  • Good boy, most people misunderstand roosters but I think they’re absolutely majestic. It’s rare to find an animal so willing to give it his all to protect those under his charge.

    • Trust me, it's not that rare at all. It's basically leader instinct. Especially roosters. Those mofos will shred your face off if you tried anything funny to their flock. And i'm not even exagerating.

    • @@zebimicio5204 Chickens are prey animals for sure. Their preference are insects most, but they also eat snakes, mice, basically anything they can kill. Bears eat plenty of plants but they also prey upon salmon, etc. same thing

  • I saw a rooster and hen on my street once. In the middle of lots of houses for miles here come this couple. They were so big, well fed and just gorgeous. It was odd seeing them just walking along, and pecking ar the grass. Well I watched for like a 1/2 hr and what got me is how they coordinated their way along this neighborhood. The rooster watched mostly, but if he decided toceat the hen would stop eating and turn into the watch guard. They were the way chickens should be. They were very large, had their beeks,, all their toe nails, all their feathers. Not anything scrawny, scared, half beaten by factor farming about them. It was such a rare treat to see chickens look so majestic, beautiful, acting natural, and free. Yet it was also the endearing closeness of this pair. I could feel their love for one another. Very endearing. What a neat thing it is to see a so called farm animal be so free and natural and beautiful and have such a endearing closeness to one another. To see them enjoy what humans enjoy, the sun, the air, the environment.

    • When he sees something, often from above like a hawk, he gives off that alarm squawk for a nice long time and the hens headed for cover. They were mostly under a tree in the corner due to his warning. The others were running in between cover probably because they were the only one who picked a particular cover and when they stopped to think about it became anxious that they were alone.

  • hahahaha A flock of chickens usually catches my attention for a bit to see how the ole boy is doing his job. I'd suggest anyone that doesn't know chickens to stop and give them some attention. There's a lot going on in a flock and the Cock is directing most of what happens with his girls. From directing somewhat their direction, finding food for them and not only finding it but calling them to it and showing them. Watching for danger or other roosters and sounding the alarm sending them for cover. Hardly just a bunch of dumb birds walking around aimlessly. There's plenty of communication going on between them.

    • @@EmilyTienne It amazes me how many people will comment, and have opinions about things they obviously know nothing about. How are you forming an opinion about this, when you can’t even figure out which one is a rooster? Much less know what he did to keep his flock safe? First off, the rooster does not run at all. He stood, sounding the alarm, for a long time! These hens must not be use to having a rooster around. Typically, the moment a rooster sounds the alarm, they run for cover. Which, eventually, all the hens headed to the corner of the yard. This flock has more than one rooster. So the one that sounded the alarm, stays in the open, so if the predator decides to attack, it comes for him, and not his flock. The other goes to be by the flock, to intervene, if needed. But if the first rooster is attacked, the others will come to his aid. And it’s not what he heard. It is what he saw. This is a very intelligent and brave rooster. You just aren’t smart enough to know, to not form opinions about things you know nothing about.
