We used to have a St. Bernard/Lab mix who would occasionally howl when he was missing Daddy, like when he couldn't be out in the yard with him while he was mowing. He'd usually be lying down, and he'd tilt his head back with his throat straight up in the air, and he let out the longest, lowest, most mournful howl you've ever heard... it was heartbreaking. And like Kane, he'd stop as soon as he knew I was watching.

My Nova Scotia howls whenever he's really sad, because he's missing someone. He has only done it once. It lasted two hours and it's the most mournful sound I have ever heard. - He was missing a friend he had met that day, a Border Collie One-Year-Old. (He's 11 months, and she's a One-year-old.) I didn't known him to be capable of that display of emotion for another dog... He searched for her while howling, for TWO hours, incredibly long hours straight! ... Nothing that we did or do could stop him from feeling that way. ... He was howling, just like a wolf... And searching for her everywhere; he even went out into the street, after nightfall, searching for her. And when he didn't find her, howls. More howls. He had never had a reaction like that, with any human or with any other dog.

I have a little personal support dog that howls when she’s excited, and then she acts like a puppy, even if she’s about 3 years, and just spazzes up and down the house, swirls around, and does this funny jump thing with her paws, she pounces forward with her paws when she’s happy and running, kind of like a hug? Lol, very energetic. she’s a rescue toy poodle and she’s just so fluffy and cute. Doesn’t Shed much either so that’s also a plus.

I hate the misinterpretation in the comments that wolves only howl when waiting for a response. That is not the case. Sometimes they just do it for fun not caring is any others are around, other times to replace barking. In Kane's case, it's been says by the change maker Kane does it wanting to tell the other dogs in the neighborhood to shut up if they are barking.

I have a greyhound that is retired from racing and greyhounds love to howl together. Mine won't do it alone he barely ever even makes noise but when I start howling he will join in and actually match my pitch and it is actually really beautiful. But he won't do it with my dad or anyone else no matter how hard they try lol

I hate the misinterpretation in the comments that wolves only howl when waiting for a response. That is not the case. Sometimes they just do it for fun not caring is any others are around, other times to replace barking. In Kane's case, it's been says by the change maker Kane does it wanting to tell the other dogs in the neighborhood to shut up if they are barking.

With treats, my dog has learned most of the seven common commands (sit, stay, come, down, heel, off and no). Brandon's love for all animals is baked into every chapter of the book. If you have a puppy or an older dog, i would highly recommend reading every word of this book as it will be a source of pride for you and your dog.

I have a greyhound that is retired from racing and greyhounds love to howl together. Mine won't do it alone he barely ever even makes noise but when I start howling he will join in and actually match my pitch and it is actually really beautiful.
