Wow...it's unexpectedly quiet even at high speed. And of course fast for only 75HP, though it reaches 190 (= real 180) only on slightly downhill parts. Well done, Opel!
The wing mirrors are part of the hood, no wind noise at high speeds...

I also absolutely love the Vectra B. I honestly think it's one of the best looking sedans ever.
I've just got one... 1.6 16v cca 100HP. I love it...there is "material" in it, good to open and close its door, it is heavy and feels like a tank. It's 21 years old now and 175.000km in it. (X16XEL) I only miss the AC...my Vectra does not equipped with air conditioner...except this the car is great for me and I will keep it as safe as I can.

Very good car, only issue was the rear of car do rust, have to have it cleaned and waxed to protect from corrosion
I had the same car but with an Irmscher exhaust system and that made exactly 200 according to the clock. Back in 1997 it was actually not a bad top speed and stability was quite good.

I own a '98 Vectra B 1.8 16V Station wagon (Caravan), once I drove it at 185 kms/h in a highway in Chile... it was 14 years old by that time. Solid as a rock.
Holy crap, they did a wagon version in Chile? I'm surprised, because here in Brazil they only sold the saloon version, some people still have it around here, they say that the 2.0 and 2.2 are capable of going above 200 KM/H comfortably.

I still have our beloved Vectra Combi 1.9 CDTI from 2004. Years ago during our first Christmas trip to Poland I was doing 180 on German motorways and it felt like cruising and there was space for more than 220. Now I guess we would blow up in the air at that speed :-)

i drive a Vectra B 2.2 2002 stock and its pretty fast... 230km/h
Tremendously fast for a combination between only 75ps, 1.6-litres engine and 1.2-tonnes curb weight. An indicated 198km/h on slightly downhill/level road incarnates this car does a real 185-190km/h maximum, not only well above the manufacturer data but also proves supreme mechanical efficiency.

I loved my ex Opel Omega 2.5 V6 automatic. Model year 2000 and last Omega model ever made. Slow from 0-100 km/h but quite fast when overtaking. Sadly it had catastrophic engine failure and it was gone :(
2003 was the last year Omegas were made, also you must have ran it out of oil as the 2.5 is pretty much bulletproof
So: -No A/c -No rev counter -No front Electric window -Quick way on the roof to escape in case of accident This is an unpowered lightweight car, ready for some cheap trackday
old repairable cars like this shouldnt be shredded on the track imo. these are the last long life cars
especially if a car has lasted this long it is of good quality. all the other old cars are already scrapped.

Hello. I haved a car like this, but it was an opel vectra b caravan from 1997 with the same engine . It was a very good car, so silence and the stability also because of independent suspension.The lines of this car are very beautiful for that times.. I sell it on 370000 km with no problems at engine, just some rusty parts... but was a good car. Nice video!

Eram muito bons carros. Tinham uma solidez e rolamento impressionantes para a época, especialmente os de 98 em diante. Tive 2 e gostei mais que os Audi a4 ou BMW 316 da época.

I own one of these (1999) with 3.2L engine swapped in it (z32se) with f23 gearbox and x25xe intake manifold and engine management. I like it :P
Not bad for 75hp. In my country Portugal i think all Vectras B 1.6 come with 101hp and 16v! 75hp was in the Vectra A 1.6i 8v
In Portugal the entry level engine was the 1.6 100hp and was the most popular gasoline engine in this model. 2.0 Dti and 2.2 Dti (with 100 and 125hp respectively) were quite popular aswell.
After watching these videos I start to think that the power numbers are way underrated. It is hard to believe that only 75 hp can achieve around 190 km/h. Wow!
On these speed Opel speedometer show maybe more than 10 km/t to much. I have earlier a Astra F. Wien it show 160 i drive 146 on GPS , and when it show 60 i drive 51 on GPS with standard size wheel.
@@Martin11969 Even at 180 km/h it's still impressive for only 75 hp. With that much power I would expect 150, maybe 160 at best.
@@mardamek More than 160 could it run. My X16XEL in my earlier stationcar (wagon) could run 179 km/t in the paper. It has 100 HK. There is not so much difference in top speed between the engines power.

My first car Vectra B 1999 1.8 - the best car i ever had since than. I love it. Unfortunately it rusted away and i had to sell it at 350 000 km
These were sold in the United States as Saturn L-Series. They came with either a 135 hp 2.2L or a 182 hp 3.0L V6. There was criticism in the automotive press about sluggish acceleration so a 75 hp version must be really underpowered!

Man if I did 170km/h with a Fiat Punto 1.1 55hp, then this is easily true also
I had a 1.1 punto. Did 155km/h downhill - all of the dash lights came on and the engine just shut down. Once I hit 130-ish, the engine fired back up again. Safe to say, I never tried driving faster than 120km/h in that thing ever again
