Dave's tolarence has gone up just by being in Finland. Cool. 😂
BTW the koskenkorva you tried last time was Koskenkorva viina and the newer one was vodka. There is a difference.
for me tastewise honestly no, there isn't
Glad that you mentioned about that! I was just about to tell the exact same thing!
Try Koskenkorva vodka 60% (only comes in 20cl bottles) - it is much more pleasant taste wise.
Pure Koskenkorva is made out of grain and it is not considered to be Vodka. Whereof traditional Vodka is made out of potatoes. Vodka is not a Nordic or Scandinavian thing. Pure Kosken is viina or brännvin in Swedish. BTW vodka is a Slavic word meaning little water.
@@madsbuhris Maybe you know better, but many sources say that vodka is made of grain or potato, including EU legislation? Vodka made of other materials need to be labeled "produced from......" But as I said, maybe you have more info on this. Also, traditional is a tricky concept. :D
I think because Dave is drinking from the bottle, he doesnt get as much of the smell as Cat does drinking from the small cup and that makes the taste a little less strong. But he also obviously has a strong tolerance.
That's a good theory! I'll have to try again... But not for a while 😵💫
Or he's just becoming an alcoholic (Im kidding)
@@MlKETSU I think you meant to say he is becoming Finnish
@@davecad It could also be corona? If you have had it. Some people lost (partially) their sense of taste and smell because of it
bottle is cold so kossu in it is cold. Glass is warm and it warms up tiny amount of kossu
Dave I'm proud you have become a Finn
Kosu is just Finnish water lmaooo
Imagine if you could travel back in time five years and tell that Dave you will like Salmiakkikossu in the future 😅
Would freak out 🤣
"All Im feeling is the warmth.." 😂 Welcome to finnishood Dave! 🇫🇮
Pour that salmiakkikossu on top of Baileys in a shot glass, fifty-fifty, and you have a drink called “Grandma’s Slipper”. It is absolutely fantastic!
Or half and half salmiakki and toffee liquour + milk. It is called "mutteri" (nut).
Concerned look on Dave's face is hilarious. "What is wrong with me?"
our boy has grown into a full blown finn. i'm getting teary eyed 🥲
Dave is reacting like a 70-year-old boomer that's drank hard liquor a lot for most of his life. My grandpa drinks vodka like that. 😆
5 years from now Dave is doing Onks Viljoo näkyny sketches.
3:45 He is evolving, he is evolving to a true Finn!!
nahh he drank like 4cl and told hes getting drunk
@@vissypullo A sign that his liver is giving out. Dave is skipping the alcoholism and going straight to the Rappio.
the first time around you had koskenkorva viina, aka the "original" slightly lower proof spirit with a hint of added sugar, this time around you tried koskenkorva vodka, which is a pure 40% neutral grain spirit :) Alko salesperson has spoken :D
Salmiakki kossu is the BEST! I brought home 4 bottles when we visited back in September. Tastes like candy 🤤
They didn't bump it up. You bought a different one. There's Koskenkorva Viina (sw. Brännvin) which is 38% and then there's Koskenkorva Vodka which is 40%. Before, Viina was the only one that was being sold, but after EU regulations stating that anything called vodka has to be at least 40% came into effect, the Vodka version was launched (I'm guessing, in order to not confuse international customers).
There is Koskenkorva viina that is 38% and Koskenkorva vodka that is 40%.
Ahh ok! Good to know 👍
Dave! You have become to family guy like all other of us. When you finally have it (that alcohol) it makes you relaxed...No fuzzy.. No Pain... No Pressure... It´s like you have noticed that you have those little hairs have grown in your ears in ten years. If not they will be there soon. Hairs where they not belong.... It´s evolution. More hairs in your ears less noise, more hobbies. P.S. Wrote this in 2.55am when i had some(lot) drinks and whifey and kids where in sleep...Love you both!! keep up good work like "we" do!
Kat is so pretty with that haircut
"I become a father so alcohol is something i use a lot today"
😂😂
I'm over for Christmas (over from Germany) and was surprised and thrilled to find London Pride as Prisma in Turku. OK, expensive, but having not had any proper bitter in ages it was a joy. I remember the bad old days of Alko when it was a stern grey experience with counters and disapproving women begrudgingly selling you bottles of plain Koskenkorva. Now they're like a good offie with cheerful, if not always helpful, staff.
Minttu + Fazer Dumble Drink or Pätkis is such a great mix.. You should really try it sometimes 😊
5:42 the Koskenkorva you tasted 5 years ago was the original Koskenkorva viina 38%. This time it was Koskenkorva vodka, which is the same drink but with either 40% or 60%.
and 38% tastes like handsanitaiser and 40 is drinkable
Dave, are you going to make your lignoberry-infused Maksalaatikko this Christmas?
When I watched the first alcohol tasting video I was still underage. This is much more fun to watch now that I have tasted these myself and have my own opinions to compare to Dave's.
always nice to see immigrants integrate to Finnish customs. drinking viina with straight face :D
Still dying to try the Korvapuustit flavour Minttu. I legged it to the Alko before closing time to find some when I was on holiday but the lady said they only had the toffee popcorn one left. That was really nice though.
Dave just hasn't noticed how Finnish he has become over the years.
I quit drinking alcohol 3months ago! But this video was soo hilarious 😂
Hey Dave, when's your trip to Kouvola? (If you know what I mean😉)
Still 1.1k likes to get on that video before New Year's... Doesn't look like it's happening 😅
@@davecad oh damn, was it not 8k likes... oh well, it has a lot of likes anyway, maybe give us a new challenge next year.. this time we'll make it happen😉
Koskenkorva viina and Koskenkorva Vodka are different products
You should try Kaski jaloviina, it's definitely one of the best.
Valhalla is just great when you take it out of the freezer and then just start downing the bottle.
3:46 the confused face when he had become Finn without knowing it 😀
Self made Salmiakkikossu video next, please! :)
I think the fatherhood + dirty diapers has roughed up Dave so much that he needs to move into whiskeys from vodkas 🤣
Better watch this video now before youtube takes it down
It might be that Dave needed a drink. 😁
Very possible 🤣
You should check out the commercial for Koskenkorva (from KZhead). Greetings from village of Koskenkorva!
Hyvää joulua Lontoosta❤️
You have to go bar,and tilata Gambina . Thats finish standart drink 😊😎💪🏻
You can try to mix Salmiakki with Bailey's.
Cats name always reminds me of Cathcart towers scene for movie Fish called Wanda.
Put the Minttu in hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows 😍
A nice salmari shot is half salmari, half bailey's. We call it grandma's slipper. Yum.
Haha that's the best name for a shot I've ever hear 🤣
It is nice to see some foreigners tasting our delicacies. Soon Dave will become completely Finnish and will get drunk every weekend, one at least beer a day, and think about the lovely darra every morning.
Dave has to make a third video when he can taste again. In addition, you have to include jaloviina, its very traditional finnish alcohol.
Koskenkorva Vodka is not the original "Kossu" which the Finnish alcoholics consume the most 😄
btw dave there are koskenkorva 30%, 38% and 40% and many more
If there ever was any doubt whether Dave is Finnish or not, NO MORE 🤣🤣🤣
i just made my this weeks salmiakkivodka with Suomiviina and Tsaukki taukki salmiakkijauhe :D
So I've been watching dave for five years now
Well played Chad whit that kossu. Well played. :D
If you're going to try and make your own "salmari", why not try the yellow turkinpippuri (which is "licorice" flavoured). Would be a bit more different from that authentic salmiakkikossu, but I think it'd be quite good.
As a candy, those are really good. Not hot tho but i like the taste. There were long period that those candies wasn´t available. I have to grab bag of those next time when i go to market.
Took that koskenkorva like a champ!
One of us! One of us! One of us!
There is also difference if you cool down the Koskenkorva comapred if you drink it room temperature.
Pocket warm Suomi viina or Leijona is the thing 😂. Just like drinking on hot summer heat warm Gambina 😅.
2:17 "I'm not counting, but that is fourth." 😋
It’s just so fun that i am an 14-year old boy from Finland and i can speak Finnish it properly but i also can read, understand and speak English really well and i think that English is not as complicated as Finnish language. But i just think its fun that i and a lot of my aged Finnish children can speak English and Finnish really well and English people just can’t. But i understand because you don’t study Finnish in Great Britain, i heard that you study German there. English language have came a lot more popular in Finland these years that me and my friends use just English memes and we joke in English because i think that English memes like in tiktok are funny. But it’s really nice to see you live in our country trying salmiakki my favourite candy😄 Hope you see northen lights in if you yet haven’t yet seen😁🇫🇮❤️🇬🇧
That small Minttu is great mouthwash bottle.
Vodka shot should be ice cold, was it? Anyway when we get older, taste buds go numb haha. Proper Finn Dave!
Oh, interesting. So it's Finland why I'm a drunk! Finland, making drunks of us all!
"what is wrong with me?????" 15 minutes later... cave dad raving in a snowstorm x)
Please let us know the aftermath of this taste test, if this results in anything noticeable: have the hangovers changed in five years?
classic trio.. only thing missing is jallu?
Now that's the true test!
Congrats, you're officially a Finn
Try warm koskenkorva next. :D
5:21 when you get the mask in Crash Bandicoot
LMAOOO
100% certified finn :)
Salmari on vaarallisen hyvää :D
Nuorena se oli 😅 Tällee vanhempana sitä ei pysty sietää
In Tuonela they offer you a black drink, so that you will forget that you have died... that drink has to be salmari.
11:48, just like Eetu with sour candy 👀😂
This is hilarious how much of a finn you've become😂
kats reaction is hilarious, as a fin people myself, i'm embrassed
"when I was young...err..." :D
On a different note, marriage was brought up, which obviously knew you two are married. What's the reason for you not having a ring though? Was something I noticed 😅 Also, though I am a Finn myself, never had any but the Salmiakki but been a while now as I moved from Finland nearly 9yrs ago.
that salmiakki koskenkorva is my go to every time i drink! with some energy drink mixed in, i can drink the whole bottle easily (the bigger bottle not that small one)
I haven't been able to drink salmari 20 years now. Just smell makes me puke. 😁 Maybe got bit too much of it hen I was teenager, but it was cheap way to get drunk.
@@terot8341 i know what you mean, i have that same issue with jägermeister, can't even smell it anymore 😂
"Viina" is a historical designation because 38% was not considered vodka. Today, there is a small text on the label, "Suomalaisesta ohrasta - vodka". Less than 37.5% is domestic barley and water.
Salmiakki koskenkorva is way too sweet, even though i love salmiakki. Its better when you infuse a bag of turkinpippuri in a bottle of vodka
Btw 2dl version of minttu is 50% :)
Ooo craving
Definitely make some salmari yourself. And use the proper Turkinpippuri, not any knock off brands. It tastes much better than the store bought salmari.
Herbal spirits sound interesting but many contain so much sugar that they're not to my taste...one could always add sugar if so wanted.
Jari Sillanpää invented the Salmiakkikossu before he became famous 👍
Koskenkurwa na zdrowie ✨
You´ve become full grown finn now and your taste has changed to finn too 😄. Also last time that hangover might been one thing that made everything taste awfull. I remember that you made also other alcohol taste video with your mom. Then you got at least Jaloviina aka Jallu. It is horrible and i don´t like it at all and other that would be nice to see if you would taste Gambina (that is something what finnish alcoholics consumes the most). Long time ago there were also Herba that was made from pihlajanmarja (i have no idea what the heck that is in english) and that was cheap and stong liquer.
You forgot one finnish classic, Jaloviina! Pick the one star one.
Finnish alcohol reactions w/o Hjalle/Jallu/Jaloviina??
I bet I'm not a first but Koskenkorva and Koskenkorva Vodka isn't the same think. And that expalins that 2% jump in alcohol vol.
But Valhalla actually is kinda classic, no-one just drinks it anymore for some reason
That's evolution for you 😃
You are like your mom :D "oh i like that to:D "
Haha good memory!
A mug of hot glögi with a shot of kossu. Try it. It's Christmas! Merry Christmas to all of you who see this comment!
Dave have you been training with a Finn (Leo)?
I just drank a big Minttu bottle alone a week or so ago... Had it in the freezer and took shots throughout the day. It is so good. Of course can't have it too often, it is quite sweet. EDIT. I am like Kat, I can't drink kossu at all. I absolutely hate the taste. Vodka, nothing, but Kossu and other Finnish viina is just gross.
Next time a Gambina taste test. 👌
Koskenkorva 38% and 40% are different produckts
salmiakki with k reversed is the only that is closest to the real thing :D
and covid takes taste and smell to new dimentions
Koskenkorva and Koskenkorva VODKA is different product.
Try to mix salmiakkikoskenkorva with MAITO 😁
Replace Valhalla with Gambina and you got a better big four of Finnish alcohol.
