    • You can see the watermelons are pre-cut (especially at the 0:36 mark) by the zookeeper, which makes the job much easier for the hippo, but still impressive nonetheless.

  • Friend of mine went on an African safari once. The tour guide gave him instructions on what to do if he is ever attacked by an animal, be it a lion, elephant, crocodile, or buffalo. My friend asked what to do if a Hippo were to chase him. The guide said he didn't know, because he never heard of someone surviving a Hippo attack.

To us, they communicate a visceral sense of nature, and most people would agree that it greatly appeals to their monkey brain. That's mammals, though. Many insects, reptiles, amphibians, deep sea fish and moluscs are considered creepy and revolting by most.

  • They are so gentle. After having the watermelon in their mouth, hippos wait for them to remove their hands. Then they start chewing. So sensible.❤️❤️

    • The hands are no where near the inside of the hippos mouth to begin with and hippos would probably be one of the last animals you would consider gentle especially since they kill the most people in Africa yearly with a average of about 500 deaths per year
