  • What really annoys me about Stroll is that he actually has potential. We’ve seen several times over the years that on good weekends he can do a very good job. He just seems to lack that consistency. Honestly I think it’s because he has no motivation to try his absolute hardest since he doesn’t have the pressure of losing his seat or trying to get a better one. He’s just where he is and has nothing to fight for.

    @duartolas@duartolas2 ай бұрын
    • 100%. He’s famously lazy, which makes his position in the team that much more of a crime. I think Lawrence should do some shell company games and pretend he sold the team so Lance believes keeping the seat will solely be in his hands. He’d probably try much harder and drive much better. That or completely collapse under the pressure.

      @The_ZeroLine@The_ZeroLine2 ай бұрын
    • @@The_ZeroLine Honestly doesn't need to even go through all of that. Lawrence just needs to tell Lance that his seat is on his hands, and that he will no longer have a decision in whether he keeps his seat or not. The shareholders have started to complain to Lawrence about Lance's performance, and that could and SHOULD be the perfect excuse to either get rid of Lance or force him to actually try. If Lance got back to the form he had in the first half of 2020, he would easily keep his seat imo.

  • It's been said before and I'll say it again. The best solution for Lance would be to move him to Aston Martin's hypercar project for 2025. We've seen that drivers who were a bit underwhelming in F1 can have great success there (i.e. Hartley, Giovinazzi). It would also be a great opportunity with WEC's current growth and shouldn't just be considered the place where failed F1 drivers go

    @DavH095@DavH0952 ай бұрын
  • I think Aston is in a weird spot. Fernando Alonso Wants a title, and with how big of a leap Aston made, they should challenge them. But I think Alonso knows that if anyone wants to challenge Max, they have to wait until 2026. At that point, the gird will be super different. And with an open seat at both Red Bull and Mercedes, why would he stick with Aston after they basically sabotaged his latter mid of the season? Stroll has flashes in the pan, but he's the most inconsistent driver on the grid. With Racing Bulls getting a big upgrade and them going for the stars, I think Aston knows that they have to have another solid driver. And Stroll isn't that. With the big shake-up, we'll see heading into 2025 what they will do. There's so many good drivers. Albon, Tsunoda, Riccardo, Hulkenburg, and Sainz, all of them would fit well with Alonso. And if Alonso leaves, They can hire another driver to be their #2

I also think that his injury just before the season start last year killed his season. AM was at their peak in spring, and Lance drop such much good points there. It was way much harder to score good points after that period, where Lance driving was better. F1 season are very demanding. • The F1 team and famous brand need a car design make-over that only the greats of race car design can give to a machine capable of competing with Mercedes, RedBull, Ferrari, McLaren etc. As for drivers, they have (one of the only 3 world champions on The Grid), Fernando Alonso, if they can keep him.

    @beastfrombradford6685@beastfrombradford66852 ай бұрын
  • Alonso would be an upgrade for Mercedes. Lewis needs the fastest car to have a chance to win the WDC. Fernando has shown he can fight for the championship in the 3rd (2010) or 4th (2012) fastest car. For those of us who have been long time Formula 1 followers, Alonso’s 2012 season is the greatest season peformance I’ve ever seen in F1.

  • At the end of the day Stroll does have an FIA super license. You can buy a team spot but you can't buy a super license, those are earned. Is he the best driver? Obviously not. The worst ever? Also obviously not. No, he wouldn't be at AM if he wasn't essentially part of the ownership but he may have been at HAAS or Alpha Romeo. His situation at AM has also kept him from being dropped for an emerging talent giving him a longer driving career than he would have had otherwise. I suspect if he's still midfield or lower this year and the AM is a relatively competitive car, he'll be out at the end of the season and then be a "brand ambassador" or some such, using his driver/owner status as a commercial prop. Fair play to him as he seems a nice enough guy (Canadian after all). Unlike some other drivers over the years he has actually shown the odd flash of real skill. Just not often enough to validate his continual spot in the most competitive seats in the world.
