Repair Excavator Quick Hitch | Line boring & Welding

2021 ж. 21 Қаз.
701 811 Рет қаралды

In this video we are line boring and bore welding to repair a Quick Hitch (quick coupling) off a Komatsu PC300 Excavator. The pin positions on the quick hitch have a failed repair by someone else and the weld layer is delaminating and breaking apart so we need to weld them up and bore them out to spec. We also need to repair the spacer plates that have a cracked weld. This shows the step by step process to repair the pin positions using our Sir Meccanica WS2 portable line boring machine. There is also some air arc gouging and welding to repair the cracked welds on the spacer plates.
In this video we are using:
- Sir Meccanica WS2 Portable line boring machine
- WIA weldmatic 500i welder

Much of the work was in remote mining locations. There's something utterly satisfying in watching that bore-welder doing its thing. I used a Speedglas helmet, too. • Oh man, great video...! I know those portable boring machines have been around for a long time, and are an awesome “piece of kit” to have, but that long swivel lance set-up, is just freaking awesome... I am not a welder (at least not since junior high school shop, 40yrs ago), and not a machinist, just a weirdo that “geeks out” about this stuff, seeing the end result of your projects are awesome... Thank you folks, for your efforts. P.S., great addition, that clock in the background. Tons of prep/set-up for a 20-30minute bore, times 4...

  • This is what i love about you Curtis. I bet you could have just welded those cracks over, even if there was grease behind and made it look pretty, but no, you do it right, and if that means doing extra work to ensure that the job is well done, you do it. I bet that costumer with this hitch will be happy about that, and going forward i bet he is going to use you, instead of those amateurs that did the first lineboring and welding job. Being a craftsman that puts pride in his job, and will not compromise on quality is what it's all about. Job well done
