    • While your right, people were laughing at porsche taycan when Tesla blew it out the water in performance at a cheaper price. But now Tesla gotta come really good, and this car does it with only two motors which is amazing

    • @@justincharles6585it took tesla since 2007 and on to make a fast dual motor ev. In porsche first ever attempt in the 2020 taycan they destroyed the fastest tesla. Tesla had to add an entire extra motor just to beat porsche in a straight line and still lose to it around nurumbring... porsche too this day created a faster dual motor then any tesla or any other car manufacturer on the market. Now porsche does it again.. makes a faster straight line car and track car then tesla while STILL retaining a dual motor lightweight setup. Now tesla will have to add a 4th motor just to beat porsche again in a straight line. It seems to me that porsche engineering is out doing tesla at their own game. Imagine what the numbers of a porsche EV would do in a straight line if they only cared about straight line performance and not weight savings. Porsche with 3-4 of these motors in their car would destroy tesla easily in an acceleration battle. But they also care about handling, braking, and performance.

    • If you only care about performance. People who bought a plaid are still laughing as long as they have upgraded brakes, Porsche is better in every way though it's just for people who don't care. They don't care.

Far from a serious model S competitor that's for sure. If Tesla responds it is to maintain their halo effect not because porsche is actually being competitive. It has worse performance then a plaid, weighs more despite having 2 seats instead of 5 and less range. Porsche could only achieve a better lap time due to higher budget... aka spoiler, suspension, cooling system etc and also the car being wider by 2 inches, less tall and a smaller wheelbase. Is this car impressive? I think it kind of is but it would be much more so if the model S plaid didn't exist. The Model S plaid sustaining its HP has set an insanely high standard for high end ev's. And it will be hard to match as carbon sleeved rotors is just fricken absurd lol. SOOO difficult to manufacture even for such an experienced ev company like Tesla with the best engineers in the world it would of been very difficult... and they manufacture and engineer their own motors... unlike porsche who gets them manufactured by ZF. What is difficult about carbon sleeved rotors in an ev is the manufacturing which porsche has no control over to tackle such a difficult problem. Hence why they don't use carbon sleeved motors that sustain their rpm and HP. I think porsche will need 3+ years at least to make carbon sleeved motors... possibly longer but hopefully not.

    • They aren't carbon sleeved and they also use tech to get it to 1100HP temporarily but not sustainability. Lucid barely got their 205mph mark with 1234HP while Tesla... the plaid can go 220mph with its limiter unlocked even with the motor still limited to 20k rpm by Tesla instead of what it is truly capable of... 25k rpm. Tesla is in another ball game when it comes to its motors sustaining peak HP and RPM. Two speed transmission is just compensating for electric motors flaw of not sustaining rpm at high speeds rather then fixing it. Tesla just fixed the issue instead of overengineering.

      @lachlanB323@lachlanB32328 күн бұрын
    • @@ruslan-albertokudaev What bs. Taycan has better cooling for the battery then the plaid. The plaid had to coast during its nurburgring run while the taycan didn't. So if the plaid can do 216mph with its limiter removed why can't the Taycan? It is actually quite simple: The motor tech is fundamentally different. You know how ev's suck at the top end and how the plaid ignores that? Carbon sleeved motors. Ev motors like that in the Tesla model 3 or porsche taycan can't sustain then 18k rpm and drop down to 16k... obviously not good for the top end performance of the car. But what about the two speed transmission doesn't that help!? It does, quite a bit... but... it doesn't solve the underlying issue.

  • Regarding the Weissach, I like the idea of driving the equivalent of a sporty Chevy El Camino with an interior cargo bed accessible by doors on either side, and in, addition a trunk and a frunk! Not to mention it is the fastest street car of them all, bar none!. I like the fact that I can play with paddle shifters: right tap rocket mode accelerator, left tap for more (regenerative) braking. I also like the fact that it can handle even better than the Turbo S which by itself can prevent a dangerous high speed situation from becoming deadly. I like the fact that with the added Panamera's suspension system, it can offer a more luxurious ride to become a closer competitor to the Rolls Spectre while leaving it in the dust in performance terms; that system also providing unique, in addition to pitch, dive, roll control as well as (get this) 'Speed Racer' style lowering of the wheels to maintain performance traction when the car starts to go airborne, luxury touches such as raising itself for the occupants ease of ingress/egress. I also like that the Weissach, in particular, will hold more value (and potentially be a collector) than the rest of the electric motor battery cans on wheels because of it's specialness to the point of justifying an investment of ~30K for major service to bring back performance to 100% in 5-10 years. I like the fact that Porsche realizes it has to offer a Weissach package on the Taycan GT at no extra cost to remain competitive in the depreciating EV market (this may be the first and last time for a no extra cost Weissach package). I don't like the fact that the body is mostly indistingushable from the Taycans that came out in 2020. I do like the distinguishing Aero and the sharp metallic Violet/ Indigo (not purple despite claims) paint job. I like that , currently, there is assurance of allocation availability as opposed to archaic lesser performing ICE GT models. I like the different kind of adrenaline experience from having to harness a virtual lightning bolt under my ass in day to day traffic. I would not like to prove it on the track at the cost of a new set of tires.
