In tonight video we'll explore together one of the most daring prison escape in history , this real true crime story happened in 1962 when three American inmates managed to escape from Alcatraz prison, one of the most secure prisons in the United States. Frank Morris, John Anglin, and Clarence Anglin spent months digging a hole in the walls of their cells using spoons and other improvised tools. They also created lifelike dummy heads out of soap, toilet paper, and human hair to place in their beds to fool the guards during nighttime checks. On the night of the escape, the three men climbed through the hole in the cell wall and made their way to the roof of the prison, where they used improvised tools to climb down the side of the building and make their way to the shore. From there, they used a raft made out of raincoats to paddle away from the island and into the San Francisco Bay.

  • Great story. Great video. Narration was good too. Which is important. I’m actually glad they got away. They did it! Too bad the fourth guy didn’t get out too. He did contribute a lot to the escape of the others. So in reality they were smarter than most of the guards etc that were meant to make it escape proof. Just proves how intelligence can be such a powerful tool!

  • it's a shame that people just refuse to grasp that some criminals really are extremely brilliant and daring. I mean think about it, they chose to be criminals, they will always be looking for the 'one' opportunity no matter what it is. Escape and disappearing are easy for those who are 100% determined. the 3 of them had this really well researched and planned to the minute. The library must have had all the knowledge they needed and they had plenty of time to study. The jailers just refuse to accept their 'impregnable' fortress wasn't as secure as they believed it to be.

  • I watched a movie when I was a young girl, called ESCAPE FROM ALCATRAZ, by Clint Eastwood. It’s many years ago, but I don’t remember it was a group plan; it seems the movie depicts it was a one man plan and action. I stand to be corrected, please.     • I also watched Eastwood's Escape from Alcatraz. I think this Escape was a team project. Allen West got the color paint to make the dummy heads. The Anglin brothers got the raincoats and the barbershop hair clippings. Frank Morris was the master mind. So, you are correct that one operation leader created the Escape plan.
