For those who love to maintain their own vehicle... this video is dedicated to you! Have fun and enjoy each moment you spend working on your car! thank you for watching and please subscribe and support my channel. God bless!
Lolo Groovy, I believe you live in the States, right ? I must remind my kababayans here in the Philippines that the Mitsubishi Lancer featured in Lolo Groovy's blog ( Lancer ES) is different from that sold in the Philippines ( Lancer EX), although they look the same. The Philippine version was equipped with a conventional automatic transmission and so requires the Mitsubishi / DiaQueen SP III ATF.
Thank you AK NAYAB for the advice. Have a wonderful day ahead. God bless!
From Australia, best video I've seen for transmission fluid and filter change for mitsubishi lancer. Thanks mate. Keen to see some more videos from you :)
Thank you for watching and I also have a video you might want to watch. Last portion of this video is changing the cooler filter for the transmission fluid. If your vehicle is equipped with one, you also need to replace the filter. Again thank you and have a wonderful day. kzhead.info/sun/iJ1weNaHiXycomw/bejne.htmlsi=mYNPs3mdP2fvWqtI

Thank you to everyone who watched my videos and support my channel! This is the link of my video on how to replace the transmission cooler filter kzhead.info/sun/msmfh5ikqoyJaY0/bejne.html This filter is important for the good circulation of the transmission fluid. It is best to replace this filter the same time you change the transmission fluid. Again thank you for your support!
Thanks for sharing Lolo Groovy pati sa sasakyan magaling po kayo.☺️👍

very good 👍💪🙏
Thank you for watching!
Very detailed! I would skip the silicone, not needed if the surfaces are flat and clean and properly torqued. In the old days it was a standard step, but no more. You risk getting clumps of silicone floating around in the fluid and blocking tiny passages or interfering with the various belts and mechanisms, not to mention the big PITA next time you have to use a pry bar tool for removal and risk bending the thin pan and hassles of removal. Just check for drips and retorque as needed. Thanks for the soft mellow music, I won't watch the videos that sound like a pinball machine or have loud music. I bet next time you could edit this down to 1/2 the time or more and get more views?
Thank you so much for your helpful advice. Your observation can help me make more effective and good videos in the future. Keep safe always and have a wonderful day ahead.
Hero right here
Thank you so much for watching and please also watch the video on how to replace the transmission cooler filter. kzhead.info/sun/msmfh5ikqoyJaY0/bejne.html Have a wonderful weekend.
Nice po Lolo!!!
Salamat sa pagbisita. God bless!
Hi Lolo, thank you for your videos, they helped me alot! Could you tell me if i can wash and reuse the metal return pan filter? not the one for the cooler, but the one inside the sump tray, thanks!
If you want to reuse the old screen... just make sure that it's not damage and still in good condition. Thank you for giving time watching and good luck on you project!
Another informative video fr lolo groovy!
Thanks!
DW40 😂😂 3:30 Good work!
Thank you for watching.
Excellent detailed video! I've been hesitant to do it but my Trans whines after long trips & seems sluggish so I figured it's best(only 75k on it). Also not shelling out 400 for Mitsubishi to do it with only a 70% clean. 3 questions, is yours a 2.0 or 2.4? Also any unexpected issues during the change or after? Was this normal maintenance or was yours making a whine/sluggish?
Thank you for watching my video. Mine is a 2.4L engine and I don't experience any problem before and after changing the trans fluid. I only drive the car to work and no highway. Wishing you the best when you do yours and don't forget to change the transmission cooler filter if it is equip with one. I posted a video on how to change the filter. Again thanks and have a good day ahead.
@@lologroovydiy thanks. Going tomorrow to get all the stuff & find out exactly. Hours or research has show which models have a cooler and dont
Did it fix your whining?
Any updates? Mine started whining at 88k currently sitting at 92k miles.
Good info for lancer owner, there is cvt oil cooler you need to change. Its place at the bottom off the battery.
Thanks for the info. Thanks for watching and keep safe always.
Hey Lolo, great video. very detailed. However, you used a silicone for this process. Is this something that is needed or was only a personal preference. If silicone is needed, what would you recommend? Thanks very much in advance for your response..
I prefer to use silicone, just to make sure that there's no leak. The gasket is good by itself... as long as the surface was cleaned properly and without any scratches. Thanks again for watching and have a good day ahead.
Good Day my friend. I like your video. I have a Lancer 2014 and l am wondering how many quarters should l use to change the cvt fluido. 7.5 quarters? Thabks so much.
When I change the cvt fluid, it took more than 5 quarts. Thanks for Watching. Keep safe and enjoy working with your car.
Same car here, 2.4l though. Yes you'll need that much if that much comes out. Mitsubishi has a process where they vacuum/pressure blow out only 70% of the fluid and there's almost no way to get it all out. Best bet is to drain, change filter & measure how much came out then replace. It's pretty much the exact way a dealership would do it as they will admit their tool doesn't do a 100% clean out
How much torque in Nm for oil pan and thank you for the helpful great video.
I use 69 inch/pound and if you convert it to NM it's about 93.6 NM. Thank you for watching and have a good day ahead!
This one brother
Salamat po 🇵🇭 … mabuhay!
Salamat sa pagbisita AK NAYAB and stay safe lagi. God bless!
Thanks for the video sir, i have 2009 lancer gt with 322K on it, I haven’t change my cvt oil till now, is it ok if i do it now! Or it would damages the transmission?
Unfortunately 322 thousand kilometers is a big number and if its my car I'll leave it as is. Keep safe and thanks for watching!
mine is 370k and still running like a tiger , you don't need to change it buddy
Hi my friend, l would like yo ask you if it is normal that this mitsubishi consume coolant from the reservor? I have seen that level reduces in my Mitsubishi. thank you
My lancer is a 2015 model and since I bought it, I only add coolant twice. If you're car is loosing too much coolant for a short period of time... then there must be a problem! I hope you're not loosing too much coolant. My advice is to check for leaks. Thank you for watching and keep safe always.
Can you do the cooler filter underneath the car? I watched another video where it was near the drain pan.
Yes you can, if it's easier to reach the cooler filter from under the car. Thanks for watching and have a good one.
I did not see you put a new transmission gasket when you put the pan back on?
Unfortunately my camera was not on when I place the gasket. So, I just mentioned on the video that I also place a layer of silicone on both sides of the gasket. Thank you so much and rest assured that this kind of attention will surely make me strive to make a better video in the future. Have a wonderful day ahead.
do you need silicone around the gasket? i heard people just screw the back on and it’s fine??
I just want to make sure that I don't get a leak when putting it back so I use silicone. I think it's better safe than sorry cause the fluid is very expensive. Thank you for your interest and keep safe always... have a pleasant day ahead!
dropped oil and replaced without changing filters yesterday and cars gone into limp mode with code p0868, not sure whats going on D: great video tho might have to swap filters
I Googled the code and the reason came out as... transmission fluid is low. If the correct amount of fluid is put in, I don't know why this happened. I'm not sure though and not familiar with the code P0868. I never experience this before. There's a transmission cooler filter that I change the same time when replacing the transmission fluid. If your car is equipped with this filter try checking out this link. kzhead.info/sun/msmfh5ikqoyJaY0/bejne.html Thanks again for watching and hope everything goes well.
@@lologroovydiy its equipped with both & will be the next process
I have 2015 Lancer ES 100K mileages. Can I just drain the transmission fluid without take off the pans? Why do you need to take off the pans? What worry me the most, your gasket could leak when you remove the gasket the pan. Put them back with specific torque. The specific torque is important.
There's magnet inside the pan that collects debris that needs to be cleaned. It is also important to change the transmission cooler filter if your car is equipped with one. (kzhead.info/sun/msmfh5ikqoyJaY0/bejne.html) thanks for watching.
@@lologroovydiy perfect. Amazing video.
I'm at 92k miles thinking about doing this. Can you please update us on how it turned out. Did you end up doing the transmission fluid change
When do I know if my Lancer mileage is too high to do this fluid change along with the filter under the battery or if I should leave it as is
First of all, thank you for watching! I replaced my transmission fluid and filter when it reached 70k miles. Just for reference, check your owners manual to be sure before changing the fluid. Thanks again and have a good day ahead.
I got a 2015 lancer es 118k miles. Would it be safe to change fluid and filter or let it be
If it's my car, I won't change the fluid but I will replace the transmission cooler filter located under the battery. This will help for better fluid circulation. Just to be on the safe side also check with your trusted mechanic for advise. Good luck and thank you for watching!
If you already changed the transmission filter, you should have changed the one in the cooler
I did change the transmission cooler filter and also have a video on that. Thank you for watching and have a wonderful day ahead.
Generally a good video but do not use silicone sealant on the transmission gasket. Silicone both swells and can ball in that environment and get into the valve body and other critical control areas of the CVT. If you must use a sealant use an anerobic sealant such loctite 515 or similar. There was far too much silicone used on that gasket.
Your advice is much appreciated and very helpful in the future. Thank you for watching and have a wonderful weekend.
What engine 2.4 mivec? 4 cyl? Like 2017 outlander sel?
I'm not sure but I'll check it out. Thanks for watching!
I have a Mitsubishi Lancer 2008 my problem is that my car is not moving in no gears and making a loud noise by the drive side wheel could some tell me the problem do I need to change the oil?? Or is my whole car fucked?
If your car is not moving in any gear and making noise... changing the oil will not fix the problem! Maybe your clutch is slipping and I would suggest that you have it check by a mechanic. Thanks for watching.
Maraming salamat AK NAYAB at keep safe always. God bless!
Is there a filter also under battery have you heard about this
Yes there's one and I already replace it! Thanks for watching and keep safe always!
Bonjour sur boite vitesse manuelle faut mette combien de litre huile surtout laquelle
I'll do a research on manual transmission and if I find one then I'll message you. Thanks for watching!
Filter must be need to change?? Any way to clean filter for re use filter???
I don't feel that it's a good idea to reuse the filter... because it's a sealed and also a one time use filter only! Thank you for watching and have a wonderful day ahead.
what different cvt oil J1 and J4? because my dip stick is J1
If your transmission dip stick indicates that J1 is recommended, you should go with it! It might cause some problem in the long run if you use a different fluid type in your transmission. Thank you for your interest and good luck on your project.
May I know what is the torque for the oil pan screw?
I did some research and most posting would say 29 ft/lb. I'm not sure though. For doing oil change I just hand tighten the bolts and it works fine. I'm still looking for more info on this. Have a good day ahead and thank you for watching!
@@lologroovydiy😊
lo i just recently changed my transmission fluid however, i was told that since it was a cvt i dont have to change filter :/ is that true
Maybe you can still use the old filter but I would rather stay in the safe side and change it. You can also change the transmission cooler filter located under the battery. kzhead.info/sun/msmfh5ikqoyJaY0/bejne.html
- 17:50 - The oil level is not visible on the oil dipstick. Where is the exact max and min on the oil dipstick❓
That's correct, theres no marking on the dip stick! When changing the fluid, measure the amount of fluid that comes out of the pan and put the same amount back into the transmission. Assuming that the fluid is in the correct amount. Thank you for watching and have a good day ahead.
@@lologroovydiy - The problem is that I only check the level and it seems to me that the oil level is too low. There are no marks on the dipstick for min and max. ➖🤫.
Boss did you replace the filter with a new one?
Yes sir... I change the filter and also the transmission cooler filter.
kzhead.info/sun/msmfh5ikqoyJaY0/bejne.html
@@lologroovydiy Thank you sa info sir, Mabuhay ka!
Le falto canbiar el filtro cvt uno pequeño
What was the part number! Pls I need to know
I wish I can be of help... unfortunately all the packaging and receipts was already discarded! The best way is to visit the parts department of a dealer and provide them the VIN# of the car. Thank you for watching and good luck!
So are you gonna change the transmission filter that is on the bottom of the battery I think is call transmission coller filter 🤔
You're absolutely right... there's a filter in the transmission cooler! I already replaced that filter. Thank you for your support! kzhead.info/sun/msmfh5ikqoyJaY0/bejne.html
Where did you get the transmission filter?
I purchased the transmission filter and the transmission cooler filter at the Mitsubishi dealer. Thank you for watching and have a good day ahead.
Thank you my drain bolt ended up being 19mm
Is the 2016 Lancer similar
One year difference, should be the same.
Hai ...do i have to start the engine ?
After changing the transmission fluid and everything is installed back and looks good. Starts the engine and shift the gear from high to low and do it for a while so that the fluid will go through all the gears. Make sure to also change the transmission cooler filter. Theres a link attached on my pin comment. Thank you for watching and have a wonderful day ahead.
Every 40k km ?? Basically all the time right?
I did mine at 50,000 miles. If it is change more often it is for the benefit of your car. Thank you for watching and have a wonderful day ahead!
Cvt j1 can change cvt j4...?
I'm not sure if it can be substituted. I'll try to find out. Thank you for watching and have a wonderful day ahead.
Can you reuse gasket?
I'm afraid to reuse a gasket because the chance of leaking is big. I don't recommend using a used gasket. Thanks for watching and always keep safe!
how to Check cvt oil level run the engine or not?
I check the cvt oil level when the engine is cold. Thank you for watching. Have a good day ahead!
Hoe many quarts did you use
Measure the amount that came out of your transmission and put the same amount back. Thats what I did with mine. Hope this help and thanks for watching!
@@lologroovydiy do you change the transfer oil
Sorry, the torque was 69 in/pounds?
Thanks for the helpful information! Have a good day ahead.
@@lologroovydiy I was asking you, because I dont get it, not for hate or something, i really dont know the torque, and I need to know
I use 69 inch/pound on my car.
San po kayo nakabili ng transmission filter
Sa Mitsubishi dealer ako nakabili ng transmission filter. Maraming salamat sa suporta AK NAYAB.
How do use amount of torque ?
69 inch/lbs - thank you for watching!
tay fuel filter po sana.
Maraming salamat sa pagbisita AK NAYAB! Hayaan mo pag may nagpagawa post ko agad. Keep safe always at God bless!
The cvt pan doesn’t need silicone/rtv to seal and it shouldn’t be used
Thank you for watching! advice well taken.
All you have to do is change oil
Thanks for watching!
