Original Prusa Enclosure is an accessory for your 3D printer that houses your Original Prusa i3 MK3S+ and provides a stable printing environment. The Enclosure helps to reduce odors from certain materials, lowers noise, can be equipped with useful addons for increased safety and/or the possibility to run the printer in public spaces and helps with printing advanced materials due to the passive heat coming from the heatbed (prevents warping).

"It made sense to create something high-quality and advanced (designed and tested by us, aimed for businesses, schools and other institutions) because the DIY enclosure from IKEA Lack tables is still a good budget option, so there was no need to create a replacement for it."

I do worry about the stability of it on those small feet and does the enclosure allow space for the muu2s with a paving stone under the printer to reduce ringing? Yes, this enclosure looks nice and has some pretty cool add-on features, but for $350-700 bucks? • All of the enclosures I've worked with ended up causing too much heat creep in the cold end (Printing PETG). How do you intend to fix this issue? I've been thinking maybe a snorkel to feed fresh air into the fan or something, but I bet that would look way too funky and also likely snag on a print.

    @GregAtlas@GregAtlas Жыл бұрын
  • Or.... use an old upright fridge/freezer. Just cut a hole in the door and use sealant to fix some old glass. I just extended the wiring harnesses and fed them through to the electronics housing and screen that I placed on top shelf of the freezer. That also uses the sliding baskets for storing tools and filament. I mainly store the filament on a high shelf of the fridge section above the printer as the heat keeps it nice and dry 😉. No draughts and no issues with abs, nylon and even pc....

  • It's great that Prusa is expanding it's product line, but it's been 3 years since the MK3 was released. When are we going to hear something about, or better yet see something about an MK4?

    @rickseiden1@rickseiden12 жыл бұрын
    • Sure they have the money seeing how popular the product is, even with all the copycats. My guess is the R&D were split in doing the XL and the other half doing the hard maths & science of having more places to write the dude's name on.

      @ElectronicShredder@ElectronicShredder2 жыл бұрын
    • The Prusa XL is essentially the Mk4. I wouldn't hold on the line waiting for a Mk4 in the near future if you're currently on the market for your next printer. The Mk3 is still pretty good for its price point and if you want something better, I recommend saving some money and going XL/Voron/RatRig.

      @TheRAINMan059@TheRAINMan0592 жыл бұрын
    • @@TheRAINMan059 The XL is not in what I would consider an MK4. The MK line has always been about the i3 design. It really is i3 MK3 or i3 MK4. The XL isn't that. Not that I think the XL isn't a good machine or that it doesn't have a place in the Prusa store or anything like that. Just that it's not the MK4. I'm happy with my MK3S+ for now, and not looking to buy a new printer. The MK3, though, had a lot of innovative features that have now become common place. I'd like to see Prusa innovate on the i3 line again. Partly because that's what I think of when I think of Prusa, and partly because I want to buy the upgrade pack.

      @rickseiden1@rickseiden12 жыл бұрын
    • @@rickseiden1 There's a reason why the innovators among the hobby community have nearly unanimously moved past the i3 format. Post MK3, the i3 design is deprecated and relegated to cheap printers e.g. Creality. CoreXY and other systems where the bed doesn't sling around the Y axis are the future of serious desktop 3d printing. There's no need for an *i3* Mk4. Yes, Prusa should release more substantial upgrades to the Mk3 including better extruder/hotend, as well as more software features. But i3 is not the future of 3D printing beyond small and affordable e.g. Prusa Mini, Ender 3.

      @TheRAINMan059@TheRAINMan0592 жыл бұрын
    • @@TheRAINMan059 I wasn't aware of that. If that's the case Prusa still needs something between the Mini and the XL. When the MK3 was new, one of the selling points was that it could be upgraded to the next version. I don't know how that would work if the next mid sized printer isn't an i3.

    @georg6876@georg68762 жыл бұрын
    • Whilst I have a heater in my enclosure, I rarely use it. The printer itself maintains around 50c. The only affected parts I have noticed are the thinner petg parts around the steppers (which get much hotter). I have had to reprint these with a much higher temp filament. We shall see how long the steppers last, no problems yet with many hundreds of hours.

      @martintruran8469@martintruran84692 жыл бұрын
    • It's more that power supplies need to be cooled to avoid fast degradation, which is why they have fans. In the enclosure, you are recycling warm air through the power supply which does not effectively cool it. The temperatures that cause a problem with creep on the load-bearing parts are much higher than the temperatures that cause the problem with power supply cooling.

Still a great option but you have to factor in the Acrylic and time to make it what you want. personally the Lacks were primarily just printer tables for me. Which keeps that part cheap.

I don't see why not, because they both have the same dimensions... but then why wouldn't the marketing also show this enclosure as fitting the MK3S (and perhaps other variants like the Prusa Mini)? It seems confusing and also like a missed opportunity because if the enclosure fits an MK3S then surely you would want to advertise it as such to increase sales? I want to buy one- despite it being way too expensive- but I want assurance that it's gonna fit my MK3S printer...

But if it is will easy Roll, the Filament-Spool will make Problems at Retracts and fast Prints, because it will not Stop and the Roll will Spool of and get form Spool and their is than stopping Material from the Spool because cross Filament-parts or so on... 2 Kg are a good Compromiss for long Prints... You can make it, but how I said - more Problems than it is worth to do this... Not all Options are good Options. This will only right work with a Stepper for the spool and a Electronic with logic to trake the Filament in Time (if more power on the Filament, the Stepper must work some degrees.). But this ist not so easy. Mechanical it will not work so fine - my meaning. Good luck. Hope, you understand, what I mean, because my English is not good - sorry...

I printed 8KG last week divided on 2 printers without any problems with 2.2KG spools.

      @borisbommen@borisbommen2 жыл бұрын
    • @@borisbommen That is exactly the problem: as light as possible. With it, you reel yourself loose during fast travels or retracts. Likewise when changing direction from fast movements. I also use the 2 Kg coils. But the mass is very high! The brakes not by itself, by friction again. And certainly not when the mechanism is so smooth-running. The result is loose windings, which at some point slip among themselves and thus cross and knot, or jumping off windings, which then get tangled on the outside ... I also print a lot of jobs, so I know the problem. I have printed myself e.g. "ball-bearing" recordings, which center the bearing axis off-center adjustable. By changing the distance to the center, I can make the roll roll lighter (full large roll) or heavier (empty roll). Due to the off-center centering, the roller always has the tendency, as soon as the train is gone, to center itself hanging down. With larger rolls you need in principle, so that this works reliably, a drive for the rolls, by means of a stepper, which in principle measures the tension on the filament via a control (Ardunio) - if the Prusa promotes, the tension on the filament increases and the stepper must run a little and drive the roll. If the tension stays away or decreases, the stepper must stop. This way you always have a certain basic tension and no uncontrolled unloading of the windings - with the corresponding consequences... But try it out and report... I don't know any mechanical system that masters this reliably - especially since the stepper pinion heats up with time - and then, in view of the mass, it quickly becomes fatal, since it then digs in more than it conveys... Clogging sends its regards.... Greeting, Digibike Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)

The single LED strip lighting on the left... the case is still dark inside. Unless we can expand and have more LEDs? There should be leds on all 4 corners honestly. You should be able to access it on left and right sides as well. I dislike that it looks like my 7" touch screen raspberry pie setup has no place to go in here... Where as the "Prusa Box" would be right in the front. I thought the Prusa Box was expensive but now comparing both , I actually feel the Prusa box is worth it and probably the one I am going to go with. Just seems way more customizable. The Prusa XL will have at the very least have a optional accessory that resembles Accordeon shutters you can pull up from the base and attach to the upper frame to enclose the printing area. You can see it on the photo of it showing of its multi-tool system So i would assume they are also going to make a traditional version with front facing door and top cover and if not someone else probably will rapidly create them. Benefit of CoreXY is that with a old fashioned cubic frame it is easy to add panels to enclose compared to the mendel that needs an entire box around the printer.
