  • I was rooting for Troy, but the last wager was a bad wager. He was guaranteed to win if he had more time to think through the scenario. Here's why. 1. Because Ben had 2 wins, Yogesh goal was to NOT lose to Ben. 2. Since Yogesh was only focused on NOT LOSING to BEN, his ONLY sensible play is to bet $3201 because that allows him to beat Troy by 1 and NOT lose the TOC to Ben. If he's wrong. Because obviously Ben would double his score. 3. Knowing that's the goal, Troy should've bet $2. There's no value in risking what he risked because under no circumstance would Yogesh bet that much to pass him. This is why I love jeopardy! There's some game theory in these final wagers.

    @jeopardyman9@jeopardyman9Ай бұрын
    • I was thinking this too!!!!!!!!

      @FakePage-qq8pu@FakePage-qq8puАй бұрын
    • If Troy bet $0, this would force Game 7 to declare who will win TOC 2024. It's too bad Ben missed the second Daily Double in the second round, as he would bet $2000. Since it would declare Ben to win $250.000 if he’d got the response correct. For contestants finding Daily Double and making it into the next Tournament of Champions in 2026, please don’t risk it all, as it may be shown Jeopardy contestants don’t know the category if either the first or second contender gets it wrong or not.

      @henrywong4843@henrywong4843Ай бұрын
    • It's not quite that simple. While it is true that Yogesh wouldn't risk losing to Ben, Yogesh could have bet up to $10,199 and still stayed ahead of Ben even if Ben gets it right. To cover this scenario, Troy would have had to bet at least $7000 which would have dropped him to $12,800 which is still slightly 1:33 below where Yogesh ended up. Yogesh was simply in a strong position - there was no way for Troy to cover all the possible bets of Yogesh and still win if they both missed.

      @hgb0005@hgb0005Ай бұрын
    • Troy's score was the sum of Yogesh and Ben's scores combined; if he wanted to win without a tiebreaker, Troy's best bet was to cover Yogesh; but by doing so, instead of trying for a tie, he put himself one dollar below Ben should he fail to respond correctly. As such, in order to nab the win himself, Ben had to wager all of his money. In fact, it was Yogesh who underwagered; the conventional wisdom would have been for him to bet everything as well, in the hopes that Troy would wager for a tie instead and that they both get Final right, sending them to a tiebreaker. Had that been the case, and their FJ answers remain the same, Yogesh would have dropped to $0, and thus Ben would have won the game, and the tournament, by a dollar.

I guess I'll just concentrate on trying to come up with the right answer. I'm abroad, so I can't see whole episodes except in pirated uploads, which I refuse to watch. If Ben had won, it would’ve been among the biggest comebacks in tournament history, and I would’ve loved to see that. I will say that we will get to see the James vs Yogesh rivalry that we never saw off camera in Masters, so that will be fun. Congrats to Yogesh (whether he deserved it or not) and to Ben and Troy for a great tournament.

  • Ugh, very disappointing outcome. Honestly, the ONLY outcome of the 2024 Tournament of Champions I didn’t want to see. I would love to see a potential “Holzhauer vs Yogesh” grudge match in the 2024 Masters just for James Holzhauer to get his revenge against Yogesh. If James Holzhauer decimates Yogesh in the Masters (He better!), James Holzhauer’s professionalism and charming personality will be the perfect foil to Yogesh Raut’s rude and offensive humor, violent buzzer slams, and egregiously unsportsmanlike behavior.
