To add to your point about him telling the story about watching the first UFC and his dad telling him he will be the heavyweight champion of the world. Weight classes did not exist in the UFC until 1997. It was all open weight. The first UFC did not have any weight classes.
The cruel irony is that I would have never watched this thing but now I'm curious to see how it all comes together.
It's hard to explain how bad this special is because it isn't bad in any exceptional way other than the asian jokes. It's just really unfunny. It''s 15 minutes stretched into an hour by not tightening up any of the jokes. It feels really unprofessional and that is coming from me.

Now Bisping is a legit funny guy, and he won a UFC championship too. He's everything that Brendan wishes he was, and more, it must be horrifying for Brendan. Bisping also has a very funny elaborate running joke about a secret second family he has in Asia, who he threatens into silence with a rubber shoe. So he can even do Asian jokes better. As for Luis though, well he says he's a pro comedian, but he comes off more like the straight man in that podcast tbh.

Joe is bad in the sense of that he has his audience and plays to them. Never adapts. But he can structure a joke and punchline properly still. Brendan’s is tough and cringy to watch. I couldn’t tell when he starts a new joke and finishes the old one.

What’s crazy is Joe headlines theatres with sold out shows and at the comedy store he has his own like “Joe Rogan and friends” type of show. I respect the hell out of Joe but his stand up isn’t funny at all. Maybe he’s better live? Then again who am I to judge while he’s making millions
Kenny Tran 1. Most comedians are better live, especially in clubs where they can be dirtier. 2. Comedy is subjective. I’ve seen people cry laughing from basic puns or knock knock jokes. Joe has a built in audience who finds him funny, and it’s not like his shows are surprises. He talks about them all the time.
We’ve all met that guy where we felt it was easier/safer/more practical to channel a laugh than risk getting punched in the face.
That laughing that i hear in the video where he does "stand up",is that edited or real? I´m genuinely curious about that. I can´t really imagine that people actually laugh to that garbage.

Also he saved the comedy store by standing up to Carlos Mecia when he was stealing jokes in the 90s. Joe got banned for that and is seen as wholly responsible for sorting everything out and creating a much better comedy community
Joe is a great comic, not the greatest. He's just the best one out of his group of friends like Jim Norton and that Anthony cumia guy. I'd say he's better than Joey diaz too. He's just not on the level of like Dave Chappelle or Louis CK which of course they're some of the best comedians since George Carlin passed.

A perfect example of how knowing the right people can get you anywhere. Thousands of comedians would kill each other for their own special. Shaub decides he wants to do stand-up one day and the next gets handed a auditorium, a cameraman and a packed house to try open-mic level jokes that he never really practiced.
One credit I'll give him is that he doesn't seem to fully choke, although I'm apparently too dumb to give credit, as I have enjoyed "comedy" by Bert Kreischer, Joe Rogan, and Jim Norton, so I don't know
