Toyota Aygo X Review - the best small car?

2024 ж. 2 Мам.

Say hello to the new Toyota Aygo X!
Toyota’s beefed up its entry-level offering, and it’s now one of the smallest crossover SUVs you can buy! But is it really worth it?
Well, let’s check out the design. It’s clear to see it’s increased in size compared to the previous edition, having grown slightly wider, longer and taller! It also comes in a pretty fetching two-tone paint, and if you’re willing to splash the cash, you can ever get it with a canvas folding roof!
On the inside, it’s clear that this is Toyota’s entry-level car. There’s scratchy plastic found throughout the cabin, apart from on the areas you’ll touch often, such as the steering wheel and gear stick. The infotainment screen ranges between 7 - 9 inches, and the graphics are suitable for a car of this size. Thankfully Android Auto & Apple CarPlay are both available.
Where the Aygo X is really let down is the engine. There’s only one available, a 1-litre 3 cylinder that produces an almighty 72hp.
The Aygo X starts from just £16,000, so should you choose it over competitors such as the SEAT Ibiza or Hyundai i10? Stick with Mat to see for yourself!

  • My mom used to drive a 2011 Peugeot 107 and then a 2014 Peugeot 108 because she works in a Peugeot dealer in Portugal, and both cars were the rebadge of the 1st and 2nd generations of the Aygo, and I fell in love with both of them. I'm actually sad that Peugeot and Citroën stopped producing their version of the car, but I'm glad to see that the whole DNA of the previous generations is still there. Good work Toyota

  • I had a 2019 version of the previous model. Needless to say it was faultless right from the start, no teething troubles and no others either. The back seats were permanently down, the space filled with a couple of old duvets and it became the car for transport of our two dogs - a Terrier and a pet Greyhound. They had masses of room to stretch out. Those old style flip out windows , along with the privacy glass, were absolutely ideal for the dogs. The best bit though? It was just like driving a proper small engined, small Italian car. (With decent build quality thrown in) Needed to be worked with the gears, and taken to the max with the revs but that little 3 cylinder engine is actually great. Not going fast had never felt…so fast. Great on the twisty stuff. Complete fun, completely faultless and actually comfy…I’m 6ft tall. Add to that the masses of safety Builth into the car…it’s a winner.

E10 petrol not so good, knock 4 or 5 MPG off if you're gonna use cheapskate juice! I do find it a little noisy at 70mph, but it's bearable. It's comfy, it's cosy in hot and cold weather, great active cruise, lane assist and rear reversing camera. I bought a spare wheel /space saver kit for mine, from Toyota at just £145, but you do lose some boot space then though! I never carry rear passengers, so no issue to me, there's plenty of space in the front though!

  • The original 05-14 Aygo was fantastic because it was so cheap and did what it said on the tin. You got no luxuries, not even a glove box but this was reflected in the price. If you just wanted a reliable car that got you and your shopping from A to B, the aygo was the motor to go for. The Aygo X has completely lost sight of this and doesn't really seem to have any purpose or USP. It's a shame really, they took a great original concept and messed with it so much that it now doesn't perform well in any area. The three cylinder engine is gutless but it sounds pretty decent if you keep the revs up

    @jacktrethewey4376@jacktrethewey4376 Жыл бұрын
    • Its the same engine from the original model but due to all the extra weight and height and especially unsprung mass its incredibly slow and painful to try and get moving. New tyres are those ridiculous wheels cost £150+ a pop and it drives awful compared to the old shape it feels like it wants to fall over in the corners and the suspension is stiff to try and compensate for the ridiculous proportions of the car.

  • I have this car. I like it. But every time I turn it on I turn OFF the ‘stop start’ technology and the weird lane assist, and I don’t like the constant beeping of the pre collision detection which you can turn down but not off! The car isn’t quick by any means, but it’s comfortable to drive and sits at 70 with ease. It’s nice to drive. The air vents should move in two directions not 1, and there should be middle dash vents. You only get the side vents. Demisting is quite quick. Petrol consumption is good. 👍

Basically in Czech language everything is pronounced same way as it's written 😉 on the other hand, I totally understand that it would be silly to want pronounce things differently in different countries but just to keep it right, the first version is correct.

    • @@Lewis_Treff97 I was going by quickfit prices to be fair. Aygo x drivers might find them £10 cheaper somewhere else but the choice at that size is atrocious. £150 for ps4s on 19s sounds really good to be fair. I'd be chuffed at that price. I pay about £104 for pirreli 16s on my i20. OK tyres. They are certainly no ps4s. 😅
