugatti Boys " Wallace, Sanders, & AB " and we had Hines Ward VS ED Reed & Ray Lewis this was EPIC !!!
You'll never see this kind of rivalry again. The physical play, the grit and pure dislike for each other. Everytime they played it was a dog fight
The Life Analyst that's not true... Especially not in the way sircus means. I believe sircus means humble as in doing wat ur supposed to do & not just having a bitch fit because the ball didn't come your way. Take juju for instance, he's pretty humble.
@The Life Analyst a few are not many though time sometimes changes people for the worst sadly
Rotten Sircus “Humble”? Please shut the f*ck up
Don’t forget about Troy polamau, James Harrison, and t sizzle
I remember watching this when I was 9 years old! Dang the memories.
That AB catch was legendary!
I was 12 when this happen
I was 13 lmao
I was 7
i was 110
My favorite game of all time. The fans getting into it definitely set the tone.
Ryan Clarke was a great fit for the Steelers as very underrated
Im tellin ya
Hard hitter. That Magahee hit, Lord.
@@bthorn5035 The one on Welker was nasty too.
Polamalu was a great playmaker, but he was able to do a lot of magic stuff because Clark was a lock, Polamalu was great but Polamalu with Clark on the back was a lot better
Timmons, Harrison and Woodley health,Troy omg
I remember watching this game when I was 10 and loved everything about this game, back when Pittsburgh still had an amazing defense, the offense was building into something great, the nastiness of both teams, smash mouth football in the cold January nights, football at its finest 👌🏼 and now it’s a shell of what this single game represented
The game played much better back then. I hate to be cynical, but there are too many pentalies nowadays
This was good ole fashion football Ravens and Steelers but as a Ravens fan this game hurts me
i still remember this exact game. One of the best all times. steelers vs ravens and bears vs packers nothing gets better
I love their game's. It's like a real war out there when these two teams play. Better then any other game's ever played.
2010’s was definitely my favorite era in the NFL!
Pass rush on both sides was intense... Pittsburgh came thru with the clutch blitzs at the end tho to seal it
These were really good times. Am a Ravens fan but both teams had so much talent back then. And our matches were usually way better than the Super Bowl. Raising a toast to all the great games we've shared with our Steeler frenemies.
Ah the good ol days.
Ward, Miller, Hood, Polamalu, Harrison. Wow, the memories.
Even mendenhall was so underrated
Ray lewis and ed reed!! Arguably the greatest duo of all time.
Dylan Foliga naw they are
👎
False. It's Mark Sanchez and Brandon Moore's butt.
@@WhistleTeets85 chill
I’ll take farrier and Troy Over them
Miss these years. We need this rivalry back
i was at this game, it was the first football game i ever went to. the moment AB made that sideline helmet catch he became my favorite player
these ravens steelers games are always great
I love the poetic justice of Houshmandzadeh choking and sending the Ravens home. His career took a turn for the worst after he disrespected the terrible towel.
Greg Gumbel's call on this game was absolutely brilliant
I don’t remember too much from this game, but watching this in 2023… holy shit
This is why I love my Steelers. I'd take this team over any matchup you put in front of us. Still gives me chills watching it.
This ended Houshmenzada's (however he spells his name) career. He never bounced back after that drop
Cee eeJ 😂😂 wasn’t he one of the idiots cleaning his cleats with the Terrible Towel earlier in his career? The Terrible Towel curse got him.
@@steelpookie7597 It sure was. He really thought he was the shit when he was a Bengal.
@@steelpookie7597 i really doubt it
I will always remember this game . Dad had to go to work and missed the second half. Go Steelers!!!!
I was at this game with my dad and it will forever be one of my most favorite games we've ever been to! At halftime, the whole place was dead quiet because the Steelers were looking like they were gonna be one and done, but then the fumbles galore, the comeback, and the AB helmet catch had the stadium LITERALLY bouncing. We were in row A of section 511 and we could see that the whole upper deck was bouncing up and down like there was an earthquake. Then when they played Renegade, OMG...the energy from the crowd was unmatched. The defense was feeding off of it. Houshmandzadeh dropping that ball on 4th down was chef's kiss..Terrible towel curse got him! Then after the Steelers won, we were all chanting "J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!" as we were leaving the stadium because we wanted to see the Jets knock the Patriots out of the playoffs, which they did! LOL...Really sucks that this team couldn't seal the deal and beat the Packers in SB XLV. Haven't had a complete team like the 2010 Steelers since
I remember this game. I was so happy...
One of the GREATEST GAMES I EVER SEEN
As a person who isn't a fan of either team, so much fun to watch a close game between 2 great teams with multiple hall of famers on each side.
Daaaammmmnnnnn we still had Mcgahee and MENDENHALL 🤣🤣 *sigh* I miss our rivalries BEING the most important thing in the reg seasons.
That Ray Rice turnover through.......Wow...I forgot AB made that insane catch late in the 4th.
This Steelers team could read each others minds when playing. I have never seen a team in such unison and as 1 organism as the 2005 - 2010 Steelers teams
Steelers - Ravens were such great games. Football was so physical then, and it wasn't that long ago! Man, did our o-line suck then, they got Ben killed so many times.
Back when the steelers still had a great defense
The Steelers still just might have a great defense with the draft picks they got. Sure Ryan Shazier is gone (temporarily at least), but Devin Bush is a great substitute. Also, I know this comment was posted in October of last year when the Steelers defense was not so good due to the absence of Ryan Shazier, but now the Steelers have good draft picks, and could become a great defense again.
@@npmman2630 Key word is "could". I really want it to finally happen though. The offense needs a little help, this isn't an elite offense anymore. It's good, but not quite what it was.
@@fruitbythefoote Yes you are right. "Could" is a key word. It can happen, and I believe with the right instructions, the Steelers can beat the Patriots in their home stadium off the bat in week one. I can agree that the offense is good, however, due to the new draft picks it is hard to tell if the offense really has improved or not. In my opinion with Benny Snell at RB, the Steelers will have a dangerous running game should he get the chance to play a game. If all goes well, there could be a new "Terrific Trio"
@@npmman2630 I actually believe Moncrief will emerge and start producing on offense to help out Juju and the Vanimal. Rogers and Washington will both be in sink/swim positions this season though. I want to see Snell in the preseason before I make my final judgment, he looks like he could be a player whose college tapes look good, but doesn't make the transition into the pros.
Ravens still do 😎
The best rivalry in football and the best channel on KZhead give me Jay-Z & J Cole vibes 🎶.
This was the best football ever and best rivalry still is but man it will never be as good as this the game has changed
Rookie AB, damn, who knew what he would become at the time
Cra Cra
I just hope that his cousin (Marquis "Hollywood" Brown) doesn't do the same. Doesn't appear that he will. But his skillset looks like it's a family thing. 🤞
what good memories :')
Good times watching this game I was a junior in college and I remember when The Ravens were up 21-7 and kept saying all the Steelers needed was one turn over to turn the tide. Ray Rice fumbles, which never happens, and the Steelers recovered. From that point on, I knew the game had turned. Classic game and great finish and wouldn't expect anything less in a Steelers Ravens game.
Best Era of football imo shit gives me chills watching these
The golden age of football
As a Packers fan, this was hands down theeee rivalry for me back in the 2000's through 2010. Steelers v Ravens was throwback football.
HOUSHMANZADA will never forget this day...R.I.P
I wish we still had these elite recievers and the big Ben 10 years ago on the Steelers.
I mean, Big Ben's last full season was better than 10 years ago.
@@RagnarokMic true
I never get tired of watching that
God, I completely forgot what a different beast Playoff Joe was
Better than Lamar in playoffs
One of the best games I’ve ever seen in my lifetime.
Announcing included
Palumalu, harrison, woodley, clark, ward, wallace, big ben, reed, rice, flaco, r.lewis, suggs, M.T., J. H. AND MANY MORE MADE THIS THE BEST TIME TO BE A STEELERS OR RAVENS FAN. I BELIEVE THERE IS ONLY 1 PLAYER LEFT BIG BEN, could be wrong. But i no its the only steelers thats left.
Forgot Marshal Yanda of the Ravens. All Pro guard. Cant think of anyone else.
Forgot Marshal Yanda (Ravens), All Pro Guard. I believe that's it.
Marshal Yanda, All Pro Guard (Ravens). That should be it.
One of if not the best Div game ever!
Bucs fan but I will always watch these Steelers/Ravens games. Rarely disappoint!
This is grown man football right here!!
Crazy how many of the players on these rosters went on to shape the 2010’s
A classic rivalry game :)
The game was “high scoring” but omg the offenses were shut down. The defenses were insane man.
I’m sure everyone misses this Steelers team. It was just so fun to watch. Same with the Ravens
Something happened to Baltimore. They went from being the "Charlie" Browns to being Pittsburgh II in their play. As a lifelong Pittsburgh fan, I love the *Grudge Match* rivalry.
Also This Is One Of My Favorite Game Between These 2 This Is The Game AB Was 💯
I miss both of these teams
as much heat Flacco gets, i swear ive seen a few drops in crucial games for him where he was battlin in the playoffs.. i was always scared he was gonna win these games.. and he did a few times.
Ravens should hire him for playoff games, and let Lamar play only regular season...
As an steelers fan, what tremendous player was Todd heap, very underrated, sad what happened with his daughter
Hines Ward was one hell of a football player, got the crap knocked out him catching the ball over the middle & always got up smiling!
48 on Steelers office was insane love my Steelers but this match up is always a great game
Remember this game, was right when it felt like Baltimore could never get past Pittsburgh or Indy before they got to the Big One. I was really pissed off how they blew that lead and with all of those drops by Houshmandzadeh and Boldin
MrFootballman52 Imagine if they gave Flacco a prime Houz and Boldin. Steelers had a young Sanders, Wallace, and Brown here and still had a slow start against us only winning 1 SB in the past decade. And 0 since AB became their starting WR.
@@Speedyreedy1218 brown was a non-factor until he made that catch, dude. He was really only a special teams player.
imagine that steelers defense with the offense they have now...
They wouldn't be able to pay them all though. The Steelers' O-line back then was the result of prioritizing a strong front 7 backed up by a decent secondary (besides Polamalu) en route to a consistently dominant defense with Woodley, Farrior, Keisel, Ziggy, and Harrison. There's NO WAY we would be able to have that AND the O-line we have now not to mention Brown, Juju, and Bell, especially when you consider how Bell is demanding to be paid right now.
Isaac Foote plus now brown is gone too, so
Not sure how you can say that when the stats at the beginning of the video show that the steelers had the most points and rushing yards with the second most total yards across the league that year? And they went 12-4 so they were in fact very good...
Keith Rich that defense is back but now the offense is gone
Ethan Wolbert those were their defensive stats 🤦🏾♂️
As a Steelers fan I wasn’t even mad if we lost in these games with the ravens. As long as they were this competitive and close in score, I was happy.
Steelers D was really underated. The unit mad 3 Superbowl Appearances. At DB u had Troy, ike At LB u had Farrior, Harrison and Woodley they kept the D intact for those 3 runs from 2005 to 2010
Beautiful
The only player who deserves to blow a game against the Steelers more than Doushmandzadeh is Burfict, and what do you know, he did as well!
Nah the refs rigged that game.
we really had Lamar Woodley and James Harrison on the edges wow just shed some tears
Antonio Brown's caliber Rn WITH Ward... Legendary!!!
I'd say that primetime game between these 2 teams when McNair was QB of the ravens is when A Star Is Born with the game James Harrison had that night
I remember these days I miss these two teams the best defenses in the league
The turnovers were unreal in this game great all around defense.
2008 afc championship was my favorite, ravens got 2 free pass interference calls that gave them first and goal at the 1 and still blew it
As a steeler fan or a ravens fan, we all understand the hate, but we have respect for how fierce both defenses were during the years. Absolutely grit football at its best.
I was at this game! Was lucky enough to be on the sideline that AB made that helmet catch on. I remember going into work the next day with no voice at all. This was this the year of the superbowl run where the Steelers ultimately lost to Green Bay in the SB correct?
Steelers-Ravens is not only the best rivalry in the NFL, it is the best rivalry in sports. Period, worldwide, idc what anyone says
Pittsburgh Steelers was member AFC Central Division 1970 through 1993 era
Okay?
Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Completely irrelevant comment.
Only a Steelers fan who watched every game can appreciate how many times Hines Ward got a huge first down on third and long. Same thing with Heath Miller.
The Young Money Crew! Mike “Fast Money “ Wallace, Emmanuel “ Easy Money” Sanders, and Antonio “ Quick Money” Brown. I think when Burfict almost took AB’s head off in Cincinnati’s implosion is when AB went mental from getting the sh*t knocked out of him that play.
This game was peak Steelers/Ravens. This would be the really last one of a legendary rivalry. Players on both sides would be gone in the next years to come
Ppl should see Ben always had a super offense in his Career, his stats only improved when AB n bell was there...most importantly this Catch should show his talent before he was big n Ben didn’t make AB at all he just a monster
Crazy to think the steelers once had hines ward, Emmanuel sanders, mike wallace, and antonio brown on their roster. Thats a lot of talent for big ben to throw to
Heck of a game!
Suggs absolutely went off this game. Sucks that the Ravens lost but that was one of the most intense games I've experienced.
A Star was born but he took what he had for granted
Best Rivalry In Football I’m A Steelers Fan But Dxmn Sure Respected The Hell Out The Ravens They Always Give Us A Competive Match 💯🐐
Look at the evolution of the NFL man... pure muscle and powerhouse teams with only 50 running yards each, passing the ball almost the entire game, clutch plays and amazing performances. QBs turned from weak linebackers that take hits and keep doing their job into flexible kickers like Patrick Mahomes. Shits crazy man
I am a die hard Ravens fan. But you got to a game during the regular season and your teams not playing watch the best rivalry in foot ball.
I was broke up after this game to point that haven’t went back & watched it (patriots in 12 is all time hurt) we absolutely gave this game away but look at the talent Pittsburgh had..bruh
The Steelers draft receivers better than every other NFL franchise combined. That depth chart is insane.
