For those who wish to extend their battery lifespan, go to the preinstalled lenovo vantage software, go to power, and turn on conservation mode. In this mode, the laptop will set the battery to charge at maximum 60% only when plugged in. (frequently fully charging your battery will reduce its lifespan)

This is such an amazing review.
In my country ideapad 3 is cheaper than the nitro 5 and legion 5, so this is definitely the laptop i will be going for😍
Man thanks jarrod I really appreciate this cuz , there are no reviews like yours.
Is it good for Video editing (Adobe premiere pro , da vinci resolve, etc)and 3D/2D animations (Blender,Ae, etc).
Bought the i7-10750H,1650, 512gb ssd, 8gb 2933mhz model early september for about 50k here in the Philippines, screen is dull but i bumped up the saturation. Okay brightness but i wouldn't suggest bringing it to bright places. Performance in games is fine as long as you're willing to turn down settings and older games like battlefield 3 can run max at 120hz. Would recommend it for heavy productivity first and gaming second.
What a neat, thorough number-based test of the new Lenovo gaming machine. Hats off to you, mate!
Leaving the laptop aside, this review is the benchmark I will compare every other review with.
Hi thank you so much for this review
Hi Jarrod, we appreciate the key word here.. "budget", most KZheadrs think everyone is rich!! Even months later, I am unable to find an adequate competitor as both the Nitro 5 and HP Pavilion gaming offer only 60Hz Panels, despite similar price points. For information, the 2nd NVMe Slot can support the full size, but only if the 2.5" HDD is not installed (the standoff is removeable and can be repositioned to accommodate the 2280 size). You are the best laptop reviewer out there, keep doing what you do.

I just bought this laptop as a sidekick to my desktop. I just need it to do some relatively light gaming when I'm not home, and for the price I think it's worth it. Happy to see it's easy to add more storage!

Legion 5 gonna rock the entry level gaming segment. But, sadly it isn't available in india for now 😞
This laptop ain't worth it if Lenovo has the Legion 5 on Sales (as it had recently). They do have them at a discount frequently, but even if they don't, you can get a student-discount of 10%. The Legion 5 is very quiet and the thermals are the best that I have seen with gaming laptops.
What are the competing laptop models that match the ideapad gaming 3's specs and performance? Is the ideapad gaming worth buying even with the other models in mind? Hope you reply dude, you've been the best laptop reviewer I've seen. Cheers.
This review is really helpful. Thank you so much! But what about the thermal performance as compared to the Intel variant? Does this AMD powered laptop runs hotter than the intel one?
Really interested in getting this laptop but a bit bummed about the colour range being so small, does anyone know if there is any possible way to improve that or is it just inbuilt to the machine?

Hey jarrod , Please make a video comparing This and nitro 5 4600H
@ Jarrod'sTech Lovely video mate! Can you do or have you done any video with the best screen quality of newest laptops?
No, but you can see a summary of all my results here: jarrods.tech/list-of-laptop-response-times/
There's a bug in ryzen controller. If you switch between the three Thermal Modes while using the controller, it will override and disable the Ryzen Controller even you have the setting to reapply configuration every "x" seconds . You need to manually re-set your configuration in controller. Same as to legion 5 when using Ryzen Controller
From what I'm getting at is that the nitro 5 has better performance while the ideapad gaming has a better build quality?

I have an ideapad gaming 3, and all I can say is that is great. I use ubuntu on it, and the support, while abysmal on linux 5.10, on linux 5.11, It's great. One minor criticism of this laptop is that some of the holes aren't been cut, from the factory, but after seeing the inside, it's okay. Better have it covered than filling with dust. I also use blender, and render pretty often. It is fast, it takes a minute to render a 500 pathtraced sample on cycles. It's a good cheap laptop, that can do a lot.
I bought this computer for blender too so I hope it’s good for it too

Can you please review the Lenovo Legion 5 AMD 4000 series model?
he said that the video will be out this week
I found this laptop for 800€ (after tax) here in Austria at a local store and was wondering if the laptop was any good. Your review provided me with all information I needed. And therefore I made a reservation. You compared it a lot with the Acer Nitro 5 asking if it's worth paying the premium for the better features but in my country both laptops cost the same so it's a no brainier which one to grab. The only difference to the US Models is that instead of a small SSD and an HDD it ships with a 512GB SSD Only. I will ask the store if a hard drive upgrade will void warranty, because I've been told that ram upgrades will, which is one more reason to grab this laptop, as if Already comes with 16 I wondered if I should wait for Black Friday first and get a laptop there, yet the next laptop with the exact same specs costs over 150€ more. So a sale won't be making much of a difference. several online stores actually started with the sales already, one even specifically for lenovos. But none of them get close to the price of this one, despite the reduced prices. As I'm writing this comment I'm on my way to the store to grab this thing. I hope everything goes well and I will make an update based on if I bought it or not and how it feels like if I did Nonetheless, over the course of the last week your videos have been an amazing help and I owe you my greatest thanks!
JerKKeR how's it going?
How was your experience up untill now?
@@klaintitsota597 Sorry that the update didn't come, I always told myself I need to learn more about this machine My feelings are pretty mixed and I don't think I can recommend this Laptop Here are some things I've noticed • The lack of Color Space really shows in some applications but in Games so far I had no issues with it • Quiet mode used to really be quiet, as if the laptop was passively cooled. But after a few BIOS updates this is no longer the Case as sometimes the fans start ramping up anyways • Performance mode can only be used when the laptop is plugged in. So playing demanding titles on battery is an issue • The laptop has a feature that detects when a game starts and goes up to performance mode and when the game is closed it goes back to quiet mode • The CPU runs hot, REALLY HOT, some titles like Far Cry 5, or even old titles like the first assassin's creed from 2008 cause the CPU to run up to 95°C according to some software. In far cry 5 even 100°C The 1650Ti seems to be unaffected by this issue tho, that one always runs cool at like up to 75°C Max which is okay for a graphics card under load This CPU heating seems to be more AMDs issue, rather than Lenovo's. But even with these hot temperatures, the games still run without any kind of frame drops. So maybe AMD designed them in a way that makes it work under such heat. Nevertheless it's annoying because after a while the keyboard becomes really hot to the touch • Battery Life ain't the best, speakers aren't either • Depending on your location, you might get different storage capacities. Mine came with a 512GB NVMe, which is fast but really low capacity. • The Webcam is atrocious Overall there are a lot of minor issues with this machine but the competition probably isn't any better. I bought this laptop because it was mich cheaper than anything else with the same specs. Do I regret my purchase? No I don't. Would I recommend this Laptop to anyone else? No I wouldn't, especially because times have changed and the hardware market is a complete chaos. My advice is to just wait and wait for the next generation of budget gaming laptops, as the current ones are all overpriced now
