  • You may notice a strange edit at the 14:18 mark. That's because I had to remove a tiny section of video as a result of FC Barcelona claiming all the monetisation on this video, and I was forced to remove a tiny clip of Messi scoring his first goal.

    @RealEngineering@RealEngineering4 жыл бұрын
    • @@asefjamilajwad Made worse by the fact I sent them multiple emails, which were all ignored. I wasn't emailing someone random. I emailed the exact person who claimed the revenue for the entire video because of a 10 second clip.

    • @@RealEngineering i really don't get copyright law. First off, the fact that they 'own' every footage of their player seems pretty weird to me. If i go watch a FCB match, film it with my camera, they get to claim all ownership of my video because it included one of their players? That would be like Boeing claiming all my monetization if their airplanes happen to be in my uploaded video's. Secondly, the fact that they can claim ALL monetization for a 10 sec clip of a video that's not even remotely about them or their assets, is insane. I would still understand if they get to claim a small % of monetization, but it's not like they're losing profits because one of their player gets promoted? On the contrary, you provided free marketing. It's really insane how easy it is to make claims

Previous initiatives to get digital technologies to these schools such as the "one laptop per child" project in rwanda failed because of prohibitive costs of internet. 2nd, censorship will be much discouraged and citizens of countries led by dictator regimes will finally be able to easily access information and express themselves freely.

Cities have too much customer density for starlink to serve them all at a reasonable bandwidth, though they would still provide the lowest latency. It will still offer some competition in these areas, but could only ever capture a small market share of the total bandwith usage. Expect Starlink to dominate mainly in rural areas, where customer density is lower, and the cost to connect new customers via fiber is high.

      @JosephHarner@JosephHarner4 жыл бұрын
    • @@JosephHarner Not sure where this misinformation originates from, but its wrong. It uses phased arrays, so having lots of users in one area, is not an issue. And in terms of bandwidth, Starlink would be better off at handling insane amount of users and loads, than the current ground based systems, due to having multiple links to multiple other sats. The term you are looking for, is bandwidth congestion, and like i said, Starlink is most likely better off than ground based solutions in cities. Starlink will dominate more than just rural areas,because low latency applications are becoming more and more common, and if there is a cheaper faster solution, people will use it.

    • There is always a prototype phase to every successful system, and Starlink is already far more than proof-of-concept. In a surprisingly short interval, as SpaceX continues development, you may enjoy the capacity you hope to pay for. The most important issue is whether Starlink remains true to its charter (vaguely phrased), and does not allow Wall Street traffic and other premium users to crowd out the mass (individual) user. As we found with Google, glowing promises to do no evil are quickly forgotten when shareholders want more return. In fact, love of money instead of community/people is the root of all evil.

It's already making good money from its reusable rockets and if this project nets them a big payday then it will likely stay as a private company for at least as long as Elon runs it. Though he could re-charter the company in such a way that any successors could be held to certain unchangeable mandates. Will just have to see how long that stays true.
