Thanks for a great video and clarifying that the engine should be running when the Transmission fluid is being checked.
@@jdantigua1999 Thanks for the kind words!
@@jdantigua1999 Thanks!
hey i have mitsubishi 201 asx and its service was due @90K for transmission oil change and i did only basic service but now i am getting warning for transmission service changed required and i wasnt able to drive above 20km/hr before restarting the engine....can u suggest or throw some light as to is there any serious damage to the car its @ around 94k now.....
For 70,000 KM's that fluid was in pretty good shape! Thank you for showing the housing filter above the pan.
Thanks my dude 😎 you just saved me 170 bucks of labor charges at the dealership.
Awesome! Great to hear 🙂
Best video!!! Thank you very much for taking the time to share your video. Very well explained.
Thanks for the kind words!
This was so informational! Thank you for the video. All the other ones I've seen have just been drain n fill. This Is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks
Thankyou for the feedback!
Nice work. We share the same philosophy in regard to attention to detail. Crazy to just drain and refill fluid amd not clean everything up, replace filters and get rid of that sludge. I am about to do the trans service along with serpentine belt, tensioner, idler pullies, NGK coils and plugs, and ceramic brake pads. My Outlander Sport just hit 75k miles and I am really happy with it. I think its a wonderful little SUV that has everything you want and none of what you dont. 4x4, backup camera, 30 miles to the gallon, 12" Rockford Fosgate sub woofer, leather, nice wheels, glass roof, and a great price point!
Great stuff mate!
What cvt box do you have? JF011E???
That fluid is clean!! You must really take care of your car. Great information and Mitsubishi's are easy to work on and glad to see that you can fill it from the top.
Thanks for the video, changed my CVT fluid today. Was a piece of cake!!
Awesome!
using this video as guide. i was able to successfully change the small transmission filter & change the ATF of an ASX 2015. though for the ASX 2015, you still need to remove the crossmember and front engine mount in order to gain access to small transmission filter. took me 4.5 quarts to replace the ATF. thanks mate!
Awesome! Good to hear
I think you have a CVT instead of ATF. Double check and use the correct fluid. CVT is thicker I believe. There are some fluids that claim they can be used for both ATF and CVT but I wouldn't chance it.
视频拍得不错角度光线都很好,全网最详细教程,感谢分享。
Thanks 🙂
Thanks for sharing this informative video & replacing both filters plus instructions for filling back with same amount poured out.👍🏾
You are most welcome, thanks!
@@aheindustries where is that paper filter on a 2018 outlander sport se 2.4 AWC ?
can you list the part numbers for both filters please, great video btw very helpful 👍
I don't have a Mitsubishi, but I do have a CVT civic coupe ex-t. I do my fluid every 25,000 miles. I'll be doing both filters soon. I also use Castrol CVT fluid , cheaper and actually from the data sheets performs better. So far so good.
Good idea, I do mine every 20k miles. Used to do mine at 30k since the car was new but honestly the magnets are still pretty damn full even at that, so I have switched to 20k intervals. I might add another magnet as well next time I do a service.
Hey mate, thanks for uploading the transmission service Video. I think we must be due for the spark plugs and brake fluid change pretty soon. Cheers mate
All of that has been done, I just didn't film it! Cheers
Very good video and very helpful, will now gonna do it on my outlander 2018 2.0 litter
Thanks!
Thanks for the video just what i was looking for im about to change it on my 2017.
Awesome, great to hear!
I serviced the CVT in my Lancer and the gasket I had was leaking (cork gasket), a friend suggested using gasket sealant on where the gasket meets the pan. Great video 👍
Thanks! Yep cork gaskets are pretty average as they will tend to shrink and leak eventually if you don’t re-torque the bolts.
Thank you very much did this last night with your video BUT....I need to drain and do again and buy that 2nd filter. BTW my 2018 had 90KMiles and I had not done this so you probably saved my CVT.
Glad this video helped a bit, thanks!
Bloody well made video bro...thanks alot
Cheers legend!
Definitely new. Learning more experience
Great video mate thanks for sharing Does the Mitsubishi asx use the same transmission im thinking of buying one but not sure if they have transmission issues
Hello thank you for the video!! Would you be able to put on the torque spec for each bolt please!
This is awesome!! Have you changed the rear pads when there is an EPB? I know the process but the real question is why are pads more expensive because of the EPB?
No idea! Ours has the conventional handbrake, so happy days 🤣
Thanks for the informative video, especially the part numbers. Great work! Where did you source the part numbers from? I would like to confirm that they're suitable for my 2014 Outlander before ordering.
The part numbers were direct from my Mitsubishi dealer here in Perth WA. I would double check with your local dealer for your exact year and model. Thanks
Very well explained video!! I think this is the key for these transmission to last a bit longer. I did this on my niece's RVR couple of years ago. They parts guy at the dealer was surprised to see that the side filter was available. I bet not even the dealer replaces that filter. On the RVR (2011) the filter is on the other side at the top and a bit more difficult to replace. I also replace the bottom strainer and agree with you, that most likely can be cleaned and put back. Cheers
Thanks!
thank for the video !!! excellent. Where you buy the parts and oil ?
Auto shop for oil, Mitsubishi for the filters etc.
Will this be the same process and parts for a 2011 Mitsubishi ASX too? Thanks
Just curious. How much oil did it take sir?
Great thorough upload. How often do each of the filters need changing? I took my '17 to the Mitsubishi dealership for cvt fluid service which they used a machine to extract all fluids via cooler line but no mention of filters on the invoices. This was at 30k
Hi mate, the service manual recommended the first fluid change at 90k which i think is pushing it a little too long anyway. No mention of filters either so I doubt the dealers would even change them!
So usually the first 30 k is drain and fill...the secondary service afterwards is supposed to be everything...i dont trust dealers anyway..this is how to realllly do it
I believe the manual states every 30,000 miles for a fluid change. With a 2x drain and fill at intervals to get the most exchange out. The other way is to send it to the dealer for a $330 complete fluid exchange via their machine which gets all 7 quarts out. If you're using J4 from the dealer you'll need 9 quarts total for two drain and fills of 4.2 quarts. $20/quart you might start to consider the dealer's method of fluid exchange as it guarantees all fluid is replaced.
@@TheRecordButton holy moly..
@@fixitfelix718 good holy moly or bad holy moly? Also if you're out of the warranty period, there are cvt fluids that are much cheaper and works (Castrol, Lubegard..)
I wonder if the 2016 lancer has the same filters ?
Hi, same vehicle Gear jerk after replaced gear cooler, i replaced the filter & oil ?
Friend I need to know the description of that transmission please. On the Mitsubishi it is 2700a435 but you have to have another number to buy the parts.
How many quarts of trans oil?
The oil can be changed even if the mileage exceeds 25k miles.
Did you use an impact drill or torque wrench to tighten bolts on the pan or just the regular wrench?
Impact first and then final tighten by hand normally
Thanks for this, I have a 2016 Mitsubishi ASX 2.0L CVT Transmission. Owner before me changed the fluids so I am not sure it's accurate. I want to do what you did about filters and gasket. How much fluid will I need? Also I didn't see the check after the drive, is it that the fluid should be at the top mark above the H after a good drive? Thanks
no more than 4.2 quarts for outlander sel
You should use J1 or J4 cvt fluid only, no replacements though
Yep, and has to be the genuine mitsubishi J4 type, also anyone knows why the prices for that went up?
Penrite has a CVTF J4 equivalent fluid. It’s called Penrite CVT Low viscosity and a bit cheaper than the Mitsubishi fluid
Please what CVT box is that? JFO11E???
Second filter ?
great video. thanks. big like and subscribed
Much appreciated!
I have a 2016 mitsubishi outlander SEL, I don't know what CVT box it uses.
Honestly the magnets look pretty good for 70k on it. Most of the time they are almost full and you can't even see the magnets with how many shavings it has on it.
The joys of owning a vehicle from brand new and servicing it yourself!
Hello bud. Thank for video. Very hood information. Do you know which part number that ring by paper filter which you said you will change next time?
4:47
Thanks for the video! Anyone know if this is the same trans as the 2014?
awesome thanks
Where can i buy this parts? And what its called
awesome vid mate... how much were for each part? im looking at getting the same but dont wanna overspend
Gee mate my memory isn’t that great lol, the invoices are well buried by now too!
@@aheindustries no worries cheers.
Hello how many litres did you need to make the change of oil transmisión? Thanks
4 liter
Hi mate. thanks for this upload. question though. what about the torque tightness of the bolt screws? This is my first time changing the cvt oil tranmission. Or do you have a service manual that I can look into. And also do you use break cleaner to clean the parts (oil pan?). Thanks
Hi Hendrik, mate they are only small 10mm bolts so don't go too crazy. Just a decent nip up. You can use brake cleaner if you wish to clean the pan. i used Kenco degreaser. Cheers
Wish Nissan used replaceable CVT filters !!
From what I have seen, it does have replaceable filter except the screen filter which can be cleaned and reuse
Instead of measuring, just open the atf overfill plug. If atf comes out of overfill plug, it has enough atf.
Where is that at?
Did you use a torque wrench on the pan bolts?
No
Is this an Outlander Sport? Wondering ifvthis is thecsame for my 2015 Outlander sport? Any help w this?
No just a standard 2 litre zx outlander
Good video
Thanks!
Isn’t there another filter in the transmission cooler?
The previous model Outlander and various other cars had the little cartridge filter behind the oil cooler :)
How to reset the service light on the dadh
I have made a separate video on that.
I'm trying to put the pan back but 6 bolts won't tight.. Any ideas what the problem could be?
Maybe cross threaded!
Where can I find the oil filter if it’s not there on my Outlander 2011?
The earlier models were behind the oil cooler
I serviced the transmission changed all the filters and it's still saying transmission service required and the check engine light is on idky, should I get a scan tool and clear the lights off? I drive the 2016 outlander
You need connect the computer and erase the miles on cvt and that’s it
@@Wiky-lh9tn I use a scan tool to scan it and a p0776 code came up
Every figure out the P0776 issue?
When I change my liquid I see that had 3 small magnets
Anyone know if it’s possible to change just the filter? Not sure how much fluid will be lost during the filter change?
Would be an easy job and you would lose minimal fluid. I would highly recommend changing the fluid though!
@@aheindustries Yep, will do it next change, at 110K. Does it use basically 4.5L or 1 gallon almost?
@@aheindustriesJust purchased a paper filter and a couple bottles of BG CVT fluid. Will report back how much fluid comes out since I’m not doing a full change. Only have about 10K miles on the fluid.
Jacked up the front and replaced just the filter on my my 2016. Only lost about 2 ounces of CVT fluid.
Is it the same for the Outlander Sport?
Yes
Muy bueno
Can you do this on 2014 outlander 3.0 v6
It would be a similar process, you would have to check the correct transmission fluid etc
@@aheindustries thanks.
Should I do this at 30k miles?
Around 60-70k miles
How many liters did you end up adding?
4.2
I reuse the gaskets, not really any need to buy new ones all the time unless they get damaged during removal. You can also reuse the metal filter, they can be cleaned with brake cleaner to remove any metal fragments.
You most certainly can, although if it tears it’s a pain in the butt to go get parts when you are halfway through the job!
Why aren't gaskets cheap?
How many quarts of transmission fluid did you need?
you sound like elon musk
First time I have heard that....
For those of you with Mitsubishi ASX/RVR/Outlander Sport. The cooler filter is separate from the transmission. It’s located under the battery. The ASX/RVR uses the Lancer design including the old (but reliable) JF011E CVT design. The 2.4L Outlander CVT uses JATCO’s CVT-8, I believe, until the newly redesigned 2022 model year which uses the newest CVT-X model, which might explain why the filter is actually on the transmission. It appears the filter might be the same filter, but location is dependent on which CVT your vehicle has for sure.
