Right after the attacks on September 11th, the Steelers kicked off their new stadium against the Bengals. With Jerome Bettis running for 153 yd & Amos/Kordell would combine for another 125 yds!
This was a great one by the rushing game & an absolute joy to watch!

HEINZ FIELD! Jerome Bettis gashes the Bengals for 153 yards & the Steelers’ D hold the bengals to one touchdown! Kordell had some awesome rushing moments this game & was just overall a blast to watch! Don’t forget to subscribe! The season never ends in Yinzburgh! 🖤💛
STEELERS fan4life spoken like a true Steelers fan👍👍🏈
Slash, The Bus & Ward coupled with our OL & our Blitzburg Defense. Great memory. Good editing, Itz.
Thank you, Debbie! 🖤💛
For as long as I live I will never understand how a man as big as Bettis could move like that.
Steelers were 13-3 that season.. They had lost their opener 21-3 at Jacksonville Went on to a 13-2 romp through the season including two losses by just 3 points (13-10 to Baltimore and 26-23 to Cin) A dominating season that people forgot because freaking New England and Brady won the Championship!
I was in my teens during this era and I was waiting all season for the Steelers to embarrass those sissy boys Rams in the super bowl. I couldn’t stand all that passing, and any team that got physical with the Rams, the Rams would crumble.
New stadium, same Cowher Power
Slash was an exciting player. Too bad he was ahead of his time. He would be killing it in today's game. Another good memory Yinz 👍
AOL Keyword: NFL....that took me back..
Beating that Bungle a**! Love it 🖤💛
Kordell was a beast
7:54 one of my all time favorite Steelers #91. Man was a wrecking ball. Watch every Steelers defensive play in this clip and keep an eye on Aaron Smith, and you'll see #91 around the ball 95% of the time. He was THAT DAMN GOOD!
Same dude talk about someone that was never given his flowers guy was an animal he did it the right way to great run defender sucks he always got unlucky with injuries
This was a very emotional day for me and my close friends, we spent a lot of our teen years thru the first four Super Bowls at Three Rivers Stadium and like an old, dear friend we hated seeing it be left to history. But, as we all know, life forges ahead and the past must be left to memories so we began to make new remembrances at the new Heinz Field. I live in Georgia now and miss football season in PA but I am planning to go to training camp this year so Here We Go Yinz!
Awesome! The memories have been great in Heinz! I’m looking forward to training camp too & going to try to get some content there
@@ItzYinzburgh Definitely looking forward to that!
Truths33ker22: If Heinz has the same amount of time 3 rivers had that means that’s Heinz memories are almost over. 30 yrs 3 rivers and 21 at Heinz.
7:56 My favorite player 91 Aaron Smith, in my opinion one of the most underrated DE in football history.
Dominated but left a lot of points on the field. From this clip it appears the Steelers came away with zero points on at least three of their redzone trips. If they finish off their drives they woulda had anywhere from 24-36 points by game's end.
Yeah. All those yds rushing plus the defensive got a turnover and the game was still up for grabs with less than 2 minutes left. I remember thinking, stillers really letting da bungles hang around.
That field was glorious it turned to a mud puddle pretty quickly
Hank Poteat!
Awesome Performance!
lol at Dick Lebeau being the Bengals head coach.
What a first head Coach to go against in Dick Lebeau! U can tell Lebeau's defensive philosophy was in play at 2:35 is the cross dog blitz, a bread and butter staple of the Lebeau defense. Cincy and Lebeau was a terrible fit because Cincy is a 4-3 team, and Lebeau is a 3-4 mastermind.
Good old days
Bettie looks like how most linemen are today
I was at this game. It was my first Steelers game!
I would give any dollar amount for our running game to get back to this form. Damn, we were physical.💪💪💪
The house that Kordell built. ....
Kordell may have been a garbage passing QB but man he could run
He was 15 years too early for his skill set
dan rooney saw kordell at the bus’s hof ceremony. he told kordell that he would be in canton if he switched from qb to wr full time. imagine that. i got chills.
I was at this game. If I remember right this was NOT supposed to be their home opener. The actual one was ppd because of 9/11. This was their scheduled 2nd home game. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Yes, that is correct Joe!
Nope you are correct, we were supposed to open up the new stadium vs the Browns.
@@ItzYinzburgh If I also remember Bush started the Shock and Awe attacks or whatever they were called on that exact Sunday too. Am I right on that too?
@@ItzYinzburgh My memory isn't what it once was. Lol
Yes you are right, I had tickets for the first game, forget who we played and when it was rescheduled
God just brings back nightmares of Kordell so much potential there but you could just see the flaws so slow with the snap and the drop back not fast enough recognizing he was really good when he was decisive hell of an offense though the line the backs all the WR just fun to watch
so.. Kordell Stewart had the first td in heinz field
all that offense and only scored 16 points, now i remember why they lost so many afc title games
I still think Cordell was a really good QB. He was missed coached 😮
Now do last game at Heinz field
Kordell is one of the NFL greatest athletes! He is a better athlete than Lamar Jackson but everyone thinks Lamar is so great! Neither of these 2 are great passers. Keep them under 20 throws a game and both can keep you in the game bc of rushing. Only difference is Lamar can’t play WR Or Kicker and Kordell could! Wish ppl gave the man more credit. He was the original RB playing QB
Still one of only 2 players in NFL history to throw and 80+ yard touchdown, run for an 80+ yard touchdown, and catch an 80+ yard touchdown. Phenomenal athlete!
Should have been 30 to 7
The steelers lost in Cincinnati that year
Kitna was terrible
