    • That's not entirely fair. He's got great athleticism to go with his build, and he's a very good passer and defender. Thing is, when you're a point guard and opposing players just... Back away when you have the ball on the outside, you're probably doing something wrong.

    • feels like these guys have never watched him play, he is an elite defender and is among the best in the league at getting to the rim. you have to have a certain type of player to even hope to slow down simmons, which most teams in the league dont. he obviously has diva tendencies, after all guys like jimmy have been on his bandwagon since he was in high school so what do you expect? 76ers are dumb af for how they handled him, what rivers said was moronic, maybe you say that about a mental giant like phil would say things like that bout kobe, but damn with someone frail as ben you have to be more gentle. thats like getting pissed that your ferrari breaks down after you slip shift, like why are you fucking with that car??

  • I was at the game 7 against Atlanta last year where Simmons passed the ball instead of dunking. I was sitting no more than 30 ft away and even before that it was obvious the entire game, but especially the 4th quarter, that Simmons didn't want any part of having the ball in his hands when they needed a basket. The second after he passed that ball, there was a feeling throughout the entire arena that Simmons just played his last game as a Sixer and GOOD RIDDANCE!! We gave that dude YEARS of patience waiting for him to just attempt shooting the damn ball but he never did. Then had the nerve to try and make it seem like Philly fans are to blame for why he can't play in Philly anymore. Softest professional athlete I've ever witnessed

Picking up trash players in the draft as high picks (Fultz, Simmons), not being able to actually make them even by little better, trying to build teams around them when they are not even good role players, then go ahead and pay them the most money, just to trade them…

Im 5ft8, not very lengthy, not super large like Donovan Mitchell who is 6ft1 but 225pounds … So even if i would have tried to become a pro ball player, with the best coaches, diet ect i would have never become one because i don’t have the natural talent/gift of Ben Simmons or Donovan Mitchell or Rondo who is 6ft with a 6ft9 wingspan and hands of a 7footer, bigger than Lebron hands … Hopefully im French and here the most popular sports is Football (or soccer), so being 5ft8, super quick, agile with amazing balance and soft feet to control the ball and change direction is being gifted/talented lol. But for basketball, Ben Simmons is super talented, a lot of people said he could become as good as Lebron, but what you don’t understand is that passion and hardwork is what make the difference. As talented as he was, Lebron has one of the best work ethic and passion for the game, he know everything about basketball, he take it like a job like all NBA players should but sadly you have TALENTED guys like Ben Simmons who just want money, fame, women, party ect …

The team decided to offer him that amount because that was his value according to the team. They put the multi-year contract on the table and no one forced them to do it. Whatever happens on Simmons and his contribution, the team management itself should take the consequence.

The player decides when they want to leave or if they want to leave, managers can’t force them but can encourage. If a player leaves before their contract ends then there’s a transfer fee. So to me this is basic rights for athletes. They’ve been doing this

    • It’s weird for us Americans because in our biggest sports (football and basketball) this is a relatively new thing. It still doesn’t happen in the NFL but it’s definitely becoming more popular in the NBA. The biggest issues with the trend in American sports is that our leagues have salary caps, so teams aren’t able to just buy a player who may want to move/get more money. Salary caps are good for balancing leagues but hard for athlete mobility.

    • But ask yourself how can players not honor contracts? If they didn’t have the power to not honor contracts, wouldn’t that change something? In every other profession, you have to honor your contract, and if you don’t, there are repercussions.

  • This Ben Simmons situation looks a lot like the Sponge Bob episode where he’s being an overly great and supportive friend toward Squidward when Squidward has nowhere else to go, so his loving neighbor takes him in. Starts out appreciative, then more needy, and by the end of it, he’s demanding and entitled. We see this with shitty kids and people all of the time. Being nice with some people unfortunately won’t work out, because if they’re selfish like this, they’ll just keep taking and taking without a care about anybody else. Ben Simmons, stop being a Squidward.
