  • I squeezed one of these hemi's into a "55 Mercury when I was 19 years old. It took me most of the summer of 1965. The engine was so big, there was no room for the radiator fan. I adapted a fan blade onto a 6v generator that I wired as a motor, and mounted it behind the grill. Only had to run it while the car was sitting at a red light. The motor never overheated. What a monster engine! One of my proudest moments.

I've been a mechanic for 40 years and yes, I'm fixing cars in my sleep. I wish I can wake up sometimes and it actually happened but no. Just dreamt it. It's time to go to work. It's still fun.
