I really think that it will be a long time still until we know the longterm effects (with that I mean years and decades, not months). Like was there maybe a reason one of the pig had it's neurolink taken out? I'm guessing that was a spin on something not working out and they salvaged it to use as an example of being healthy after removal. And this is also pigs, since they don't have the higher brain function compared to us it is hard to say if it would be just as seamless to implant in a human. We might just run into harder problems since we have much more fine tuned brains. I will keep an eye on this research, but I wouldn't risk my health and longevity for a brain upgrade in the next coming decades.

We've made artificial neural networks. We've extensively traced and observed em fields the brain generates. That's just how science works. You can't keep repeating the same experiments and expect something novel all the time. It's like learning to bike. Could you be arrested for simply thinking about committing a crime in the future, even if you would probably never actually do that? Would hackers quite literally be able to steal your thoughts? Could companies sneak a desire for their product into your head? These and many more questions like it would be my main concerns.
