The crab is a good candidate cause of building reach, plus people will most likely find a use for the claw in things like crystal pvp, etc The Armadillo Is good for pet lovers who like to go on adventures with their little buddies, plus it's just a cute mob The Penguin is basically a dolphin for cold biomes and is absolutely necessary due to cuteness overload any time I see it I think penguin cause cute 🐧

REASONS PENGUIN SHOULD WIN 1. Iceboating, ocean travel, villager transportation w/ iceboating, 2. Builds like cute ice tunnels or igloos. (Yes i know it’s a macaroni penguin but it’s still a penguin) 3. More chance of seeing it in the wild and survival mode than the crab. 4. Very sociable, won’t try to hide from you like armadillos and will approach you easily. 5. Baby penguins so it could be breedable, maybe even tamed. 6. If they are making them accurate to real life, they could be hunters and provide you with fish for food.
We don't know if they'll work on land boats and all 3 mobs are good aesthetically, but the other 2 have more practical useage

Also, the main reason Mojang spreads out features so far and few apart is for the longevity of the game. It's a cash cow for Microsoft. They plan on doing this for as long as they can. So they will thin out updates.

Thank you for that bit at the end, many people don't understand how much easier it is to make a mod than an actual update. I myself have had a go at modding, and although it was good enough for a video, I would not want it added to the game without massive bug fixes and making sure it is not too overpowered. edit: should have expected this
ofc it's easier for modders, but if they can make 3 good mobs (in 3 days) with some bugs, a giant team on mojang can make 3 great mobs on both versions in like atleast a month or 2 they are a company, and we paid for the gane, we should stop being "oh their trying their best" every time they deliver something subpar

You get an idea, it goes through all the teams, can't make a bad or unique mob or it makes fans mad, code it up in Java, then code it up in C#, for many devices. From pc's to phones, to phones with a keyboard added in. I ain't saying they're not slow for their size but it's understandable
@@amazonbox8717no.. it’s most probably because of 1.16 and 1.17/18 kinda being larger updates then 1.20/21 so it’s probably high expectations and also they aren’t slaves they shouldn’t always make big updates or they’ll be burnt out so have some respect for them.
In all seriousness, I think you should include different varieties likely depending on biome! (Some penguins live in Africa & Australia rather than just Antarctica :)
I appreciate the bit at the end. I and many other people have been kinda frustrated with Minecraft lately based on the mob votes. I think all of mobs have some form of potential and I just want to see them all in the game. Along with that, I just think it would be cool to add an additional use/item for whatever mob wins. At the same time, I literally forgot how difficult modding is. Especially they add a lot more than the mob in the game. Hopefully whatever mob wins makes the Minecraft world more enjoyable!
You also have to consider that this is one of the biggest games on earth, backed up by one of the biggest corporations. It's not incredibly difficult to add 2 extra mobs with basic pathing AI

It annoys me to no end when people say things like that without understanding all the bugs and things youtubers don't show in mod videos (this year I got a taste of that myself in making my own mob vote mod videos). I'm glad you addressed this :) also, love the videos.
It also helps that it's in this exact type of videos. Community discourse has gotten bad enough that when this isn't in these videos, people just start going crazy with those takes. People will just watch, think 'Why, Mojang', then go into the comments that are a sea of the same statement, and jump onto the badwagon. These notices matter quite a fair bit, especially when you compare what's in the comment section here to knarfy's and systemzee's(their stuff _IS_ cool, don't get me wrong).
Wow you miss the point that bad? Even though, yes it's buggy, this was after what? A day, 2 days? even a week? By one guy. Compared to a company of at least 30 Developers and 600 Employees. The penguin is for players in early stages of the game. The elytra is for the final. The elytra is only unbalanced because players grind too hard just to get it, and they do not take in most of the things in the game. I still use a horse in my world.

Imagin if the tamed penguins didnt give you speed boost (or still did doenst matter) but they pushed extra boats for you, you could make a hole convoy to move stuff, and with the recent villiger changes it could really help with moving mobs.

Caves+Cliffs was 2 years ago. They've added like 2 features since then
I think a big reason for the community upset right now with the mob vote is that all three would be nice to have. while it is more work to do three mobs and their features Mojang has a team of a few hundred people and this one guy was able to make a rough copy version of all three before the vote has even happened. So it is possible with the bigger more experienced team Mojang would be able to create all three without it being that much more work. Even just by having dev team crab, armadillo, and penguin with a few people on each team you should be able to deliver the Minecraft standard of quality without too much extra strain. worst case take a little bit more time as well like it's not that people need or expect it right now they just don't want to miss out on something cool in the long-term.
@@raysay1818 The biggest issue at hand is that like square said, all he has to do is make these mobs look good for a video and not in-game. I've heard so many people say 'if one guy can do it Mojang should be able to they're huge!' but Mojang staff is probably overworked and underpaid; it's most likely not a passion project. As much as I would love to have all three of these cool mobs in Minecraft the point of voting is to: A. Have Mojang only have to worry and tweak ONE mob's impact on the entirety of the game compared to three B. Get people excited for an update C. Let the masses choose what they would want to see. Minecraft is not the first game to have player based voting on what content would come into the gameplay, I think a lot of people are just really butthurt because they want a specific mob to be put into game and did not get it.

For crab imagine it to be a giant crab that have thick defense,can climb,can dash sideways, and ambushes you and drag you underwater and a health on par with iron golems.And a giant crab that travel on five. Then armadillo being a super ravager that have super health and defense that rolls before attacking

The final pop culture reference got me with a dumb smile on my face. I also really liked the final section regarding unhelpful criticism. I don't play Minecraft, I just think videos and mods like this are cool. But it's shit you see all over video game discussion. Wish there was more understanding for the whole industry, that way people could properly critique with some nuance. Especially avoid stuff like "they're just lazy" when it's often not that simple in the first place.
The reason people are criticizing Mojang over this though is because they definitely have the time and manpower to implement all 3 mobs. They're not a small indie game company. Though, I will say I think the refusal to implement all 3 mobs has less to do with Mojang being "lazy" or unwilling, and more to do with what the higher-ups are making them do. It's likely they aren't allowing them the time or resources to implement all 3. I'm sure they would implement all 3 otherwise.

I think it's completely fair to have problems with the mob vote, "is this really necessary" is infinitely better than "you're just being lazy". But I also think that still misses the actual point of the mob vote, at least to me. I'd say even discussing if they're "allowed" to do it is a bit of a stretch. They very much *could* do all 3 every time but it should be considered do they even *want* to. The way I see it, it's just a way of generating activity in the community. It's *because* not everything gets in that people are able to discuss and consider what they want, and possibly impact what's added to the game next. In a way they're more involved with its direction. Compare that if it was just three new mobs all at once, every time. It sounds nice but I don't see it generating much activity. Though from what I've heard their implementation hasn't been the greatest but that's a whole different topic.

I really appreciate the defense of Mojang at the end there. It frustrates me to no end when people denounce crunch in the video game industry, then turn around and call mojang lazy for not having massive updates every 2 weeks. Small updates are fine, ideal even. You aren't gonna die if 1.21 doesn't add the entire aether dimension in 3 months time, but if it did then the developers just might. Mojang is seemingly one of the few game companies that doesn't overwork their employees to death (to my knowledge at least) and people shit on them relentlessly for it. There are plenty of things to criticize Mojang for but this is not one of them

I agree with you in the video, but shall we remember that they are a billionare company that has many employers, they spend a lot of time on those mob updates and actual updates, looking that you (Eight) was capable of making something very solid with less time and less resources just show that mojang could do it even better given the amount of time. I don't actually care about the updates or mob votes anymore because this game is a one time payment, so getting updates for it is already a good thing even if you like it or not. Terraria and other games has less resources too, one time payment, and they are able to keep updating the game, so is not smart to defend a billionaire company saying that they are doing the best updates, because they are not. Look, the reason Mojang takes too long to make shit and there is a general lack of big content is because of 2 major reasons: 1.- The Existence of Bedrock and Java, 2 different engines on 2 different coding languages and what may work in one won't in the other so they have to do a lot of testing and trial and error just to implement a feature because they have to be careful to not make spaghetti code that will fuck em up in the future 2.- The Classic trying to please everyone and end up pleasing nobody, they hold themselves to very high standards of quality and everything they do has to go through many departments before it even reaches the player which leaves less time for more features

For the people who think mod developers are better than Mojang employees: most of the time it takes so long to update isn't because of mod creators being better. Okay, sure, mod creators can work on Minecraft All you have to do is update every single one of your mods to the latest version, day in and day out, until it finally works. And then the next update is announced and you do that same thing again and again. That'll be much faster! Yeah, the employees are really underworked and probably haven't seen the sun in weeks. The employees are basically mod creators stuck in an endless loop of adding and updating every single little thing. So be nice, people.

They are not lazy they (have to do what Microsoft wants, don't take risks, don't listen to the community, prioritize less important features, remove features for the sake of parity, change rules constantly, have a very slow workflow, some of them are actually lazy)
