About us,
We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.
Please subscribe and follow our families journey, with the up’s and down’s in moving from the UK to rural France and restoring this beautiful building to its former glory.

    • Right? This woman is a prize! Also I have a dachshund who hangs with me in my gardens digging, digging and more….well you know. Such fun doggies. Everything is looking beautiful you hard work is really very visible and just think what these grounds are going to look like in the years to come. Absolutely your pay offs will take a while but all worth it.

  • Please Mum, remember to take care of yourself also. You are a great example to your family with the work you do tirelessly. I am saying you are not as young as your son so please take more breaks and dont overextend yourself so you will be around for the end of the project.😊😊❤

  • The other day my son and I were talking about how far technology has come in our life time and how we can both enjoy things we never could have, when we were younger. I never thought I would be watching families and couples restore chateaus in France and become so interested in each individual, as if they were close friends. You are also personable, admirable and extremely hard workers, whom I have become invested in. Amazing job on the walled garden so far and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for it and your family.

  • When this was built, they had dozens of hands to get the job done. You all have done an amazing amount of quality work. Bravo! (Tip: When planning the garden, use flour to lay out and adjust the paths in advance. It's cheap, environmentally friendly and easy to visualize.)

    • @Ashley Waters flour is great unless it rains, a spray can, znh colour, is more permanent if necessary Also look at Aberglasney Gardens here in Wales as they have set out beds with a square shape turned into a diamond shape They have edged their borders with small posts 2' high plus sturdy wire threaded through, and grow pears and apples on this. It maximises the growing area. Good luck

I don’t know how you aren’t super sore after all of the heavy work you’ve been doing for two years now. I admire all of you tremendously. The walls are a huge part of the chateau gardens and they look beautiful. Congratulations on getting this big job completed. Hugs xx

    • Stephanie Garomon -- I know exactly what you are saying. I was sitting here watching them moving such heavy blocks and thinking that at any moment someone was going to throw out their back. Moving such heavy blocks of cement not engaging the abdominals properly and bending the way they do can cause serious trouble to the lower back. I hope they have some sort of therapy at least once every two weeks. The kind of work they do is very demanding and there are just four ppl doing everything. Such amazing family working together on such big project. I can only admire them all for their resilience and determination.

  • I certainly enjoyed this video without the intro and lengthy outro, more substance, less fluff. I laughed when I saw Jonathon on the tractor, it brought back memories of summers on my Grandparents farm. Nothing builds confidence faster then driving a tractor at a young age. Way to go, Jonathon. :)

As one who owes my fair complexion and red hair to my Scottish and Irish heritage, I was watching you Tracey and Terry, working out there in the sun and saying to myself how come they don’t get sunburnt? And then! - the next morning revealed that you did! Sympathies from one who knows how that feels.😅🥰

I'm not sure if you guys realize how much your channel is needed right now in a world of chaos and frustration and panic. Not to be dramatic, but just taking a break to feel like we are part of what you are doing I think must be really therapeutic for a lot of people. Part saving a château, part helping humanity 😁 Not too shabby.

Pipes froze no water but you have to carry on other factor's in you're life you have to go though , you look back and think how did we do that you're amazing and hard working . You've done so much and you've made a big difference along with a new life in another country , I don't speak much but I love now you've turned two buildings into you're home . It can take a toll working so hard the worst has been done and the future is looking so good , it should get easier you tackle everything with such zest it's sometimes hard going , but look what you can do as a family and I'd get some stuff planted vegetables and grow fruit the ground should be perfect not been used . You're produce will help run you're ingoings everythinng helps , people could pick their own fruit supermarkets will soon be finished and it's back to home grown with no pesticides . You'll be able to feed you're family and sell to people to help them we get worse before we get better but you'll need to grow , keep up the work I enjoy watching you and young Jonathan what you are teaching him is a beautiful life for the future just magical close to nature my love too you all ❤❤❤

  • You have all done such a brilliant job with the hardscape. The chateau feels like it's finally getting framed properly and able to lift its head high. The vision of how it will look is becoming clearer. In a couple years or so, you'll all be gathered below the gardens, gazing up gobsmacked at the beauty you have all created as the gardens come into their own. Lovely, lovely stuff to look forward to. Thank you so much.

  • I know that I’ve stated it before, but I am absolutely amazed at the work that all of you do with no “real” expertise in any of this stuff. I watch several channels like yours and I love how all of you simply “crack on” with what needs doing. Keep up the good work!

  • What a huge bit of work!! It looks lovely, and I can't wait to see the next steps in creating the garden. We're doing a bit of stone work ourselves, with pieces about a quarter the size of those capstones, and we find them quite heavy! Tracy is an inspiration! Love Jonathan's smile as he drove the tractor.

  • A lovely day but I think some sunburn medication might be needed for those shoulders!😳 Terry and Tracy are such a loving mum and son team! Their laughs are so contagious🤗 what a change getting all the capping stones (slabs) set in place. You are an unstoppable force. Super to see Jonathan driving the tractor just as uncle Ash taught him!
